Prairie Dog Central Railway

Had a fun day of nostalgia and wonder with my little one and family. Definitely something everyone should experience. It's a really fun adventure for kids. Bring cash for when you get to Rockwood there is all kinds of shops and the canteen only takes cash. Some of the vendors accept cards but for food you need cash. Everyone was super nice on train!

This was a fantastic experience! The staff & volunteers do a terrific job of making this a very worthwhile outing for people of all ages! We went as a group of 4 generations in our family, arrived early, took lots of pictures, brought a picnic lunch, bought ice creams, and every one of us loved it!

The train ride was a lot of fun and really good. The people that work there are incredible and very enjoyable and we really had a good time.
We thought the stopover was a bit too long especially with children there’s a few things to do in Grosse Isle, but not enough to see or do that takes more than an hour. Thank you so much for your dedication to the Grand Prairie central train and for the people to put on the train robbery. It was really fun.

This experience is more for young families with children. My wife and I being seniors, went by ourselves with lowered expectations and even those weren't met.
The cabins have the young children running around and hollering.not conducive to a relaxing trip.
A top speed of 10 mph was ridiculous. The train robbery on behalf of some children's charity was performed by uninspired bandits.
The whole experience was both a waste of time and money and I would NOT recommend this as a potential fun experience for tourism.

I have been on the PDC twice with family, once on my birthday and once for a Halloween excursion where we all got dressed up as zombies. We all had a fantastic time on both occasions, so much fun. I am a railroad enthusiast so it's always great to ride the rails. I plan on going for a few more visits when time allows. Bring your family and kids, it's a great way to spend your day.

We love going on the Prairie Dog Central as a family! It’s a nice way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon - taking life slow, enjoying the train ride and scenery.

Great experience to ride the old train and visit one of Manitoba's old town Grosse Isle for lunch and a little break. Kids love it.

We shared our 50th Anniversary celebration with just over 100 others on the PDCR. Very impressed with the communication to make all the arrangements - thanks Catherine. All rail staff were super friendly and supper arrangements in Grosse Isle were great. Everybody in Winnipeg should do this once at least.
