Salisbury House (St. Anne’s & Fermor)

Always pleasant, but the new menu is very confusing. I am not a big fan. Someone dropped the ball.

Food is great. Service wasn't best and heard complaining about other employees whole time.it was funny to us but other tables we heard complaining about it to each other.
Appetizer served with meal.which was booooo but tasted great.
Buuut.as winnipegers know you go sals for great food not great service.

The food and service were great, but the gentleman running the till was rude and unprofessional. Yelling at a new employee in front of all the customers. Also, people skills are none existent. Went to pay for our food n no interaction at all. Told us what the price was, not even a "hello how was the food. " Also, my wife ran into problems with the debit machine, so she asked the gentleman, and his response was " did you click no" in a rude manner, and no ty. This individual shouldn't be dealing with the public at all. Will never go back if his working.

Ordered salisbury steak dinner. Patties were dry, chili is not what I was expecting. My meal came with garlic toast, it was the best thing on my plate. The staff were very welcoming, friendly.made sure that my coffee is never empty.

I went here yesterday for lunch. And to be honest i was very disappointed with the whole experience. So we walk in, this guy employee greets us and leads us to our table. And we order and get our food. To their credit, they got it to us in less than 10 minutes! But the fries were kinda soft and soggy. And the hotdog was, ok and bland. While i was eating, i saw the guy employee horsing around with a girl employee in the bar area. Wow, very professional things to do while your at work! And when we left, the guy employee was sassy and grumpy. And didn’t even tell us to have a good day. So do yourself a favour and go to smittys instead! Its just like this restaurant but way more modern and better with staff with more kindness and a better attitude!

Busy on Tuesday but the excellent staff made lunch enjoyable. Food arrived fast and was delicious as expected.

Sals has got to have the Bestest breakfasts! The shredded potatoes are the best compared to other places.

My girlfriend absolutely loves coming here for breakfast and lunch as do I. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is very good. The breakfast is always great, but we love the nips with sweet potato fries always a winner in our books. We have also had the clubhouse and Reuben sandwich which are also delicious and the price is pretty good. It's our tradition to visit at least once a month and share a cozy booth if we are lucky.

This will be the last time I eat here. Never fails, they have good food but insist on sweeping and vacuuming in close proximity while we are trying to eat. Also using the same cloth to wipe seperate tables, not very sanitary. This was well before closing (800 they close at 10). I've worked in the food industry this is totally not acceptable yet it seems to be the norm here.

My mom, son and I all came here for supper after driving 6 1/2 hours in the car. It was super close to the hotel we were staying at! They had so many options to choose from. I got their chicken strips, and I’m usually a very picky person when it comes to my strips. These strips were so juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection on the outside. It came with fries and a side coleslaw (which was also amazing). I ordered the honey dill sauce for the chicken strips which made them better, if that was possible! I will definitely return!

Our server, I think her name was Alice, was super nice and amazing with us! Thank you so much!

Staff was friendly and quick. Love the coupons. Low rating due to the eggs benedict I got. Definitely NOT what they use to be. The sauce is so runny and doesn't have right consistency anymore. Was very disappointed and was looking forward to it because of all the hollidaise sauces I've had at restaurants I enjoyed sals the most. That is until now. I have to find a new restaurant for eggs benedicts.

Staying at the travel lodge and decided to have some lunch here. They did not disappoint. Was greeted immediately. Sat down and ordered my food and it was out in less then 5 minutes. Tasted delicious and large servings. The waitress was nice too. Definitely eat here if your looking for a quick and affordable bite.

The waiters are very respectful, dedicated and patient. Smiling always and asking if we need anything. Good place to dine in.
The environment is very neat too

I ordered the roast beef dinner. I will not be recommending this to you. The service was very good, all things considered.

Friendly service fairly ok prices but best with coupons. However, delish food. Gets very busy now so sometimes service will be slow

Pretty disappointed with this burger, a really terrible Burger. I had the big nip plate and the burger was so thin, dry and overcooked it was disgusting. When we looked at the burger meat it appeared the quantity of meat was so small and all they did was squish the hell out of it to spread it out so it would fill the whole bun and appear bigger. The so-called burger was all holey everywhere, dry and overcooked. The fries and coleslaw were good though. For the amount of money they charge for a burger you'd expect they would give you something decent.

Great restaurant, very delicious breakfast, the sausage and egg nip was really good, the staff is super friendly and polite, we wait a little more than usual but it was really worth it. The restaurant it has been since 1930 (now I know why!)
They used to open 24/7 before the pandemic; definitely won't be the last visit, thanks for the great experience

It has been a very long time since I was here! I remember it was only a cafeteria style type of dinning. But, now nicely renovated inside, and clean, and the cod and fries platter was the BEST in town! The young server, I don't remember her name, was very polite, and soo busy but still had patience for us three in the group! I DIFFENTLY will be back again!

We hadn’t been to Sals in forever, and at one time it wasn’t on the top of our list. Let me recommend Winnipegers you need to re-try this place. Our cheese Nips were juicy (choice of white or ww bun), fries were excellent and salad was fresh. Makayla was our server, she kept our coffee topped up and a sweetheart. All around awesome experience.

Perfect for quick meal on the go anytime. Wide menu selection can cover most diets. Staff is prompt, friendly and courteous. Can't ask for more.

Good food and service, a little pricy for burgers but I have a deep craving from childhood for this place and it satisfied the craving.

Went in for dine-in today with my roommate. I showed my card - all good. However my roommate was refused entry with his Manitoba COVID Immunization transcript. He is not eligible for an immunization card with current rules, and the employees refused to examine the transcript which matched his name, and drivers license. Apparently being fully vaccinated is still not good enough.

As of today, this is what it says as "Proof Of Immunization" on the Manitoba Governments website:

The following documents are considered valid proof of immunization in Manitoba:
- an official document issued by a Canadian province or territory containing information of a person’s COVID-19 vaccination history

Way to go guys - first time introducing your restaurant to my friend and you guys blew it.

EDIT: SEPT 6,2021 - As per your reply I have sent you an email as requested. We as fully Manitoba vaccinated individuals were ignored and turned away from your restaurant. I've just emailed you with all the details. I get as a business owner navigating COVID restrictions are tough, however that is NO excuse for treating qualified customers as trash. Please encourage this location's manager to re-read the provincial COVID rules and perhaps follow them? It's not hard.

Had a very pleasant experience this evening, lisa was our server today and she was very helpful and sweet! Food was amazing and such a good deal.

Great Winnipeg classic breakfast, ask for the special on weekdays or if 55 use the Silver menu for good value. The shreaded hash browns are great.

Online says they have a pie of the day. When we asked about it the greeter quickly got mad and gave bad service the rest the time.

It's Sal's, a Winnipeg institution you can't ever go wrong with a Nip and Fries or any breakfast on the menu.

Salisbury House was as it is normally, they had a good breakfast staff were nice and helpful, distancing was good for covid and masks are not required. The food came promptly but they forgot the toast and syrup for the pancake, it was a prompt fix and they were happy to help, overall a nice classic Salisbury experience and would definitely recommend as one of the top sals in city and it is worth stopping at it you get the chance for breakfast, or a nip.

Are here for the first time recently and the food was below average. The burgers were good for the price but the Nipper basket was not worth $20. Everything was bland, unseasoned, and most of the order was sitting under the warmer for quite awhile and wasn’t hot. I would give them another chance and order breakfast food but don’t have much hope for the dinner options.

I came to help Salisbury to celebrate theirs 88th anniversary in Winterpeg. Madison was a great server and she's new too! Bottomless caffeine of course.

I notice A&W is promoting a 3.50 Teenburger. I'm old enough to remember when the Teenburger actually good ;-)
I would give the Teenburger the Pepsi challenge to the daily commissary supplied cheese "nip" or a whole variety of others of Lord Salisbury's menu any day.

The location has the most wonderful history pictures of Salisbury down thru the years. They once had cruises down the Lake of the Woods! (Who knew) The blueberry pancakes w/bacon was fantastic. My husband loves their meat pie w/fries and their fabulous coleslaw. The service was great. Lovely open space. Lots of light.

Part of a chain of the storied Salis burry House of Winnipeg. Home of the nip and a lot of other grilled specials. When they have their together they do really well.
Open 24 hours and located on Fermor and St Ann's which is number one highway. Don't see many travelers but locals abound.
A demographic is a lot of blue collar and silver hair.

Well I was quite disappointed the waitress was not very friendly that serve us. I ordered the fish and chips and the portion of the fish was very small.

Good breakfast. Just the way I like it.low prices, attentive service and great coffee! What more can you ask for? Keep it up sals!

Avoid avoid avoid. Last few months the service and food has slipped. 12 times in 3 months I've came here and noticed a severe drop in quality. From food to service. This was my last time coming as pancake house and IHOP never fail to deliver.
Starting it off. My hashbrowns were absolutely burnt. Yet brought cold to the table.
The eggs were cold. Soggy. And the bottoms were burnt.
Also asked me last minute if I'd like pancake instead of toast. I said yes. Offered blueberries in the pancakes. But never told me there would be a charge.
My wife had a skillet. Cheese was cold. Eggs were cold. Hashbrowns were also burnt.
I ordered a coffee before I had ordered my food. My wife ordered a water. After 20 minutes the food finally showed. I then had to ask for my coffee and water.
My family has came here since it opened. I've been coming since the 90s. Wont be back.

Haven't been to Sal's in a while but we had family in town who like to go out for breakfast so we went there. I had their 2 eggs and toast breakfast special for only $3.47! They brought little peanut butters and jams. I stuck with water and had a nice breakfast for well less than $5. Add a coffee and it's the usual $3 with free refills. They had other more inclusive breakfast specials for just a couple of bucks more.
Pros: food was good, included Kraft PB and J was nice, service was good although our order was very slow and apparently punched in wrong. One of us was hangry so that didn't help. The menu was full of great options.
Cons: Sal's feels tired but the prices likely reflect a slim profit margin with limited reinvestment money. We went for the food but i like to feel it is clean and fresh inside.

It was busy so it was clear many people still love their Sal's.

Crystal was an inspiration to all examples of professional restaurant service. Food was amazing, compliments to the chef's!

I’ve never had a bad sals expirence, I love the breakfast here and the price is right! I had plans to meet with a friend to study so we figured the sals on fermor was in between both our places so it would be best, assuming it would be like all of the others calm, relaxed, sweet staff and attentive.
I was very wrong about this sals. We got here and the fryer wasn’t working, understandable things happen, once we ordered and recieved our food it was like we were not longer customers here. We had mentioned at the beginging we would be here for a while and would most likely order something a little later as we will be studying and probably need a snack. Once we recieved our food 1st problem was the hair we found in our food. Our server took forever to check in with us and only had checked in twice the WHOLE time we were here. I usually like to start with water and order a drink later on however this wasn’t possible as it felt like the server was annoyed and avoiding us. We got water at the start of our meal and never had refills after that and did not have the opportunity to even ask because again we felt like we were being avoided.
Knowing the manager was here didn’t make the situation better as she too never checked in with us nor did any of the other staff.
So as I sit here waiting for my server to ask if I would like more water or anything else maybe even offer to get my bill i write this review I’m thirsty, a little angry and very disappointed.wanting ice cream in which I will take my business to DQ down the street I’m sure they will ask if I would like more water.

P. S: as we were leaving we walked up to the register to pay where our server was standing with a donut in one had and her mouth, the lady in which I assumed was the manager was also standing there and carrying on a conversation that I would say wasn’t appropriate for work atleast not in front of customers. Not only did they both blatently ignore us when we got to the counter it took them about a minute to say they just need a second. While the server stood there eating and looking at us. They didn’t ask us how our meal was or if our expirence was good. We just continued to have a bad expirence all around and I probably will never step foot into this sals again.

Great food.however after ordering we were told that they don't keep cash in the till.this means that if you pay cash you have to leave a tip.seams a bit shady.the service wasn't that great

Born n raised in 204 but never tried Salisbury house figured I'd give er a shot before moving in a few weeks. Nipper basket. 2 mini nips, onion rings, chicken fingers, pierogies, and garlic toast. Pretty decent. Nothing incredible but if you're craving that sort of food go for it

The waitress that served us was so helpful to our Book Club so I gave cashier a $4.00 tip to give to her.

Third coming here, absolutely amazing stuff, great food and very good prices. A lot of stuff to choose from. Definitely would recommend to go try it out (:
