Salisbury House (Exchange District)

I was recommended to try the nips during my stay in Winnipeg. I ordered cheese nip platter. Not only was it delicious, it was also at an affordable price.

My favorite Sals! Kelly the waitress there is perfect! Leave her a nice tip she's worth every cent!

I believe this is one of the last true sal's we have left in the city. It may lack some of the classic Salisbury House decor. But the amazing service and food is what really brings you back.

The staff are all very kind, extremely quick to take your order and check on how your doing.

The food (especially the breakfast) was perfect. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and it was fairly quick getting to us.

Would highly recommend going here if you want to experience the classic sal's experience.

First time visiting Winnipeg and was recommended to go and try the Nips burger here. I really enjoyed it, it was super savoury. The service here was amazing! Overall great place for cheap eats!

Excellent breakfast spot downtown that is open on the weekends. Staff is always exceptional.

It's sals.kinda staple winnipeg classic in a nice vintage building.nice cozy spot.not too busy so service is fast.

I would have loved to give 4 or 5 stars but I have been there twice in the last couple months and both times they made mistakes. 1st time I went, my server forgot to punch in our order so after sitting there for 30 mins we found out our order wasn't place with the kitchen and we had to wait another 20 mins for the food. Then yesterday I went and they brought out the wrong order.twice. However, I will day the servers were very nice and the food was good.

This diner-style restaurant a block away from Portage and Main greatly surpassed my expectations. We went for breakfast and it was great. The drip coffee was very good. The Eggs Benedict was perfect, with poached eggs done exactly right and truly scrumptious hollandaise sauce. The prices were very reasonable. The service was excellent. (Thanks, Robert!)

No one can beat this deal. Good breakfast. Good cook and good server. Couldn't get any better than this. Highly recommended. The best breakfast in downtown Winnipeg.

It's a Sal's, so as with other locations it's always a good value meal - good portions at a good price. Service is quick and usually quite nice.

For those unfamiliar, it's a local chain known for a no-frills kind of experience. Lots of diner-type breakfast and lunch options at a great price.

Food & service were excellent but the place was empty. Ambiance would be better if people were talking and enjoying.

When I fix famous local eatery in the storage exchange building. The restaurant has has columns invite ceilings at a very business like look to it. The usual Salisbury house menu or cheeseburgers and fries and other commissary supplied daily food. Great place to go for a quick bite or a cup of coffee.

This location is very nice inside. It's in an old school building and decorated to suit. The staff member, Ken, is always busy busy everytime I'm there but always makes sure you have what you need. Food here is okay but the prices are cheaper so makes up for it. Happy Hour beer is well priced I might add

When it comes to burger restaurants in Winnipeg, you must be ready to put up or shut up. Today, Sals exceeded all expectations with a mind blowing bacon Nip. The patty was as good as any homemade burger I've ever had, but what took this experience to the next level was the bun. Possibly the best bun I've ever had in my years of burger adventuring.

Looking forward to many more visits!

Great food! I honestly go to this specific location because of the service, Ken is honestly the best server I’ve ever had! Ken is amazinggggg such a great and positive energy, definitely recommend this restaurant!

Great food. Super friendly. This is a new downtown location for Salsbury House and well worth giving it a try!

Perfect. It was my first time here. I really enjoyed the food. The burger was grilled to perfection. It is a bit pricier than other places, but I think the taste makes up for the price difference.

A decent breakfast at a decent price. Enjoyed the look of the new location although parking is challenging.

Service quality is high. By pretty much everyone there at all times. The place is super clean and everything about it is great.

I was happy to see Sal’s open up a restaurant at this location. I love Salisbury House and downtown needs a place like this, however, the manager has some work to do. My first experience at this location.

1) It’s as quiet as a morgue. No piped in background music and only 4 other tables meant everyone could hear everyone else’s conversations. So we were all whispering at our tables which made the silence even more obvious and uncomfortable. Pipe in some music.

2) Wrong order. It’s hard to screw up sausage and eggs, but when over easy is ordered they shouldn’t come out over hard, and dry toast shouldn’t come out slathered in butter (unmelted because the toast is cold). Sausages were good though, so was the coffee. Yes one can always send food back and get them to remake it but that means more waiting, and for toast and eggs? Not worth it. Besides, see point 3.3) You know when you get a server who deliberately avoids eye contact so there is no way to get their attention without causing a scene by yelling out across a deathly quiet room? Yeah, that’s the worst. Nothing to do but get up and go to them when they are near the register so you can pay the bill and leave. Other tricks, like stacking your plates or having your wallet on the table, or just waiting and waiting and waiting won’t work if they never look at your table.

Staff are very accommodating and friendly.i work downtown and use a wheelchair for mobility.i phoned to ask about their availability and wheelchair access. Kathy was very friendly reserved a table for me - as soon as i enter the building they were expecting me - i got the best service and not to mention best lunch today. Needless to say SH is my new favorite place to eat downtown!:)

Great service and food during both my visits since it opened. Very spacious layout (so nice to not have tables crammed against each other when you have a larger group) in a gorgeous location.

I like the new location. It's different with the old architecture, open atmosphere, and staff are accommodating, friendly. I've been a few times, had the chicken burger platter twice which was good. For dinner I recently ordered the battered white fish and chips off the 55+ Silver menu for $11.99. I didn't want two huge pieces of fish as has happened at some other places when ordering off the regular menu. I asked the waiter how large one was and he described it as rather substantial and I said that was more than enough. But what i got was surprisingly small, looked more like a large fish finger. It tasted good but people should be informed the portion is rather tiny, more like a snack.

Very much enjoyed the new Sals downtown. Great atmosphere and service was attentive without being overbearing. And of course all the great Sals food.

Disappointing. My poached eggs for my bennedict were boiled eggs in a mold, hard, cold, hollandaise was scrambled eggs. Honestly, what happened. To the Sal's name. Server was annoyed when I brought it to his attention. He substituted it with a basic sausage and egg breakfast, and then charged me for the Benedict. If he complained about the lack of a tip, that's why. Also. I had to flag him down 10 mins after our food arrived to tell him this. My partner was already finished when I got my "up charged replacement". Unsatisfactory. I love the Sals name, however this location is lacking!

The portions are small. I just paid 10 dollars for a cheesenip and it’s fit in the palm of my hand. What a rip. Shame on you Sals.

My spouse and I had breakfast on Saturday, we stayed at Fairmont on Friday for my xmas party from work, so the next morning we decided to go to Sals. Service was super amazing, the food was so tasty! Loved every bite of it. Coffee was freshly brewed, very very good. Shredded potatoes were so super good, my goodness, just the way i love it. Thank you a million to the chef!
Amazing service, good feeling, happy staff, we had an amazing breakfast experience! There were a few customers there when we came in, and all had a smile on their faces, all looked happy. We are definately coming back, we work just around the corner, and before a movie or Jets game we will be stopping at Sals.
