Salisbury House (Pembina & Stafford)

Great food and great staff. Can't go wrong no matter which location, food and quality is the same!

We had breakfast here. At 8: 30 in the morning the hall was almost full. Portions are huge as usual! Eggs Benedict was good! But the potatoes for the side dish are a little salty. Piecakes are large, but a little expensive, $15 for three pieces, and even the taste of soda remains on the tongue, Baking powder for dough.

Love these damn burgers. With the cost of fast food now, I go here on Twofer Tuesdays to get my burger fix.

We have frequented this location for several years as have family and many friends. Two weeks ago we went for breakfast and I slipped on the WET floor; not damp but very wet. What did the hostess say? “There’s a sign”. Here’s a suggestion say something! Watch your step; anything! When the manager came over because we asked to speak to him he said “the floor takes 5 minutes to dry”. Not exactly comforting. Yes I was hurt and am still in pain but I also wonder about others who may be less fortunate. There are a fair number of advanced age people who frequent that restaurant and many with mobility issues. What’s going to happen if one of them slips and even falls?
My brother and his wife were there last night for supper; a weekly ritual and the floor was very wet again!
Oh yes, there was a sign so I guess it makes everything okay.
DO BETTER! DO MUCH BETTER!

Not your best effort today Sal's Pembina. Selected "cheese" in the skip app to add to our "meat eater skillet", was expecting something a little more that, what look and tastes exactly like a processessed cheese product cheese slice, half heartedly dropped on top. Also, several pieces of meat in one of my skillets are burnt. The rest was ok. Overall tasted ok, so 3 out of 5.

Unfortunately that Sunday lunchtime rush caused a wait for food. We ordered seniors fish and chips. The fish was tough and over cooked. Next time it will be sent back. Normally we have no complaints.

Joined friends and family as they selected. Really enjoyed the Supreme Chicken Quesadilla. The addition of bacon really enhanced the flavor.

I would love to give a higher rating based on the staff alone but the food was horrible. My Sals steak could break teeth it was so burnt. My companion had their sandwich messed up twice. Both meals were inedible. The waitress was so upset and I felt sorry for her. The disgusting food was not her fault.

Amazing as always. Friendly staff, reasonably quick service considering a table of eight, plenty of refills on your coffee. Great value normally, especially so with the mailer/online coupons offered. Perfect "diner food" experience, founded locally, owned and operated locally. Child friendly too!

The service was very slow. Had a beef dip fries and a salad hubby had a burger and fries with gravy. Everything was cold. The fries were soggy and the gravy had a thick film of crud already on top. But they did comp the whole meal. And the waitress was really helpful and kind.

Packaging needs work. Fry portions are inconsistent. Anything other than chicken soup is barely ever served on Tuesdays: (amazing staff though great burgers.

Food was excellent and service was great! Only drawback was the wait time for our appetizers and meals to arrive. Other than that staff was polite, engaging and fantastic!

I've been coming to this location for years. The menu has changed only slightly in all that time. Food is good, wait staff are prompt and friendly, and the prices are fair. Also, if you are like me and like ice chips (the small round-ish ice) that's what all their soft drinks are served with.

Busy Friday with coupons. About what you'd expect from Sals. Nothing special. Just good food. Average service.

*TOTAL LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE ** First time eating here last year, and was disappointed in the quality and quantity of their famous breakfast. And it took about a half hour or more for us to get our food. COLD! And so today I had called orderd 4 cheese nips, 15 minutes away from the place, got there and STILL WAITED OVER 30mins. And there was only 3 families sitting down to eat!

Everytime I have been here so far, it's been busy. But it's worth the wait, when I come here with family. Servers are always very fun and friendly.

The quality is really good and is worth the price.just you need to wait up to an hour if it is the dinner time.

Wife and I are regulars, we always try and get Paula as our waitress. Chee and Wendy run this store very well, great food, great service, prices are ok but what are you gonna do.

Our experience barely deserves 1 star. No thanks to the fact that I wiped out on the black ice 5 feet from the entrance. Thankfully upon being notified of my slip and fall, they promptly salted the sidewalk. We were seated quickly, but waited over 60 minutes for our 4 breakfasts, 1 chicken burger and 1 Salisbury steak. We weren't offered or received refills on our beverages. When our food finally arrived, everything except the 3 pancakes for my little one, was cooler than room temperature. The hashbrowns were so cold, they were hard and jabbed the inside of my mouth as I ate. The toast was buttered cold as it wasn't melted. When I complained, she asked if we wanted anything remade. We had been there 75 mins already and I wasn't keeping my little one out that late on a school night just to have warm food. The server said she would speak to her manager. I was shocked that the manager did not come by to give an apology, but rather relayed we could have complimentary drinks and desserts. I'm not sure what happened to the service at Sals, but shame on you. We could've ordered on skip or door dash and the same food would've arrived in likely 35 mins, still warm and I wouldn't be nursing a scraped leg with bruises and a sore hand from hitting the ice.

The Manager was absolutely fabulous, who was also our waiter. That was due to understaffed as a result of the customer sudden flow.

The meal came a little longer than expected but was really tasty, thankfully.

A good place for a great hamburger. I visited for over 20 years. It's always consistant food and service. Wafer pie and chocolate covered donuts are well known favorites.

Classic Winnipeg. We had some of the throwback menu items celebrating their 90th anniversary. Lovely staff.

Fantastic experience here yesterday! Used the Xdine App for pickup and it was really simple and smooth. Staff was extremely friendly and happy! I had a few modifications to my order (lettuce wrapped nips) that were excellently accommodated! The manager was on point, very friendly and professional-Keep it Up Sals, especially the 2ferTuesdays!

Food is always great. My only issue is, servers don’t go around enough with coffee refills. I get if it’s busy it can take a while. This day it was dead.

Love this restaurant. Have been a customer for literally decades. Miss the old lay out where I could walk up the stairs to grab my favorite booth but I guess change is good.
The new lay out is nice. Big windows and atmosphere.
Food is good, especially their cole slaw, always the best.
Great food, great prices and great staff. What could go wrong.
If you are a customer of this particular restaurant, be prepared to duck a lot and don't wear loud colors.: D

Usually I enjoy the food there but today it was horrible. I had the senior meatloaf meal. Over salty and bread burnt tasting. Doughnut was barely thawed. Sad to say all this. Will not be too eager to return.

Would've given 5 stars but was not offered a coffee top up.and for the amount one pays for a cup of coffee.would have been most appreciated.

The staff were friendly and came around often to make sure we were enjoying our meals. It took a little longer than I expected for our meal to arrive, but perhaps that was because of extra cleaning protocols. The food was delicious as always!

I like how Salisbury House has added glass dividers on some booths as it offers a little more privacy but does not block the view.

Ordered a late lunch delivery today. The burgers and clubhouse were ok. The beef dip was absolutely disgusting. Had one bite and threw it out. Tasted and smelled sour, same with the au jus. Definitely was not fresh, was tough and probably rotten.

I woke up this morning motivated to support local, one last time before the dine in restrictions begins again.

This will be my first visit to the Salisbury house on pembina since covid. The health and safety standards were on point. And they've even contructed raised barriers in the booth area that are covid compliant. The project looks expensive. It's a pity they need to shut down dine in again.

Today I had a order of the sals steak and egg breakfast. The serving size was massive. I was only able to finish a little over half of it. The leftovers will make for a good snack later.it was a good standard breakfast. Would have been a perfect meal for after the bar. Or to cure that next morning hangover. I'm certain I will be back. I really enjoyed my food on my birthday! To help celebrate, I paid it forward by treating a younger couple who were also dining at the Salsisbury's Restaurant on Pembina Hwy.

Sal's is a MUST if you are spending some time in Winnipeg. While the food may only be around 4 stars with price and quality, it is always consistent and the 'Nip' (Burger) has a very distinct flavor profile that even extends into thier own beer Red Roof, brewed by local Fort Gary Brewing. Historically this palce is a must and I will never forget the taste of a Nip.

This Sal's is also one of the quieter more tame ones than some. Some prefer it, I adore the one near the airport, but this location is very clean with great service and modern traditional dining.

Always friendly staff! The food was hot! And, Bob, who served my table, very attentive, and gave me coupons! Kudos to the kitchen staff too! I DIFFENTLY recommend THIS Sals first!

Always love Sals for burgers and breakfast sandwiches. A unique Winnipeg offering that everyone needs to try at least once!

Went two days in a row. They remodeled for COVID, but didn’t feel invasive. This place is great the manager runs it so well and knows every customer. Feels like the local dinner it is. We know all the waitress’s and they are really great. They are super busy but never let a table feel neglected. All around good spot. Our kids love the pancakes and potatoes. We just enjoy the great service and classic eats.

It was nice to be in a restaurant again. It was quick, safe, friendly, clean.but I'm never wowed by Sals. It was good, I'll probably go back, just not my first choice.

I was a little disappointed in Salisbury house simply because the food is overpriced in my estimation. Still very tasty, but compared to other similar restaurants I eat they are very rarely.

Salisbury House has gone downhill over the past 20 years. Food and sevice down, but prices are way up! Avoid at all cost.

I sat down for 10 minutes and nobody came to me to give me a menu or anything to drink. I watched 3 employees clean tables. That's terrible customer service and I will never go there again.

The food was good, but the service was lacking, the waitress dumped my granddaughters' cup of water all over the place, and proceeded to wipe it up very sloppily she splashed it on to my breakfast plate and carried on like nothing happened. When I mentioned this when we were checking out all they replied was "sorry to hear that" won't be going back there

This is another one of my favourite spots to go for breakfast. Everything they offer for breakfast is so good, i love their hashbrowns and scrambled eggs! So yummy

First time at the Pembina Location. Service was good the girl was friendly enough to earn a good tip. Delicious hot food and good prices. Yes, there are some obvious flaws in the overall cust service (time to be seated, 17 mins to bring the food, cashier, bfaces. Basically there is no effort in going the extra mile, but because I was expecting a fast food type experience I left the place happy and undisturbed:)

This is one of my favorite places to eat. It's very consistent, and the staff are friendly. You must order a slice of wafer pie! Actually get the whole pie to go.

My burger and fries were good but my coffee was cold. I bought the Sals silver burger and fries with coffee with the hopes of saving a couple dollars but it still cost me 16.00. Don't want to know what a regular burger costs. I did ask for cheese on my burger and gravy for my fries so i guess that's why it cost what it did.

Great place to get food if you are looking for old diner style food. The staff are all very friendly and your food is always hot.

Go to this place all this time! Good food and service! Prices are good too! Really can't go wrong and their red velvet cake is to die for!

It is what it is. The legendary Nip and fries is always a safe choice. All day breakfast is fine, but stay with the classics.

My waitress was Renee and she was super quick got the order perfect even though she was very busy on "Twofer Tuesday" this was the Portage Avenue and Westwood drive location.

Probably my favorite Salisbury House, usually fairly quiet when I come here and the staff are always friendly/chill. Good for late night dinning.

Long wait for ordering anything to go. Had to ask for a refund and then they kept the tip oh well. Seems busy would be nice to come back and see how the seated service compairs

Very disappointing both our orders were not right. I could make a better BLT myself I mentioned to waitress who was very friendly asst manager came to us he did give discount but he was not friendly

Love this Sals, the best staff in all of Winnipeg and the food comes hot and perfect to order. Been going for year and I just love it!

Stopped in for breakfast. Service was prompt and friendly. Server took our order and came back to offer a less expensive option to one order. Nice to have someone watching our budgets too. Food was good.

Typical Sal's.good, simple food at decent price. Service was attentive, restaurant was clean and well maintained.

Dinner food, but the real appeal are the "nips", breakfast in a soft bun. Interior has been renovated, the staff was very friendly. Tuesday has a special of 50% off, might be the best time for a quick eat. The poutine was average, but expected.

Holy! The lady working overnight shift on dec 07.she has a little birthmark on her face must really hate working at this place. The worst customer service have had in a long time.

This venue was nice and the server quite friendly. Good as far as Salisbury Houses go. With that being said, I honestly do not get the appeal of their menu.

Great food, great service. Didn't even have to wait for a table even though we arrived half way through lunch time.
