Sandman Hotel & Suites Winnipeg Airport

A lot of small problems with this hotel. Rooms are dated. Key cards never work properly. Water pressure is inadequate. Doors are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hallway. The crowd it attracts is somewhat seedy. There's no laundry room and the gym is small. No free breakfast.

The staff are nice enough, but this hotel needs to go.

The beds aren't very comfortable, at least in the room we had. The temperature was stuck at 21 and got hot at night. 23. The A/C had a brown fabric canvas cover nailed over it so there was no way to lower the temperature in the room. There was this weird vibration that makes the whole room/beds shake in the afternoon/evening. It felt like a vibrating bed at times which was disorienting and uncomfortable. Otherwise the fridge was cold, and there was a microwave and small coffee maker. Small but decent room for the price. They have a draw for leaving a review every 15th of the month.

My stay was very pleasant, and I was accommodated very well by the staffs. My room was well cleaned when i returned after being put. I am extremely satisfied

I have come back to update my review. Last weekend I stayed 2 nights here at Sandman and had some significant issues with some communication. I initially left a 2 star review as a result of my experience. I was unable to alter my reservation and had to return - Upon my arrival today for my one night stay I was greeted with a complementary basket and a very nice suite upgrade. The staff here went the extra mile for me and that makes all the difference. Hats off to the hospitality staff for caring.

Receptionist asked my wife for proof of my employment. She had to call me in to show my cheque stub to get the company business rate for employees. Not thrilled of being questioned about my personal life especially being indigenous

Was our 4th sandman hotel in a week on our road trip from Kelowna to Ontario. Had our car broken into over night and management and security went above and beyond assisting us.

Security managed to secure all of our items and the hotel management offered to cover our rooms and assist with repair of glass.

They definitely made up for an unfortunate situation and truly went above and beyond.

My family needed to stay close to HSC for medical reasons. The Sandman was easy to access and accomodating for all coming and going. Thank you.

The staff are exceptional and so are the house keepers! I booked a room on short notice and quickly got one. I had a ridiculously late flight that I needed to stay in Winnipeg for 2 days. I asked for the cheapest room possible and the clerk done an awesome job meeting my needs. There are 2 things I was looking forward to 1, Complimentary water bottles and 2, free continental breakfast. Other than that, there was a near by gas station and Dennys!

Nice room and service

Hotel property and rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds in rooms, however there was no water pressure when you turn om the hot water. We didnt love the pool area, was quite small and crowded. There were only 2 chairs for seating. Could probably add two more.
Doors in the property were often jamming causing them to be difficult to open.

Excellent staff who are very helpful, Will kindly and efficiently helped me find a room that better suits my needs. The rooms are clean and spacious. Wi-Fi is fast without interruptions so I can get work done. Beds and bedding are new, clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the walls are very thin - you hear every slammed door and pray that you don’t have heavy walkers if you’re not on the top floor. I recommend a room on the top floor, otherwise you might be disrupted by the foot steps and slamming doors.

Only reason why i’m giving the room 4 stars is that the desk chair is really worn out and is tearing.

Check in was a little slow and frustrating (20+ minutes) as there were a lot of delayed Air Canada passengers checking in at the same time.

We were also assigned a room that already had other guests already staying there. After the shock and embarrassment of being walked in on, this meant more waiting at check in to get an empty room, and apologising to the elderly couple who came back to find strangers in their room.

The staff were apologetic and did their best to rectify the situation. I was pleased with the suggestions they proposed to fix what happened and as a Diamond RSVP member, I will continue to use Sandman hotels again in the future.

Good experience at this hotel. Very friendly and professional staff. I’ve been there for work and the room are always clean and staff very accommodating.

Decent hotel that's pretty standard. But what sets it apart is the service. Pauline really stands out and you can feel that she goes above and beyond! Wood come again

Staff was amazing… gym was very good as well. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Front desk had shaving cream for me when I realized I had forgotten mine. I will be back.

Room stank rlly bad, we were told we had two queens and a pull out not sure what size the beds were but they were not queen waaaay over priced

Every time I check in the front desk are friendly and greet me by name
Rooms are comfortable and very clean
If there has been any issue that arose during one of my stays the Sandman staff have dealt with it promptly

Close to the airport, we stayed here because we had a ridiculously early morning flight. We booked a jacuzzi room, which increases my expected relative standard. It had an entrance/living room/kitchenette space, then doors to the bedroom/jacuzzi (with the ensuite attached off the bedroom).

They really should have ventilation fans above the jacuzzi - not great airflow, got a bit humid, but at least we could run the A/C at the same time. It took a long time to fill up because we couldn't properly adjust the water temperature - to get the most water flow, the water was automatically HOT (we're talking ~110F) ; to get more reasonable temps (below 104) the flow dropped significantly. I didn't realize this at first, so it was mostly filled with far too hot water, and we had to drain some and supplement with cool water from the kitchen sink to speed up the temperature balancing process.

The decor was rather plain overall. They don't use scent-free detergents, but it was manageable and we got decent sleep. The beds were comfortable enough. We'd probably skip the jacuzzi room next time, but it was a decent overall experience.

Our first room had a strong smell of alcohol/cigarettes, and we were moved to another room that was much better.
