Seagulls Restaurant & Lounge

Our Labour Day weekend at Seagull Restaurant and Lounge in Hecla Resort was absolutely fantastic! My family, including two kids, dined here, and the server was incredibly friendly and accommodating with the little ones. The food was exceptional, and the highlight was definitely the Burger Week Butter Chicken Burger – it was out of this world! A perfect dining experience with a view to match. We'll be back for sure!

Breakfast came faster than was expected. Breakfast bowl was delicious and fresh. Lakeview breakfast didn't look like it was worth the $15. Small amount of hashbrowns, smaller than other servings I've seen at various other restaurants. Rye toast seemed to taste like fresh bakery bread, it was delicious. Server was soft toned but polite, she came to check for refills often and was quick to clear plates.

Love this restaurant! Awesome location at the lake shore, incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. Recommend this place to everyone

It's a nice place. Just don't go when it's busy or at supper time or when there's still an hour and a half before close. The can't serve you in a timely manner. The kitchen you see is always behind. The restaurant wasn't even half filled and we were told it will be closed before out food could be made an hour and a half.
Nothing on this menu takes longer than 15 minutes to cook. A half empty establishment run by summer employed teenagers should be able cook a half portion of fish split it in half and call it 2 piece. If your thinking of a Wednesday afternoon early supper by all means go.
It's really special when you're told the wait time is too long and you see some of the staff out back smoking.
Could be alot better.but it gets a meh.

A great place to get some fish n' chips! Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. The wait staff were very kind and accommodating even though we arrived rather close to their closing time on a Saturday evening.

This place was in the weeds when we were there. Here are the important points summary:

-Server opened with a warning that they got a rush of ppl in, and we should order asap to avoid waiting 45 minutes for our food. So we ordered in a rush, thinking he would punch it in, then take the next tables' orders. Well he said the same thing to the other 4 tables and took their orders too before punching it all in at the same time. This made me wonder what the point of rushing us to order was. We're they just trying to turn over tables before they close?

-Cream of broccoli soup was a broth with no broccoli.

-I ordered a 90z steak medium rare. I asked what the vegetable was and was told Cauliflower and Broccoli. The server came back and said they have no 9oz left they can give me the 7oz at a discount. So I said fine. Well that 7oz steak is for their sandwich, not a dinner entree, which made me worried it would be an inferior quality. When the plate came out they had some kind of vegetable medley that looked like a salad but was cooked. Cooked grape tomatoes, julienned carrots, and cucumbers! Who cooks cucmbers? !? ! Yuck! What happened to the cauliflower and broccoli? ! The steak was not great either. It was thin and overcooked, and really only 3oz was edible because the rest was grissle.

-the pickerel entree consisted of 2 tiny pickerel fillets. Exactly 5 baby potatoes, and I mean BABY potatoes sliced in half. 1 piece of broccoli and 1 piece of cauliflower (they were larger florettes).

-We were on the patio and it started raining. Went I side to tell the staff they may want to lower the awning be because of the rain. 2 managers came out to see if I was telling the truth, to test to see if it's raining! 10 minutes later the server returned to our table to tell us that the awning is not waterproof to they can't open it as rain will just go through it.

-We finished at about the same time as the table next to us. We asked them how their dinner was. One lady said her fish and chips was undercooked and tasted like the fish batter was raw in parts. She also told us her friend didn't like her dish either.

-They did discount the bill but I wasn't there for a discount I was there to enjoy a meal.

6 of us had lunch at Seagulls in Gimli. It was bad to say the least. We ate numerous times at Seagulls in Hecla and it was always really good so we decided to go there instead of one of the local spots.

We had:
- 2 burgers. Cheap frozen patty, small size, wasn't worth the price tag. Quarterpounder patty from McDs is far superior and 50% more in size. One of us removed the greens because they had brown spots and didn't look fresh.
- Steak sandwich, asked for medium, was done medium-well or well done. It was hard and lacked flavour, though the amount of mushrooms they put on was nice and helped out.
- Fish and chips. It was okay, but far from the taste of other local places.
- Chicken fettuccine. The chicken was over-done and dry.
- The salad was fresh, no complaints.
- 3 of us who had fries hated them, but 1 of us liked them and took them all in a to go box:)

We sat inside and ambiance was of a diner. Nothing wrong with diners, but for the price tag wasn't worth it.

$155+$25 tip. Service was slow, it took about 10-15 minutes to get the first round of drinks (3 bottled beers and 3 pops), but the server was friendly so we didn't think it was her fault. I definitely regretted suggesting we leave Europa because of lack of nice ambiance and go to Seagulls. Should have stayed at Europa.

Absolutely delicious. Very tasty. Light on oils and salt, a truly wonderful meal. Just perfect. Will definitely be back.

Best restaurant in Gimli for other than burgers and pizza. Consistently good food and service.
