Sharkey's Cuts For Kids

We went there a few months back for my kiddo’s first cut, and while the stylist was good with my child, the cut ended up far too high up his neck and was very boxy. The seats the kids sit in were incredibly dirty and still full of hair, the salon was dark, and when we entered, 2 staff were sitting on their phones.

My daughter loves coming here! She will ask persistently for weeks for a visit to what she calls "the spa" to get her hair cut and styled. On our last visit we brought her brother who has a variety of sensory processing challenges and has a really hard time with haircuts (but has hair that grows really fast!). He did so good and actually loved his experience! The stylists are so good at being positive, caring, and playful with the kids, while also being empathetic, mindful, and responsive to comfort levels and preferences. It's about $10 more than we have paid for kids haircuts at other places, but well worth the difference for the happy memories and fun. At the end of the cut, they offer kids a style, colour / sparkle spray, a balloon and lollipop. Definitely encourage other parents to try this out, especially if haircuts have been hard for your child to tolerate previously. We will be going here for all our kids cuts!

Bridget does a great job everything I bring my son there. She knows what he likes, I don't even need to tell her!

Awesome staff.they really do their job well. Lindsay was very quick with our son, gave him an amazing hair cut while he would not sit and continously cried. Definitely recommend.

First time at Sharkeys for my baby’s very first haircut - Lindsay did a fantastic job. She was engaging, patient and effortlessly cut and styled his hair. My husband and I loved the final product. Will be back for regular hair cuts now, much thanks ️

I’ve been to sharkey’s 2-3 times and have been satisfied, but I came here yesterday with my 3.5 y/o son who absolutely hates his hair/head being touched, however, Lindsay blew me out of the park with how patient and amazing she was with my son, I’ve never seen anyone be so patient and understanding with him, she made him feel so comfortable and did an amazing job. 5-stars for yesterday’s service!

I made an appointment well over a week ago to take two kids for an appointment. We had plans to make a whole family day out of it and come in from out of town. Sharkey’s will not honour the appointment. They called towards the end of the day today to cancel for tomorrow and made no effort whatsoever to keep their appointment. Don’t bother with this place.

I booked online after calling a million times and no one answering the phone. It was confirmed for me on the site and when I showed up they said they didn’t have me in the computer and I’d have to rebook. They were quite rude and did not care that they had inconvenienced me or lost a customer.

They were not very accomodating, and were not at all professional. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking younger children here. I was also told they don't book appointments for kids under 3.

Demands that my 1 year old wears a mask while he's getting his haircut. If this were remotely possible for a 1 year old, masks are no longer required in Manitoba. We went to hair doo zoo, much more understanding.

This place cancelled my son's hair appointment twice in a row! Both times calling us the same day to cancel. Lady on the phone told me that certain stylist (who I didn't request but just got assigned to) calls in sick often. That isn't my problem and someone else could have perhaps been bumped since this haircut was already a reschedule. Anyway, not even wasting my time trying to book at that place again.

Great experience, hair dressers were awesome and lots to keep your little one distracted. Only took 15 mins for our 4 yr old to get his hair done and he hates haircuts lol.

We were 15 minutes late for our 2 year old sons hair appointment. We called ahead of time and the lady was very rude saying if we were not there in 7 minutes they would not be able to take us in. We traveled from out of the city to get my son his first hair cut and he was extremely happy to get one. Our appointment was for 12pm and we arrived at 12: 15pm, went to the door to get denied. The lady was rude and unprofessional.

My 2 year old was very scared to get his hair cut. We left other salons with him screaming and beet red in years. At Sharkey's he had a successful, happy haircut with zero tears:)

Kids love the place, they have toy cars as seats for kids games on offer play kids choice movies cartoons etc
Might be pricey for some havent really compared to other kids haircut saloons

Stylists were patient but it was super expensive and wasn't a great cut. I really appreciate the patience they had though.

Terrible customer service. First time we went we waited more than half an hour. Next time they gave our appointment away for being seven minutes late. No apologies. No offer to try to fit us in. Extremely rude front desk staff.

This place is great. My 2 year old has only had one haircut and it went horribly, so we thought we'd try Sharkey's. The stylist was very patient and very good with him, but he still wouldn't sit still enough for a haircut. She was very understanding about it. They have tvs and cars for chairs and several other features that are good for kids. Next time we're ready to try a haircut we'll be going here again.

This place is designed to make haircuts a fun experience for the kids. My oldest was able to play video games, while my younger kids get to sit in a fun car and watch a show or play with some toys. The staff work well with the kids and manage to get nice looking cuts despite their wiggling. I've taken the kids here for a few years now and have been happy each time.

Great stylists that are very patient with kids. Fun environment, with plenty of things to keep siblings busy while the other is getting their hair cut.

Cars for the younger kids to sit in, where they could watch tv (I'm thinking it was Netflix). Video Games for the older kids (PlayStation). My son had a temporary tattoo after his cut, and they had nail polish for the girls. Would give it 5 stars, but I felt the price for the cut was a bit high, considering I pay less for my own at a classically trained barber, which includes a shampoo, while this did not.

DO NOT BOOK ONLINE! Brought my son for a haircut we booked online (done this many times before) get there and told they have no record and the system glitches all the time. THAN WHY HAVE IT? Waste of time and they refused to take him offering an appointment three weeks from now. Unacceptable, terrible customer service with no note anywhere online that states they are having booking issues. Will not be bringing either child back at any time!

Bridget is fantastic! Seen her a few times for my son, she's been patient when he squirm and does an amazing job! Highly recommend both Sharkey's, and especially Bridget!

While the place has great entertainment for kids, I expected more experience in cutting hair for toddlers, after-all it’s a “kid’s specific hairSalon”. I didn’t see that in my kid’s hair as one part left longer than other and un-even haircut. Yes, toddler will move while doing their hair (they are kids) and that’s why you go for kids hair salon and pay extra for experienced hairstylists. I won’t come again, and I will try other salon experienced in toddler haircut. Staff were friendly, place was decent. If you have older kids who are older than 2, then this place will be good for you.

We were 5 mins late due to traffic so our appointment was cut (it took is 30 minutes to get here). So we rebooked and unfortunately our sons hair was cut too short.

Great environment for kids, warm and friendly staff along with reasonable prices, we'll be back!

We always request Lara, she is so wonderful with our son! She is patient and makes cutting a crazy 2 year olds hair look easy - I won't go anywhere else!
