Entered restaurant about 415.left at 430.no one came out to even acknowledge we were there. Music was too loud anyway. Just close down if you don't want customers. Second time trying there and bad service both times. Actually I cant even call it bad.the service didn't even exist. I even had to get my own menu.

We were visiting Gimili so wanted to try local restaurants. This place is surprisingly not welcoming since once we stepped in, the first thing the waitress said to us was they won’t split bill for us and will apply 18%…we ended up going to another restaurant which had way better service and of course split the bill for us and the deserved their tips. But not here.

I have been to this pub many times and the experience use to be good. But the last 3 times I have gone they haven't had any fish, the menu has gotten smaller, the food is slow to arrive, and when the food does arrive it is just ok/ slightly cold. The atmosphere is cool and the staff is always doing their best but if you are looking for a place to eat I no longer recommend. Looking for somewhere to have a quick pint give it a go.

At first glance this is a fun place to visit. Small and personal. Space for live entertainment and from the photographs of music artists, it would be a great place to spend an evening. However, the good stuff came to an end.

When we walked in we were well greeted and informed that there was no more fish on the menu. Oh well, let’s see what else we can get. Not much for main dishes to choose from although the appys were more plentiful. We settled for a clubhouse/fries and quesadilla.

After about 30 minutes (we were told that there was only one person in the kitchen) we received our orders. The sandwich was no where near what a clubhouse should be: it was two slices of bread, thin slice of chicken loaf and cheese, couple pieces of bacon and tomato. Soggy bread from sitting in the juice from the dill pickle. Fries were cool and soft. The quesadilla was pretty plain.

Sorry but I cannot recommend this place.

We had lunch in Gimli at this restaurant yesterday. First time there, and was very disappointed. As I noted many people so you have to wait a long time for your food. If they can’t get their stuff together, they will not keep getting clientele to come back. The waitress was good, but she also kept apologizing about the time we were waiting over an hour. Pickerel tacos were over done and had some weird teriyaki sauce on them that made them gross. And one friend had the club sandwich and she said it was quite good. If your kitchen can’t accommodate the number of tables and give a good timely service with your food, you should rethink or modify your menu to accommodate faster service. Very disappointing!

Absolutely great tavern. Very honest and straight forward staff, and the food and drinks were amazing! 100% will come again!

Stopped in July 20th at 550 pm a older lady serving was very very rude for no reason. Walked out so disappointed will never go back.

Our first time to eat here, and I must say that the food was beyond anything we had, the flavor of the maple vinaigrette on the garden salad, my friend and I had and I had pickerel and fries, we also ordered the ribbies, to share, my friend had the half rubs with fries, and my husband had full rack ribs and fries served with red cabbage slaw.coffee, tea and a Virginia ceaser.very friendly environment, always coming by to ask if we needed anything and even brought a warm water finger to rinse our fingers.such personal service

Try the deep fried cheesy dill pickels at Ship and Plough in Gimli. They use egg rolls instead of breading and deep frying them. So much better! PLUS they have the best latrines in Gimli - bar none!

Great pub in Gimli. Small menu but great selection of tap beers. They also have a lot of live music. Definitely worth a visit.

Very cool spot, lots of music memorabilia and a great selection of local beers on tap.i had the pickerel & chips and loved it.

My order was taken promptly and Services was friendly, server recommended a beer that was a great match to my request parameters. High quality food. The Bean/Beef Soup was excellent and evey spoonfull had more meat than anything else, the fish and chips were piping hot and the panko style battter was crisp and the in house tartar sauce was great. The price and the portions seemed in line with the style and quality of the food advertised on the website though indvidual taste here would be a signifigant factor. If you're looking for the most bang for buck perhpas skip it but if like me you were looking for a unique experiance I whole heartedly endorse. I'll definatley be back.

So delicious! Great atmosphere, and fantastic service! Highly recommend, and will definitely be back next time we are in town! The pickerel tacos were insanely delicious. The nacho platter was double layered, so the perfect balance of chips to toppings/cheese. The fish and chips were the perfect balance of fillet to side dish.

When I first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the dim lit decor and warm atmosphere. It felt like a nice family owned restaurant.

I ordered the cheesy pickles and the pickerel and chips. The service was friendly and good, the food was tasty. The prices of the items were really good. It was deep fried, but deep fried properly because none of the food was sopping with grease, which made the meal more enjoyable. The spicy mayo for the pickles was perfect and the restaurant made tartar sauce for the walleye was good as well.

I also recommend the Caesar for it is very good. Certainly one of the better ones I’ve tried.

Overall, great place to go have a chill meal in a nice atmosphere. Enjoy!

Owner is extremely unprofessional and rude and will publicly call customers out on his IG and Facebook with their full names and picture and middle finger emojis. If you look through the reviews, you’ll see multiple unprofessional and rude responses to individuals who have had a bad experience at this establishment

Whether it is a date night or going there with friends the atmosphere, food (fish tacos) and black Shiraz wine is a must.

The staff are real, attentive, friendly and inviting. Tracy and the others are always making connections and know how to make customers feel at home. They also promote live music and drag shows. This place is a must!

First time visiting this fantastic restaurant, definitely not our last! The pickerel was amazing, and the tartar sauce was the very best!

The food is decent but they always seem to be out of something. Every time we have been here we’ve been disappointed to find out that they were out of one of the items we came there for. I know it must be hard to gauge how much of something you will go through, but it’s always so disappointing. The portions are sufficient but not overly generous. However, the food is pretty good, especially the Mac and cheese, fish tacos, and bread pudding.

My wife and I decided to try this place out as we'd heard good things from a friend and were not disappointed. We had poutine and nachos, both were excellent and the salsa was amazing! We really enjoyed the music (not live at the time just what was playing over the speakers) and the staff was very friendly. We'll definitely come back!

Tried to order take out from this restaurant as there was no where else to get food at night on a Monday for our wedding anniversary. The server was so rude. Said they didn’t do take out even thought we were told from the hotel and it is posted online. And she hung up on us. Thanks! Will never recommends

Had fish & chips which were great. Junkyard dog was good, alot of bun; poutine had good gravy but the curds were cold. Personal preference to not be cold cheese curds. Food prep was a little long but great friendly service & non stop customers coming in as people leave, even on a Tuesday. Great find in a restaurant with local products.

The fries were good. But the portion was smaller than a fast food restaurant!

The hotdog looked and tasted like it was microwaved, on a store bought bun, that was cold. It was not worth the money. The weiner was withered, wrinkly, and very dry. AND IT WAS $14! I suggest removing it from the menu

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day was ruined

We came to this bar during Icelandic Festival. We were very disappointed that there was a coverage charge. The bar had hardly anyone inside and they turned so many people away because of the coverage charge. Sad.

We were impressed by the quality here- excellent service, tasty food, portions were just right and ambience. Oh, and good craft beer too!

Nice fun place great food and drinks and they often have live entertainment great place to visit in gimli

Very overpriced. Cost us $145 for pop, 3 poutines, plain fries and fish tacos. The baked Brie cheese was absolutely doused in vinegar. The poutines ranged in price from $12-$16 and were severed in a small dessert boat. Cheese was so cold that not only did it not melt, children picked the cheese out. Fish tacos consisted of a fish stick of tilapia. When brought to the servers attention we were offered to warm it up and I can only assume, because it was already put together, that it would have been microwaved. Had better cheaper poutine off the cheese curd truck at the fringe fest. Highly disappointed.

Scott ownes a real jewel. This establishment is great. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The pickerel tacos my wife had were fantastic, light, refreshing and filling. My pickerel fish dinner with homemade tartar sauce was terrific. The local made beer, Torque is a fabulous drink to accompany the fish. The dessert of bread pudding with ice cream is to die for. Fantastic visit, will definitely be back, hopefully when live music is present.

We have been to the Ship & Plough a few times since we started going up to Gimli to our summer place. The service is consistently friendly and the orders always get to our table quickly with the food still fresh and hot! Personal faves are the baked Brie (absolutely scrumptious with the Arborg bakery focaccia toasts), the pickerel sandwich and the fish tacos! Also the best Caesar’s I’ve had in a while! I just took our daughter there for her first time and she agreed hands down amazing restaurant! We’re for sure going to keep coming back!

This restaurant is allergic to money. Depending on whose working will depend on what services are provided for that day.

My fiance and I decided to come to Ship & Plough for a date night on a Saturday evening. We chose to sit on the patio. We ordered, a regular poutine, Montreal smoked meat poutine and cheesy pickles. We ordered fish tacos, but they were sold out of fish. The food was great, we enjoyed the spin on the pickles. My Fiance had an in house made beer which he enjoyed. Our waitress was fantastic! The inside of the restaurant was neat. Over all a good choice!

The ribs were so tender and succulent that they fell off the bone as you pick them up. A sweet tangy sauce with just enough spice to give a bit of warmth. Fries were crispy and well salted, but soft and fluffy on the inside.
Had a rum and pinapple juice and it was super smooth, the perfect compliment to the heat and tang of the ribs.
The rum and coke was also perfectly balanced.

Staff was friendly, and the atmosphere has a warm traditional / slightly rustic character to its style.

10/10 would drive up from Winnipeg 3 times a week to eat here if I could.

I visited Ship and Plough with a couple friends while we were visiting for a fishing trip and this is one of the most friendly and inviting bars I've been too in a while. Thanks for your hospitality and cheers from North Dakota!
