The Friskee Pearl

We wanted to try a new place for our anniversary. Nice place, but $44 for a lobster roll that is of similar quality to one you can get for like $12 at Soup, Sandwiches, and More. Service was pretty poor. I had the wrong meal brought and had the luxury of waiting for my food while my wife got to watch her's cool down in front of her (she didn't want to eat without me).
$170+ bill between two people.

Loved it! My friend suggested we meet there for dinner with our daughters. The atmosphere is perfect although surprisingly not as busy as I expected. We arrived in time for “happy hour” and I asked the bartender what cocktail he would recommend. I can’t recall the name…it was a honey old fashioned but before serving he lit a piece of wood inside the glass to add a smoky aroma which really elevated the flavour. I ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer (I know I know-but seriously didn’t have any bitterness to it and the whole grain mustard sauce made me want to lick the plate clean!) I again asked for the waiter to help me decide between the mussels or the clam chowder…and I’m so glad I did! The clam chowder is the chef’s mom’s recipe-so of course that’s what I ordered. It was delicious. Creamy but not heavy, full of tasty morsels, and with a bit of peppery heat at the finish. For dessert they had either pecan pie or crème brûlée…and my daughter and I chose to share the crème brûlée. A perfect sugar crust on top with delicious creamy custard and blueberries…a perfect end to the meal. I was too busy enjoying the food to take pictures but I did take a picture of the cocktail to tease my husband at home with the kids. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!

I went for both a lunch and a dinner.
Not impressed with the high prices, small servings, and lack of ambience.
The taste was just okay.
There are a lot of other restaurants in town that I would rather spend my hard earned money at.

Our first visit to The Friskee Pearl, a new seafood restaurant in Winnipeg, filled us with anticipation and excitement.

Let me begin by praising the deliciousness of the food. The flavors were exquisite, hitting the mark perfectly, and the textures added an extra layer of delight to each bite.

However, we were taken aback by the surprisingly small portion sizes, especially considering the prices. As we ordered the mussels to start, we were genuinely shocked by the meager quantity provided. It was disheartening to see that other establishments in the city offering much more generous portions for a similar price. The mains didn't fare any better—they were shockingly petite. Even though I don't have a huge appetite, it's rare for me to leave a restaurant feeling unsatisfied. Unfortunately, this time was an exception.

Another noteworthy aspect was the overwhelming noise level in the restaurant. The volume was so high that even my Apple Watch alerted me to the loud environment. The live music performance that evening suffered greatly from the excessive echo, making it difficult to comprehend the artist's singing.

Considering these aspects, it will be challenging for us to contemplate returning to The Friskee Pearl. At present, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Instead, I would encourage exploring other dining establishments in town that offer equally delectable food, coupled with a more pleasant ambiance and more generous portion sizes.

We were served by Maddison B who was friendly and engaging, providing top notch service. The drinks, salad and fish & chips were great and the lovely decor and ambiance made us eager to return soon.

Had dinner this evening at the Friskee Pearl with a group. Service was top Notch! Unfortunately the food fell short for me. The Oysters were delicious but extremely small. I also ordered the lobster and Artichoke Pasta which was delicious but the portions were again extremely small. Some bread would be a nice addition to this dish with a larger portion size.

The food is amazing! We haven't eaten lobster this good since we were in Maine! We will recommend this place to everyone! Good food and great service. We will be back!

I really liked my experience. We were there the first Saturday they were open. The service was excellent and the lobster roll was fantastic. I got the impression that the staff take pride in the experience they provide. It was very clean which is super important (clean bathroom means clean kitchen). I am for sure going back. Several other menu items intrigue me. I especially will be interested in going back when they have live music.

Beautiful atmosphere, so cozy place and the service was so warm and very welcoming staff.

I love this place, it's so new but has amazing food and the presentation of the food looking like fine dining restaurant, so clean and fancy.

I had fresh oysters as starter, the homemade spaghetti with clams are amazing my recommendation is paella or one of the sandwiches with lobster.

Personally, i appreciate restaurants who are making their own products instead of buying and selling like their own.

Prices are matching with the quality of the food, i can't wait to see what new things they will add more to the menu.

Definitely going again.

We tried out Friskee Pearl about a week ago. What an experience and transformation from what it used to be.
I must say we loved the decor and the subtle nautical theme.
Mum's chowder was so good. One of the best we have had.
Cannot wait for the patio to open.

Four of us went for dinner and enjoyed our time. We started with the oysters, which were of good size and the accompanying sauce was very tasty. I shared a chowder soup with my wife and thought it was also very good. For my main, I decided to have the club roll. It had good texture but I will admit it was definitely lacking in flavour. My wife had the fish and chips and it was definitely less than desirable. It appeared a bit undercooked perhaps, was not seasoned properly, and the chips were very unappealing (small, and many black pieces). Drinks were good and of average price. I see comments about this place being inspired by Canada's east coast. Having travelled to the east coast on a monthly basis for many years, I think they may have missed the mark a bit. Inside of the restaurant looks like a standard Keg or Earls. The music was not nautically inspired by any means (top 40?). I would also add that it seemed a bit loud for a sit-down style restaurant, it was hard to hear people at our table and our server at times. Not sure I would rush back for dinner. Would pop in for lunch and grab a soup and a pint. Cheers.

We entertained some clients at Friskee Pearl.

Food was so fresh and tasted amazing. The fish and chips were just like East Coast. So delicious.

Really enjoyed ourselves as did our guests.

The service and atmosphere were good. Unfortunately found it way overpriced for the portions served. The waiter raved about the clam chowder, honestly not much different than many others. Ordered Caesars, asked if we would like the restaurant specialty with all fixings, we agreed. Caesars came with two large shelled shrimp for an additional $8. For that price we thought the shrimp should at least be deveined. We had cheese toast transfered from one dish to another, an additional $14 was charged for 2 tiny pieces of toast. I think it wasn't necessarily the cost of the items, it was the fact that we weren't told at the time of ordering the upcharges.

atmosphere was really bad, the place looked like it was run down and old.taking over from earls I assumed they'd hit the ground running but it looks old, dingey and ugly inside. Not every intriguing vibes.

Sad to see such a good location be replaced by a dressed up red lobster

The food is INCREDIBLE and the atmosphere is so nice! Between 5 of us we all tried mums chowder, the souvlaki, the po-boy, the clam pizza and the fish and chips…all of them were delicious! Brayden was our server and did a very nice job! We will most definitely be back!

We've just been to Friskee Pearl for dinner. The Oysters Rockefeller, which we had as an appetizer, were delicious, although rather small. However, our dinner plates were, to say the least, underwhelming. My husband had the Lobster Agnolotti. They should have put the word "lobster" last on the dish title and in a very small cap. The food was lukewarm, and the bits of lobster were hard to find. I ordered the fish and chips which were very disappointing. The fish was mushy and I am not sure if it was completely cooked. The fries tasted as if they were of the prepackaged variety, and if they were not, they may as well have been. This dinner was over $100.00 and we declined coffee and dessert. The only beverages were 1 beer and 1 soft drink.

Oysters were lit. Drinks were great. Had the "walk the plank". It hit the spot after a hot day. I had the Paella and my lady had the spaghetti with clams. The best part of the entire meal was desert. The blueberry cream brulé hard on top, soft and delicate it the middle and the blueberries were firm and fresh like it was put together right before I put it in my mouth. Also Connor was great. He knows the menu and his fun facts were fun. I will be back. Thx Connor!

I had an awesome experience last week. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was exquisite. The service was absolutely awesome and the place looks so awesome.

Went there on Thursday 18 May 2023. Server named Connor was super attentive and brought our drinks and food in a timely manner. Food: Spaghetti with clams (very good), fish & chips (huge fish portion) and agnolotti (creamy sauce and very subtle lobster taste - okay). Would come back even if food was pricey. THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE NOISE. INSTALL TAPESTRIES ON THE WALLS OR INSTALL SOUND ABSORBING PANELS ON THE CEILING. Extremely difficult to hear person across the table without shouting at each other.

Had a really good first experience at the friskee Pearl. They had a fairly robust menu with many options. I had the po-boy. It was very full of lobster. Great flavor. Bun was soft. My only complaint would be the flavor of the bacon was a bit much and attracted from the great flavor of the lobster. My girlfriend had the clam chowder and said it's as good as any she's had on the east coast. Cocktails were good and imaginative overall a great new local restaurant.
