Lots to see and an hour and a half is not enough time. You really need to have a half a day to take advantage of all there is to see.

Giving this 4 stars only because my kids had a great time l. Planetarium projection quality was mediocre, the story of the film was great.

Some of the same exhibits have been around for over 10 years. It would be nice if they could get some funding to put something new in

New renovations really lighten the space! New exhibits and old classics make for a great day of exploring!

Every first Friday of every month, the museum’s attractions are free. Don’t look at your phone while in the Planetarium or you might miss the appearance of the Enterprise. Many exhibits for any individual. Explore Manitoba’s past.

An interesting museum featuring dioramas of the various regions of Manitoba plus a replica ship, the Nonsuch that you can explore.

Good place to go with kids and was fun to see. Will go again to see even more the next time around.
23 August 2023 7:48
Lots to keep a kid entertained! If your Indigenous, you simple self declare and you can enter at no cost.

These musicians are excellent. You felt the music. Love it. Venue could have been better. Musty smell in planetarium and even though we purchased the most expensive tickets we could not see the musicians. My suggestion would be to have them projected on the ceiling or the wall. Thank you.

Very interesting and informative. My Grade 3 students absolutely enjoyed every detailed display. Their favorite parts were the dinosaurs and the Nonsuch. I, myself, would love to go back and finish seeing what I walked by too quickly. Definitely worth the trip.

Quite a variety of options here. We took quite some time in the Museum Galleries, which was good.

I used to love coming to this place! Too bad they have chosen to comply with discrimination and won’t allow some people in.
18 December 2021 1:18
Always very entertaining. Love the old boat and the room with all the stars. My Husband and I went all the time when living in Winnipeg. Highly recommend to all ages.
17 December 2021 2:53
Have always loved coming here. The changes are fantastic. Love the improvements to the Nonsuch area in particular!

Flawlessly weaves "prehistory" and "history" together, ending in the immersive experience of Winnipeg as it was in the early 1900s. This allowed for a stark contrast walking back into the modern world. Great balance of artifacts, written information, technology and life size scenes to keep you engaged. Sadly, a chunk of the exhibits (especially the interactive ones) were closed or limited due to Covid, however, the curators still found clever ways to incorporate them into the story. Was not crowded. Almost empty, and a little short staffed but I will again attribute that to Covid. I have been coming to the museum ever since I was little and it never disappoints. I'd allot 3-5 hours out of your day to get the full experience. Highly recommend checking it out.

Got to see 1/4 of it, but from what I've seen, everything was very well displayed and very explanatory until I had to leave early. They've definitely put the effort the time and effort to give you such an experience to go back in time. I would love to come back and see the rest I wasn't able to see.

It is so nice and interesting that you immediately schedule the next visit considering getting earlier to enjoy it more

Love this place! Kids always love playing on the Nonsuch and I always learn something new every visit. Excellent and friendly staff as well!
23 November 2021 7:38
Wish more of it was open. The gift shop, planetarium and science section weren't open when I went on a weekday. Otherwise I loved the reconstructed ship and the history of the region.

If you haven’t been to the planetarium go for it! Worth every penny! You will be blown away with its movies makings technology ; everything seems to come close to you from all directions. The shows last 40 minutes about the recent landing on Mars and some current conclusions about its life sustainability. The museum is open every Sat from 11-5pm and every other Sunday. The shows is at 13: 00.

Grew up in Manitoba and came here for trips every time we came to Winnipeg! When we had our kids they came and loved it too. Love that they still have everything like they did when I was young so my daughter could experience it too. Highly recommend coming here for a great, true Manitoba experience!

I visited Winnipeg in May of 2019. Went to see a friend here and this place was great. Pretty cool museum.

I would also like to add we went to some donut shop. I forgot which one exactly or else I would have posted it in the appropriate location. Anyway we were at this donut shop and the customer ahead of us offered to buy us donuts. Very nice people all around. I'm glad I visited Canada before covid was a thing.

Lots to take in for a couple hours. Some exhibits have aged well but still look forward to future updates. Worth a visit, especially on the cold winter days in Winnipeg!

In my opinion they should have taken the time to update their galleries with the Covid closures. They have failed to reach out and inspire a younger generation. It's still almost the same place it was when I was a kid except the new Prairies Gallery. Kids today don't want to go and look at artifacts behind glass enclosures they want to interact with the displays. The Walking with Dinosaurs exhibit that visited in 2020 is a perfect example!

Top notch museum that explains very well the history of Manitoba and how the people, culture and landscape has changed over many thousands of years. The Nonsuch is a highlight!
07 February 2021 6:04
I remember loving it as a child and after my sons last field trip there I see nothing has changed. Great exhibits and a well informed and friendly staff. Keep up the good work!

After Covid is over I encourage everyone to check out the museums and other cultural places around the city. We need to support them in times like this to ensure our city stays as great as it can be

The museum is always amazing it's a great place to see history and the advancement and transition of humankind and it's exhibits that go along with it I thoroughly enjoy this experience mostly with classroom when when I'm with classmates and things like that and not necessarily the ones I've ever known but like the traditional like when I was going through school those are fond memories I try to hold them and cherish them I do the best they can to maintain my good memories I do the best they can to maintain my memories and my feelings

Great place unfettered construction new exhibit very good and well done lots of information due to covid some areas closed but very worth the donation yo keep this place going!

Excellent museum! The full scale sail ship and towns are truly awesome! The Hudson's Bay wing is neat and fearures a lot of Canadian history from what feels like a firsthand perspective. This really is worth the visit!
20 February 2019 9:21
Very educational. Lots of visuals that anyone can enjoy and appreciate while learning the history of Manitoba.
17 February 2019 16:09
Not much has changed in years and years, but actually a good museum that covers Manitoban history quite nicely. It is worth visiting if you are in Winnipeg. Go see the 17th century ship.
14 February 2019 20:32
This place is lots of fun but for the love of God why is there no place to buy a snack. Chocolate bars and chips do not cut it. We came with kids and were so shocked there was nowhere to eat once we all got hungry. We had to cut our visit shorter than we had planned.
10 January 2019 17:36
The Nonsuch has been fixed up quite a bit since my last visit. It's worth a visit. We also took in a show at the planetarium. The presenter was great. He started the show with by showing us several space craft including the startrek enterprise:) The museum is a great place to spend the day or get an annual pass and visit for a few hours whenever you like.
09 January 2019 21:18
An excellent place to spend the day with the kids to learn about the natural and human history of Manitoba.
01 January 2019 22:31
Remarkable place with ton of history. From things you find and see only in Manitoba, to Nonsuch, to Planetarium - this is a place that will keep kids and adults equally occupied.
18 December 2018 3:18
I love to visit they place when ever I can. Get place for anyone to check out and spend alot of your day.
09 December 2018 21:46
Interesting museum. Goes through historical changes of Manitoba, starting at the time of the dinosaurs and ending around the 1920s.
08 December 2018 5:55
Very interesting museum that takes you back to thousands and millions of years ago throughout the history. One of the most interesting stories in the Canadian History is around animal fur trade that Europeans expanded in the region. Hudson Bay Company built an empire on fur trade. The land they owned expanded to 40% of the entire Canadian soil. Beavers, Polar Bears and any fury animal were turned into coats and hats and decorations. For more than 300 years this business was very profitable, until in the 90s the company ended their fur business because they lost the demand for animal fur and anti-fur trade movement was growing. The Nonsuch ship replica was built by the company and is open to public at the Museum.

Have a soft spot for the Manitoba Museum. Find memories from my childhood. Some of the exhibits are a little tired and need updating.
