The U-Haul in Winnipeg way better than BC, BC U-Haul is terrible they treat you so bad and cancel your reservation I think workers should change that kind of practice.

Huge thanks to service manager Shaun, tech Mario and customer service David for saving us on our cross country move. Rear hub needed repair which they expedited for us as we had two pets in the truck on a very hot day. I cannot thank them enough for their thorough checkup on the rest of the truck and trailer we had to make sure we would get to Saint John safe and sound.

The 5 stars mainly goes to David if I am not mistaken. He was very patient and professional even in the cold, we saw him helping other customers and with a smile. It is a pleasure to see someone like that in our days. Wish u all the best and thank u very much.

Came to this location to get some boxes, waited in line for about 35 minutes, to than find out their system was down and they cant take any payments, yes they were dealing with another costumer that was pretty upset about something, but common, is it so hard to let the person know that the system is down? Such a waste of time. And to the girl that works there with the piercings and headband, you are very rude, and the way you talk to costumers, its just disgusting, worst costumer service I’ve ever seen

I rented a U-Box and had it scheduled to be picked up 3 days before I would be hit with another months rental fees. They did not pick up until after they had charged me for another months rental, even after I had discussed this with them in advance. I was told I would not get charged for another month and they charged me anyway, even though I had turned the auto bill feature OFF in my account. Very shady practises. Use another company.

I had reserved a cover trailer for 9 days and two days befor pickup they called a d said we could not have it for more than 6.

Left me hanging terribly for picking up my daughter in another province from school

Renter beware a reservation means nothing to them.

One of the worst service ever got. Manager was so rude and kind of resist. Made me wait for about 15 minutes before closing by doing nothing and decline at last by saying we are close now and not get paid after this time. When I ask her to complaint about that she said “ am the manager here you can’t do anything”.

I booked a 15-foot truck 3 weeks in advanced to help a friend move from Winnipeg to Victoria. The pickup time was 9: 00 AM. The day prior to picking up the truck, they offered a 26-foot truck at 12 noon.

This impacted us financially as we had movers sitting around for an extra 3 hours. We also had to pay additional fees for the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. When asked for compensation, U-haul did nothing.

If that wasn't bad enough, the truck they gave us had two (of four) rear tires that were completely unsafe. I had a flat near Lethbridge which resulted in the discovery of a completely bald inside dually tire. Additional inspection by an independent garage revealed that a second tire was worn beyond the general safety parameters of any tire. Both were replaced but we lost another 5 hours of travel time. Had this happened in the mountains, the outcome could have been a lot worse.

The experience wasn't all bad. The road side assistance process worked well. The receiving U-haul dealer was also very accommodating in receiving and documenting our complaints. But that's it - nothing was resolved.

It's my opinion that whatever controls and regulations are in place for truck rental agencies, they're not enough. This truck would never pass a safety check. It's also my opinion that this truck was given to us to "clean out" an undesirable fleet vehicle - perhaps even get rid of some old tires.

My advice: If planning a long move, spend the time to inspect the vehicle and don't just trust this company and their untrained staff. In researching other reviews including the BBB, this company has a horrible record across the board.

More people need to speak up. Regulators need to be more aware and actually do something about these types of issues.

Booked a 26' UHaul on Aug. 13th for a Sep. 24th move out of the province. Email I received confirmed that it was reserved for me to pickup somewhere in Winnipeg on Sep. 24th. We booked movers and had to be moved out of the house by the next day. On Sep. 22nd, UHaul called and stated there was no truck available. The only option was to drive to Brandon (2.5 each way) to pick it up and they refused a fair compensation for having 2 people take off work to drive 5 hours to pick up a truck that they confirmed would be available for in Winnipeg for that day. Not reliable.

The service was ok. Young, inexperienced adults that don't have the ability to do anything other than what "their manager tells them to do" and that's sad. No customer service skills are provided by this company and that's sad. Can't answer anything regarding a bad experience a customer may have had because they are not empowered to do so and that's sad.
Also notice that none of these reviews are replied to from management of U-HAUL and that's sad. What's really sad for customers is that U-Haul has no competition so customers have no other choices for renting a moving truck.

Monopoly, Monopoly, Monopoly, which equals no customer concerns and no customer service, shame on you U-Haul!

Had reservation for a trailer with loading ramp during the week. They have 2 of them. Show up there, first one has blinker not working. Switch to second one, same thing. Staff told me they can have Mecanics fixed it but will take some time. Go back to the office, turns out no one is available. Offer me to go to a location 30 minutes outside of the city. Explain I have appointments and can’t take it. Had to cancel my rental. I understand you have procedures to follow and can’t have a mechanic stop what he is working on but changing a bulb takes very little time. I’d would have appreciated the extra effort. Customer service was poor and staff didn’t seem to care.

Always stellar, fast, friendly service. Ru of the Dufferin location, and Colton of the Regent location were both extremely pleasant to talk with. U-Haul is making something big happen for me, a trailer hitch and 8 point lights for a very affordable price. When everyone told me to buy a truck instead of trying to tow with my car, U-haul considered my towing needs and ensured I found the right product. I have used U-haul for every move I have done, as the trucks are SO CHEAP. I am very excited to take on some summer adventures with my new ball hitch. Thanks U-HAUL!

Rented a u-box to put my stuff in when I got there the box was much smaller than listed I asked if I'd be able to take it and see if my stuff would fit in and if not just return it since it's smaller than advertised the manager told me if I take it off the lot I pay for the month to bad. They then made me wait outside the store for 20 minutes to get my refund the customer limit is two people but there was only one person in the store with the guy who helped me just standing at the counter the whole time on his phone. Terrible customer service rude unhelpful answers a zero would be more accurate than one

Completely stupid services U-Haul offer. Guys please carefully read the full contract before rent it. There are hidden charges which not shown on ur estimated invoice.

Sat on the phone trying to get my reservation changed for 45 minutes. Ended up getting a call back from Claire, she is the least helpful, miserable person I’ve ever dealt with at UHaul. I’ve had trucks break down, I’ve had reservations not be kept, I’ve had promises made by uhaul not kept due to lack of equipment, but this by far was the worst person I have ever spoken to or dealt with. Her condescending attitude is disgusting.

I woukd give them a 0 if I could I am currently sitting on the side of highway in their broken down truck 2 hours after calling the u haul road side assistance number. After the first hour they said they found someone to help me and they would be ther in 45 mins to an hour. At the hour mark I was told an additional 25 mins. It is freezing outsize, I am am freezing and still waiting.

Horrible! I suggest you avoid this company. I *reserved a truck from Brandon 1-way! They didn't have the truck and said I had only "requested it" when I had the reservation #. They told me the day before and I had to go to Headingley ot ON to pick up the truck and take it back! Then I got kicked out of their self pick up out of town! Not worth the constant drama and mess!: (

Rentaed a utility trailer that broke (the stand just fell out) and when I brought it right back after fighting with it for hours to use a jack to prop it back up enough so it wouldn't drag, they said "well you technically used it so we aren't giving you a refund".
I never got to use it at all, because I couldn't load a trailer with a broken jack stand that just drags on the ground lol
After some arguing back and forth with the manager, I finally got my refund, but I should never have had to do that.
They also had no other trailers to give me as a replacement.
I would avoid this place. Seriously lacking basic customer service skills.

I went to this location. They knew I was on the way as the location on King Edward (who was supposed to have my uhaul) called ahead. I got there 10 minutes before they closed. Lights were off. Door was locked. Guess the guy wanted to catch the end of the hockey game.

This location had all the parts I needed to install a new flat-four to flat-four+7-round adapter. The guys also helped me trouble shoot an issue in the system.
This will be my first stop, next time I need trailer wiring components.

Had a reservation for a 10' truck, they called a day prior to us moving and said it was unavailable. Clearly not happy, went down to the Regent location to address the issue and to figure out other options.

I ended up with a Ubox which was a slightly less costly but didn't fit nearly the amount of stuff I needed to move half way across the country!

All in all they were misleading on the equipment available as well as the delivery date on the U-box. They kept ensuring me it would only take week. It took two weeks, the maximum period as well as the drop off Kelowna location having several issues with fork lift operators not being scheduled, propane tanks empty and overall utterly terrible management. It took me three trips to Kelowna to finally get the U-box!

At the end of the day, I should have hired movers. Would have been cheaper, and way less stressful.

Trailer hitch installed on my Jeep almost a year ago; first time I tried to hook up a trailer to it all of my tail lights died on the right side of my Jeep.uhaul had spliced the trailer wiring into the right rear tail light - rather than use the factory coupler for trailer wiring - causing a fault.

Yesterday I go to hook up my trailer to move to BC and no lights at all. I called uhaul, and was told to "Drop by anytime 7am to 7pm to have it checked".

So I drive down at 5pm and they tell me that their tech went home and come back at 8am tomorrow (today). So today I show up AGAIN at 8am and they refused to look at it. They now say that they're too busy and told me that their next appointment was on August 28th (1 month from now!).

I took my truck to Saturn trailers and this is what they found; a heat shrink connector that wasn't shrunk at all. That turquoise powder you see coming out of the connector (photos attached) used to be copper wiring - before it rotted away with unfettered exposure to the elements.

I probably would have skipped leaving a bad review anyway; except for the "sorry we can't get you in to check the wiring for a month" this morning. That's too much. What good is a "lifetime warranty" if they refuse to get you in?

Nothing but trouble with this trailer hitch ever since it was installed.

Bought boxes and moving supplies here. This location is nice and I wouldn’t bother recommending any others- it is a giant warehouse and they carry all the products that uhaul advertises as far as moving goes.

The staff were helpful and loaded my car up with the purchased items.
Afterwards we were able to return the unused boxes with no issues, very simple process.

Had a bad experience. Staff unexperienced with their policies and very bad customer service. I was charged for an item that I was told it’s not available when I went to pick up. Staff were unable to understand that miscommunication started from their end. Be very careful when you use your credit card over the phone with any of this store staff as a hold could end up in a charge and double charge as in my case

All the staff working at the Regent location is very knowledgable and super friendly.
The process to rent the trailer is simple and straight forward, starting when you get the quote until you return the trailer.
I will rent again from U-Haul when I need it.

Be careful and make sure you check your credit card for extra charges. I rented two uboxes and had them stored for 1 month. They charged me for an extra month, its been over a week and I still havent received the return. At first the girl at the front desk almost tried lying to me saying the charge was justified.then when I spoke the manager she said it was an over charge! I dont know how many more times I will have to call about this, so frusterating.

Buyer beware for cheap trailer wiring on your car. In the last few years I noticed the wiring was done so poorly, they never screwed both of my rear brakes light back on.

So far my experience has been very frustrating. It took a long time to make a simple reservation. The fellow said his computer wasn't working properly. I finally got the reservation only to find out the reservation was for the wrong pick up time. He then fixed that only to charge me double the price as he put the wrong drop off time. I called to get this fixed and was on hold for a long time and then was transferred from one person to another, who kept saying they weren't the "right" department to fix it. I can only hope that the rental goes smoother than the reservation. Who would think it would be this difficult!
