Excellent hotel. The hotel manager and personnel are friendly, approacheable and helpful.
The place is covenient for transport going to Mc Allister mall, walmart and other shopping places.
ILast but not the least, I will recommend this to filipinos going here at st John, Canada to stay on this place that they will never regret.

Going with my hockey team for a tournament and it was very good although some of my teammates had mouse poop in their beds. Also there was only one elevator in the intire hotel, they should make the pools warmer.

This was the perfect hotel for our needs. Close to everything, the recently renovated rooms were comfortable The breakfast was great, and all of the staff was friendly and efficient.

Was a great area great price.my husband and I stayed 5 days the room we hade hade been upgraded bath tub was not.no microwave.asked why no anser beds where really hard on my back.min fridge didn't keep cold at all will not be going back I fell watting 40 mins for elevator is crazy on 7 floor pool and hot tub are down

This is in regards to the pool service at the Best Value Inn…I had wanted to upgrade my membership from single to family, but was informed that due to the fact my sister/friend had more than 2 kids we were not allowed to. I left very unhappy & with 5 disappointed children & demanded a full refund back. I will never return to this hotel for anything.

Ok motel. They are doing renovations so the place was messy. We had no hot water for the two nights we stayed. Phone in the room did not work so couldn't call down to the front desk to complain. Mentioned all of this to the front desk at check out. Manager was suppose to call us but never did. Hot tub was still being renovated. Only one elevator and it's cramped with 2 or more people in it

Positives: breakfast was good. Pool was a hit for the kids l. Staff was friendly

The hotel was under renovations but most of the renovations were completed. The room was nice, with a nice view of the port. The staff is extremely welcoming, friendly, accomodating and professional.

Wifi kept cutting out, but I'm sure it's just because of the renovations. It's still my favorite hotel to stay at when I'm in town:)

Staff on check in were nice, but on check out appeared disinterested in my comments about my stay. Still, I recommend this hotel.

This place is under renovation and that in itself didn’t bother us, but it may be the reason for the multiple issues my husband and I experienced while staying here. The wifi was so weak we couldn’t get anything to connect to it, the TV was super staticky, grainy, and hard to watch, the hot water was non-existent (lukewarm at best), and there was noise in the hallways almost all night. For the price, this is all fairly inexcusable.

The room was clean, the heat worked, the morning breakfast was good, and Carla at the front desk was lovely and doing her absolute best. Unfortunately, that stuff wouldn’t be enough for us to stay here again. I would suggest finding somewhere else to stay until the renos are done.

Deception By male night clerk on check-in. Two families check in, one parent and three children and in other room, two grandparents, both disabled. Checked into room with NO disabled features. Clerk knew, by sight and word, that we were the ones needing special amenities and gave us wrong room. Stated that Disabled rooms on 1st and 2nd floor, under renovation, but we would have a walk in shower. We brought our own equipment but GrandMother unable to shower as tub inaccessible. Found out later that our daughter and team coach both had walk-in showers. Time to eat. Advised that breakfast room on 8th floor, as we were. Wonderful. However, Grandparents could not avail themselves of convenience since stairway to restaurant up a flight of stairs. Making reservations, assured that hotel had a pool. It did. It was closed due to renovations. Understandable if informed beforehand but clerk denied duplicity. All female staff were wonderful and helpful and apologetic for misadventure. Wonderful female staff. Finished rooms do not deserve 3 1/2 stars unless king given out by third grade teacher. Prepaid almost $400 beside room cost. Was told prepayment of $20 for incidentals. 3 days to re-coup. Never again, never again.

Everything was new renovated, clean and the staff amazing! Food was so good and tasty. Can’t beat the price and value. Highly recommend!

The place to be in 93. Check in was very quick and hospitable, friendly staff was kind and helpful. We were notified then that the swimming pool was out of service due to renovations, it happens and someone will have a new pool area to enjoy in the future. Room we received was recently renovated, tile floor and walls in bathroom with glass walk-in shower enclosure big enough for two or more. Heated Mirror with built-in lights. 45 inch wall mounted TV with wardrobe desk and USB ports everywhere for charging your devices lots of choice of room lighting with large picture window overlooking the city! We happen to be on the 8th floor which was very nice, and same floor as the morning Buffet. The hotel is centrally located whether you're in town for golf, a work convention, or nearby shows at say the Imperial theater, it is all a short taxi ride away. There is a shopping mall two blocks from the hotel walking distance with everything you need for last minute items. I would give this hotel experience three stars and if and when the pool, lobby, restaurant and the rest of rooms are renovated maybe 4!

The hotel is being renovated and is really motivated to attract new clients. The buffet breakfast overlooking the harbor fully exceeded our expectations.

Good price, breakfast included (eggs sausage potato wedges etc), room nice king size bed with couch. There was pool table, slot machines and restraunt on the main level. 15- 20 min walk to uptown restaurants.

Nothing on site was available as advertised no pool no restaurant only half the arcade stuff availabke and its never open as advertised place is a dive

L'hôtel était en rénovation donc la chambre qu'on a réservé sur Booking ne correspondait pas à ce qu'on a eu. Uniquement les chambres en dernier étage étaient rénovées. On a eu le droit aux bruits des travaux dès le matin. Il est toutefois situé très près du centre ville. Le petit déjeuner inclus est correct, il y a du choix.

It was disgusting the rooms were gross the bath had mold the sheets were stained and the pillows too the service was horrible never go there I went when it used to be called the Howard Johnson and the window broke and they made us stay there when snow was coming into the room and the photos of all the nice rooms there's only 2 room like that in the entire hotel

I think this hotel was pleasantly deceiving. It doesn't look very nice from the outside, or from the lobby, or from the elevator, but our room was beautiful. It was clean and I loved that there was no carpet in the room. It had some fancy stuff like a wireless, colour-changing charger and a heated mirror. The view was lovely, too. The free breakfast was pretty basic but the biggest disappointment was the pool being closed! We didn't read this online anywhere prior to making our reservation and we would have picked a different hotel if we had known. The people at the front desk said that we could go to a different hotel and swim there, but that was too inconvenient.

The room was decent.
Check in was difficult and required forms, ID and you can't use the credit card on your phone (unless you wait in line twice).
Entertainment rooms:
Front desk watched us climb stairs and try to open locked doors without a word. The so called entertainment area ends at 7pm. You can play pool at night but the bar is closed.

They are renovating and it desperately needs it but leaving the stinky carpet to be changed last and to start work on the swimming pool is just dumb. I regret booking here for my vacation stay. If you only want to rest your head the rooms are clean. Oh and there's only 1 dolly for your luggage so be prepared to carry everything.

Breakfast ends at 10am which leaves everyone rushing to get something to eat because who wakes up early on vacation. It was sad. The juice machine was out and barely gave us water.

On a positive note, props to the cook at the Vegas restaurant. I still have dreams of your seafood chowder.

It worked in a pinch but the place is in rough shape. The rooms are newly renovated but the common areas are run down.

Stayed here over two nights. First night was in the renovated king room with jetted tub. It was visually appealing on the surface, but unfortunately the room hadn't been properly cleaned. There were hand/finger prints across the TV, lamps, plugs, surfaces, etc. Along with other unknown substances on the headboard.

Second night, stayed in an unrenovated king room. It had been cleaned properly, and suited my needs.

The staff were all great and friendly.

I can't speak about the breakfast as we left for surgery prior to eating time.

Location is great. Minutes away from the downtown/harbour area.

Kinda let down that I called ahead of time about the pool to find out when we arrived it was closed. Gratefully they let use go to there sister hotel to use their pool (daysinn) it was closed at twelve no one told use prior to leaving the front desk.or when we left our hotel great full to the handy man checking the levels and letting use stay threw his service hour. Breakfast is served on the 8th floor over the harbor great views but really bunched together buffet for having all that space just being picky not a crowd in the morning person so maybe it's just me. No air port shuttle either but very clean well renovated and would recommend the stay with kids even though the fun centers where closed as well so guess we just had bad luck this trip but would recommend it to others

One o the best placed hotel in Saint John if you are looking to avoid the downtown crowd and looking for a peaceful stay with great view of the harbour area. Clean hotel with friendly stuffs and lots of amenities.
A bathroom exhaust would have been perfect.
My overall experience was great on the first visit.

Very nice hotel, pool and changing area could use some renovations and the restaurant is a bit out dated feeling and could maybe use a new branding.

Overall food is good, rooms are clean, pool is enjoyable and staff are great!

Great location and price, lobby is dated but rooms are all newly renovated, the hotel is going to update the lobby soon, if you need fancy lobby, this may not be your best choice, but if you only need a nice room for your stay, this is a great option.

Dirty rooms, bad service, and signs of bed bugs. Upon entering the room used towels were on the floor and the bathtub had green spots. I did not feel comfortable showering. The wifi was terrible and didn’t work. I was in a room with two double beds. One bed had a bed bug sheet on it as the other did not. The bed that had a sheet you could see red stains (usually a sign of bed bugs). I had a very hard time sleeping and felt itchy. I’m not sure if it was just in my head because I was worried about them or if there are actual bed bugs but I will be taking precautions and washing everything before returning back home. Oh and there’s no drinking water. It’s commonly known that you should not drink Saint John tap water and the hotel does nothing to provide anything but tap. I didn’t have change for the vending machine so I had nothing to drink. I had to leave the hotel at 1 in the morning just to buy a bottle of water. The room was $230, I would hardly call that a value. The Hampton has the same style of room for $140, it’s ridiculous. I only stayed here because all other hotels in the city were booked and regret not planning ahead. I would avoid this place at all cost.

Very bad in terms of cleanliness, especially in the kitchen, because the dishes in which the food is filled are solid, and I sent after the lady who was taking every name of a customer staying in the hotel to serve him breakfast, and the food must be refilled faster so that the customer does not wait for more than two minutes, and the official asked, but the tension was resolved Regarding the matter, please take care of the public health and the restaurant, and the responsible person must be held accountable and the kitchen and presentation matters should be reconsidered. There must also be a larger staff for the hotel to clean the rooms, and cleaners must be placed for more personal use. As for the declared price, it is not correct at all. I pay $155 with tux and $50 deposit and it will be returned upon departure for one night. Please reschedule the restaurant section, cleanliness and take more care.

Pour le prix, très abordable, la chambre offrait un certain confort et était très propre. Seulement de passage, l’hôtel a su répondre à nos besoins. Tout le personnel, lors de notre séjour, était très gentil. Certains espaces de l’hôtel ont certainement besoin d’un rafraîchissement, mais cela n’inclut pas les chambres. De ce fait, ça n’a pas affecté la qualité de notre séjour. En terminant, l’hôtel est situé près du centre-ville ce qui facilite les déplacements.

While a mixed experience over the years I have to say that during my brothers hospital stay in the area recently CBVI came through! Rates adjusted for family and friends of patients and remote accommodations honored for those with little or no funds. My home church SCC in Fredericton made arrangements for two nights and I didn't do a thing! Thanks church! Thanks CBVI!

Friendly staff! One of the overnight guys was super helpful and friendly even when my family was all tired and frustrated lol. I didn’t expect the rooms to be so beautiful! They were really nice! We very much enjoyed our stay! Also has a nice restaurant! The pool and hot tub was nice and clean! Great location! And great views around!

The staff, accommodations, and food was disgusting.
How does this place exist.
The rooms were dirty.the food was cold. No breakfast, and the staff. Right out of kinder garden had about most customer loyalty and friendlyness as a one headed monster.
This was the biggest waste of time and money I ever spend.
If there was negative stars they would of got the max.

Note that the rooms they advertise online that are newly renovated are only on floors 3 and above, which are not pet friendly. Pet friendly rooms are the first two floors, and these floors only have double beds (not ideal if you are tall).

After much deliberation for over an hour with my third party and the hotel they finally agreed to give my money back as I could not get the king bed I had booked since I had my dog with me. The rooms on the first floor smell musty and are gross in appearance. The front desk staff were clearly annoyed with me as they ignored me when I thanked them while leaving.

Room was beautiful and modern. Great amenities.

Cons: window had head and hand prints all over it. Kind of ruined the view. Shower door barely stayed door due to not being level.

Pros: Wireless phone charger, comfortable bed and bedding, free breakfast, games and entertainment as well as a pool and gym all on site.

Recommended for a budget stay.

7 of us spent a week here for a funeral. The staff treated us like family. Any issues or requests were handled quickly and without question. The restaurant staff were hands down the best service I have ever had. I can't thank you all enough for making a difficult time in our lives so memorable

Le personnel à la réception très arrogant et désagréable, je fais des allergies à la plume, les oreillers sont en plumes et était très désagréable avec moi puisque je lui demandait s'ils pouvaient m'offrir un oreiller sans plumes. Les chambres sont passables mais le reste de l'hôtel a besoin de bonnes rénovations. L'extérieur pas accueillant non plus. Pas a recommandé et d'ordinaire je ne post JAMAIS de mauvais commentaires.

Not the cleanest and I had alot of ants in my room because there was food left behind the nightstand that had been there for sometime

The newly renovated room was fantastic! Comfortable to sit / lay in with a beautiful bathroom complimenting it! We ate at the restaurant in the hotel lobby and it was real good food, with more than fair portions! The hotel itself is located in an incredible spot with all kinds of things to do both inside the hotel itself and nearby! Thank you for a fantastic stay over this past weekend for the car show saint john staff!

Was a good place to stay. I should suggest perhaps getting friendlier house keepers. The one who was on out floor with her hair in a bun, short lady with glasses was not so nice, and had a bad attitude. Many different situations with her but one that sticks out is when she came and knocked to see if we wanted house keeping we said no and she said are you sre because I'm off early and I cannot be coming up here later to do it. When we said no thank you, we meant it. Besides the bad experiences with her. 10/10 would recommend.

Ps- need some better opinions for breakfast, or atleast label what is in the pre-made bags done up because of allergies.

Walking in I thought the exterior looked dated and going up the elevator was snug and also dated but I'm told those are in the list to be updated. I walked in the room and it was very clean and seemed newly done! The bathrooms were also very nice. I loved seeing a stand up shower instead of a bathtub.
My daughter had so much fun in the game room. Even if we never left the hotel, she was amused. There was so much for her to do! Bumper cars, lazer tag, arcade games and a pool. She said it was her favorite place to go.
The people who work there were all very friendly and eager to help.

When they say you get what you pay for they are right. This wasn't the worst but not the best. The toilet is so close to the sink you hit your elbow everytime. There are basically no plugs, the tv didn't have netflix and basic cable. The staff were great and the pool is really nice.

If you stay at this hotel I hope you have the honour of having Eric at the front desk.
Eric went above and beyond to make my partner and I very comfortable, We did not travel to SJ under the best circumstances (passing of my grandfather). Eric was able to completely change our mood. Paying attention to detail in our lives, his outstanding customer service skills I can confidently say could turn anyone’s frown upside down.

The room was re done and outstanding. Beautiful view, better sleep then I have at home. So much to do for everyone and we will 100% be back.

I have stayed at this hotel 4 times in the past 6 months, the room i was in was nice and clean and the beds comfortable, on the last trip i stayed in a newly reno.room that can contend with high end hotels.the food in the restaurant is great, everything i have had so far has been great
The only thing i was not happy with was the amount of the cash deposit for the room, i stayed one night and it was $200.00 and when i returned 2 1/2 weeks later it was $250.00 to much.after a guest has stayed there a few times they should become a trusted guest and wave the deposit or lower it, this would be good for older people as i am
