Dooly's Billiard Room

Wouldn't let us play pool because, as pedestrians, we had bags with us. Wouldn't even let us leave our bags with them while we played.

Love the general atmosphere and service there. Warm, friendly staff!
Definitely recommend! Despite a couple previous reviews regarding a particular bartender, I know them all quite well and have always been treated with kindness and respect! I guess you get what you give perhaps!

There was a short girl who was bartending, she was very rude and unprofessional. While playing pool the lights were turned off more than once. It was a horrible experience. The other bartenders were okay. The tiny one was terrible from the beginning.

This is a great pool hall, with fantastic and friendly servers. I mainly go for a quick beer if I'm in the neighborhood, or shoot some pool in the afternoon since they re-felted all the tables.
Their great mood is contagious!

I felt inclined to give a review on here, since I came across the last five reviews paint this Dooly's in a bad light. (Please ignore those) Most of my experience in my 25 years of restaurants is as a General Manager in high volume places. I am a semi-regular there since moving to town, and there isn't one server there I wouldn't hire, because they are all great at their job!

There are so many reasons outside drinks, and/or food are not allowed, in any establishment that serves these items.
The first on this list is the possible loss of a sale.
Secondly, it could contain contents are unknown. If a beverage has alcohol from the outside, a bartender has no way to know how much the patron/guest has consumed. Thus the duty of care for the server is not accurate.
This is a huge liability for the server and establishment.
Lastly, it's either licensed as a private business, or maybe a club, as some pool halls used to back in the day.
As such, the rules are posted, or let be known to individuals upon entering, (Meaning no sign has to necessarily has to be posted) Which I can gather, they let you know upon entering.
I could further expand on any of this, but the point is made.

Sorry the review was long. I just felt I needed to clarify a couple things.

Dooly's Prospect is easily the best one in Fredericton!

Definitely go to the downtown Dooley’s if you want to be treated with an ounce of respect. If you’re a young adult coming in for your first time and you see a short brunette bartender coming your way, turn right around and switch locations. It’s not at all worth it. She’s ruined the uptown Dooley’s experience and we will not be returning because of her immediate and unnecessarily foul attitude. We have never been treated with such disrespect at any establishment before. Don’t expect newcomers to know your house rules. If someone is unfamiliar, do your job and inform them nicely. You don’t just come up scowling at them and hit them with an attitude that could kill an army. If you don’t want to work around people, don’t be a bartender at a pool bar. Wake up. Prospect St. Dooley’s, I’d recommend reevaluating the shorter brunette bartender who worked the night of February 28th.

Bartender was extremely rude because I didn't know I wasn't allowed to bring a gatorade in, they were immediately hostile to a new customer for a rule that wasn't written on their door. I will not be returning to this doolys.
