East Side Mario's Saint John

Extremely slow service and no check back. Some of our group finished eating before others received their meals. No opportunity for unlimited bread and salad because no one came back to check. Four of us had Italian wedding soup. Not one meatball in the group

I feel like this is a skewed review. But, we went here tonight for dinner. December 31,2023. The atmosphere was clearly, here is your food, get out. We ordered an appetizer, it never came, we got one loaf of bread, and my glass was empty for 3 quarters of the meal. The food was okay, we eat, but I left unsatisfied. I called, they apologized and blamed the entire concern on reservations. We were there around a quarter to eight, the place was by no means busy. I hate it was such a poor experience. I think we’ll go elsewhere in the future. I know they don’t care.

Nice atmosphere but the pasta is disgusting they don’t cook it enough, and the service sucks, they take forever to bring you water and drinks even when it’s not busy.

I had wonderful experience with my waitress alec, by the time I was leaving I felt like me and him we’re good buddies. Great guy!

Wasn't impressed with the dish. Pasta was warm but not hot as it should have been.
Salad was 90%lettuce.
Calamari was delicious

Food was good, service was good the only draw back was it would have gone better with more than one server for the group we had.

It started off good at frist but then we ordered our drinks and got dif ones and then we were ordering our supper and we got mottsa sticks, 15 mins later he walks out and says they don't have mottsa sticks, who dosnt have mottsa sticks.the food was pretty good tho.

I wanted to trying east side Mario’s once since their parking lot was always full during weekends? We did on my birthday and I found the reasons.
Food was good and the drinks too
Ambience was great
Staffs were great
Not too pricey
Overall I will definitely recommend this place

I had eaten half before I remembered to take picture. This is now my favorite dish but it comes with a WARNING DO NOT ORDER IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HEAT! I DO and even I had water and a pop close. It has a Cherry Bomb Pepper (Whole) in it. DO NOT EAT you can but I never will! 10/10 for me.

The grilled chicken was undercooked, and some of the dishes were too salty. Also, the chicken wings were too much oily. Service and atmosphere were comparatively good.

They took our order, after waiting 20 minutes over the estimated wait time we called to check on our order as I am having surgery the next day and need to eat before a certain time. We were told it got cancelled, and we were never contacted!
After being on hold for 15 minutes to talk to a manager, they then claimed an order was never placed, then that it was placed in Saint John's Newfoundland, then that she took the order herself and that it had been picked up, when we had ordered delivery.

If we could give 6 stars we would. Service was great, food was hot. Good sized servings, and awesome quality/taste. You give your cell number, and they text you when a table is ready. Now we understand why the parking lot is always full!

Very expensive for what little you get. I had dropped into the restaurant several hrs before to make the order. When I went back to pick it up at the scheduled time the order was not ready, nor did they have any idea what I was talking about. They eventually found it, came up with some excuse and I ended up waiting for 30 min for an order I had made hrs prior. Not impressed at all. As for the food, not great, not even really good. Our teenage boys barely touched it. That's saying something.

Great place and great, our waiter was a Colombian guy Jhony, he took the service to another level! Amazing place definetly a must go!

My server Nicole was fantastic! She was friendly and efficient. She even entertained all my picky requests, through all this, she remained smiling and professional. I know I'm alot to handle in a restaurant, kudos to her! Solid 10 for service, and the food was also amazing!

Decides to try this place had not been to an East Side Marios in a long time, what a surprise when we got there. We entered and was not greeted by the hostess for about 4 minutes even though she was standing right in front of us at the desk the whole time chatting either a co-worker, after 2 minutes she at least told use she will be with us shortly. She wasn't doing anything just standing there and she was not pleasant at all. When we were finally were seated our server was very pleasant and friendly (she would have been a way better Hostess, she even smiled) food was ok traditional East Side taste, food was consisted with what I remember when I was last at a East sides. Budda Boomers were a good appetizer, and desserts were good, server cleared table of dirty dishes which we were grateful for as each serving was brought out, Tables were small so that helped as I noticed other customers had lots of plates on thier tables and thier severs didnt offer to take away used plates till after they left, our server checked on us several times. I gave the server a nice tip just hope none of it went to the Hostess. As I said food was good and server was great, Hostess just started our experience off in a negative light which was unfortunate

I tried East Side Mario's a few times over the last few month and it's been a great experience every single time. Food was always great and the drinks too. This time we tried the sea food linguini and the chicken sammy and they didn't disappoint. The seafood linguini is usually done with white sauce but they do it with tomato sauce and i liked it better this way. Great food at reasonable prices, try them out!

Most awful East side marios.staff is rude and unable to bring right orders, Manager is unable to run the restaurant.cooks are Definitely not experience brought me two times wrong plate after 30 min and the food tasted not as should.my family paid and left ended up eating somewhere else due to there lack of responsibility.

Excellent service and top notch food. I highly recommend this location. My family has been going here for over 15 years and it is always a great experience.

Burnt shirimp and wrong soup. The order was a disaster. Paid 45 bucks for a terrible service and food. You won't see me again.

Pls give Megan a raise! Best waitress we have ever had! Wish we could get her everytime! So polite, efficient, hardworking and great with kids! Very responsible! Thanks Megan!

Good food but bad services, not welcoming staff and not friendly. They throw to you things on the table, had to ask for utensils, cthey are only about taking plates out and leave you with all garbage in front of you. They don't give you time aven though the time we came were not busy time

We were quickly sat. Then nothing. A manager stopped by to say bread was coming. No drink order or nothing. No one came to our table except to drop of bread. We waited 20 minutes and left. When we left not one of the 4 staff standing at the hostess stand asked if there was an issue. We will never come back.

It's your standard corporate restaurant establishment experience. We went for the all you can eat pasta, soup, salad and learned that they discontinued the Primavera sauce and one of the noodle types. I presume this was a cost saving measure as this was the best sauce they had. We were fairly satisfied but don't think we'll return. As will all corporations, it's a race to the bottom. 12.99$ buys a lot of pasta sauce and noodles at the grocery and it's not like it's that much effort.

Spaghetti that come with the veal parmigiana is just flat lacking. But everything else was great! Had an amazing waitress and the food was fast. Beer was cold

You get your money worth. Food and service is good for the most part. Call before you go. Good to make reservations depending on the time and day.

The service was not bad but not great either the salad had rotten leaves in it but the bread was good I like this place a lot

If you like over cooked pasta, mountains of reheated previously frozen garlic bread and a pricey bill to boot, I highly recommend this place. If not, do yourself a favour and and get a lobatamy.

Very friendly and patient with our large group. Got all orders perfect! Our waiter was right on top of keeping our drinks full, bread, soup and salad came without asking. A great night out.

Not fine dining by any means, but great for a family! We got the goat cheese fettuccini and sausage pasta with a calamari appetizer. Also sangria to drink. The best part was the calamari no doubt - best fried calamari I’ve had! Service was quite fast and friendly too.

It was not an exceptional experience. We waited a long time for our drinks and our meals all came out at different times. That being said, the food was good and they had dairy free options for my daughter.

Came on a monday night and it was dead. There were four tables and three waitresses. Asked for bubbles in our sangria pitcher, was told it came with them. We got ZERO bubbles. We checked. She made snarky comment about us looking into our drinks because we were excited to try the bubbles. Never once was checked on after ordering food. She and the two other waitstaff dissapeared out back for a good 20 minutes. Very disappointed with this service on dead night. Our food was great so kudos to the kitchen.

First time here in a while. Bright clean decor, excellent service, tasty food.
I highly recommend if Pasta is your love.

It's alright, nothing too fancy. Nice place for family dinners every once and a while. Highly recommend their Italian soup.

Yesterday I would have given a fairly decent review of East Side Mario's, but tonight's experience has tarnished that. After spending a difficult afternoon at the funeral home, l suggested to family members that we get together for a nice family dinner. Since we needed to be back at the funeral home in 2 hours, I recommender ESM, partially because it was close, but also because my wife and I had previously had a good dinning experience there.
Unfortunately that was not the case tonight. The food was substandard, the service was slow and lacking, and to say the bills were seriously screwed up, would be an understatement. Of the six separate bills, only one was correct.
We had to get the management involved to settle things and by that point everyone was upset and running late. Sadly I must say I will probably not recommend this establishment any time soon. Seriously disappointed.

It's been quite a few years since I was at East Side but I was pleasantly surprised, it is still as good as I remembered it. It's a good place to have a meal at a reasonable price and the food was quite good. I would go back.

Honestly the food is great but yet again horrible service. I first sat down to a table that wasn't set properly. Was served my food asked for utensils and honestly sat for close to ten minutes before I got any. Took forever for the salads and they had croutons which I asked for none. We only ever did get two bowls of the all you can eat salads and again that took forever and came wrong. When we finally did get our meal my pasta never included a spoon which I had to ask for. The bathrooms we're disgusting and honestly the service is always horrible for what feels like just us especially when people right next to us get asked for refills and we just sat there hoping for service. At one point we almost just left. The last few times we've gone there the service has been lacking or down right horrible. They were training new staff and they were blamed for why our service was lacking. I just hope the next time our service is better. For our complaint we got a free desert and an appetizer. Which in all honesty is mediocre at best. I forgot to check if they took my discount off. I'm probably going to assume no. I had to give a star to post this but in all honesty I give them a negative star.

Food sat in the window for 6 1/2 minutes. Pasta was cold, dry & gummy. Received bubba hamburger with dry bun and meat only. Fries were limp, greasy.
On the plus side Caesar salad was good.
I mark this restaurant as "never again"

Wonderful service and food. The Hell's Kitchen Chicken was great, just enough spice and good portion size. Jillian our server was great, made sure we were looked after and the drinks were always full.

Went to ESM today for the first time in a very long time. We went during lunch so we decided to stick to sandwiches. Our waitress never checked in on us or offered refills. We had to keep flagging her down. Also took awhile to give and receive our order as well as our bill. I had some beef sandwich that had hardly anything in the middle and it was on a massive, dense roll so that the minimal filling squished out. I can't believe I paid 17 bucks for that. I could have gone up the hill to the food trucks, spent less and got so much better. I don't think we will be back.
