What an absolute wonderful place to be in the spring and summer the weather was beautiful cloudy and sunny temperatures water was nice to watch from the harbour walk. Written By: Liam Van Stone
Must see! It is a beautifully kept National park. We saw the Dickson waterfalls, hiked a couple of trails and walked out to the ocean during low tide. The small town had plenty of food and baked goods.
National park with a wide variety of activities and accommodations. The star of the show is access to the Fundy tides, but there is also hiking, a golf course, a swimming pool (the ocean here is not really suitable for swimming), a large playground and interpretive programs. There is camping and hotel accommodation, as well as more places to stay in the nearby town of alma. Watch out for the steep hill if towing. Hills make it hard for casual cyclists.
Incredible views and hardly any visitors during low season. Basically had the park to ourselves, go after right after Thanksgiving, weather is still warm and no tourists.
This might be the best park in atlantic canada. The campground we stayed at was chignecto. Amazing washrooms. Little to no mosquitoes. Tons of trails. Good easy driving. We did the kayak tour of the hopewell rocks it was fun but packed with people.
Camp site was ok. Difficult for kids to bike as they do not have safe bike trails for kids. We wanted to ride our bikes to pool but had to go on busy road with curves you could not see around and no bike lanes. It was dangerous. Alma was a cute town in walking distance, incredible trails to hike.
Funny National Park is an amazing place. There is plenty to see and do. There are great hiking trails, excellent camping sites with ocean views, there are also great places to eat. The seascapes are spectacular whether the tide is in or out. Plan to stay for the day to experience both.
A really nice national park. Less commerical than say Banff or Jasper and so more affordable. 120$ a night at alma, NB during the August long weekend speaks volumes of the affordability. Lots of places to see but not directly off the road. Takes small treks to get to where you want to go, which, I think makes it more challenging and fun.
Nous avons loué une tente Otentik, comme une tente Huttopia mais sans frigo, sans réchaud et pas de vaisselle incluse. Très confortable. Beaucoup de sentier de randonner
Bike and hike Trails are top notch. Pool is warm and clean. Bathroom's are ok, some better than others. Vast open spaces and playgrounds for the kids. I've been visiting here since I was a kid and now we're taking our kids.
Went for the day and didn't have time to visit everywhere but Wolfe Lake is beautiful and they have an information center and washrooms there. I specifically went with the kids to Bennett Lake. The water is so clear! It was a really nice swimming area and a sandy/pebble waterfront. Attaching a picture of Bennett Lake!
Beaches are somewhat disappointing. Not much to do on Mondays and Tuesdays. You have to pay extra for access at the saltwater pool. The trail network is nice. No food in the park but the town of Alma has a bunch of restaurants and a really basic grocery store. Watching the tides is cool. The campgrounds are nice.
Beautiful Place. Many trail's to choose from depending on the challenge you're looking for. Camping and swimming spots as well. Great place to un-plug and connect with nature.
What's not to love about Fundy? We are from Maine and sleepily rolled into the Headquarters campground at 10: 30 pm. Our first stop in our rented RV. The site was nice and level. A short walk or bike ride to a park and overlook of a huge beach at low tide. Amazing. Just one night but we loved it.
The headquarters campsite, one of several at the park, is conveniently located within a walking distance to a small town of Alma with its many restaurants and stores, including a general store and gas bar. On the other hand, its RV campsites are tightly arranged together, which works for overnight stays but daytime calls for offsite activities.
Breathtaking views of the Bay of Fundy tidal plain. Wee cared for campground. Very quiet. The town of Alma I'd located within the Park and several places sell lobster. Yum.
We camped 3 nights at Pointe Wolf campground and had a great experience hiking, star gazing and mountain biking. Great place for everyone, highly recommended
We arrived at the park at 1pm and left at 6pm. We had time to do three trails: Dickinson Falls; Herring Cove Beach, and Matthews Head Trail. It's really worth it!
Great hiking, camping and the views of the Bay of Fundy are spectacular. Lots of little spots to visit and enjoy. Also check out the little shops and restaurants in Alma.
Well paved roads, great for biking with kids. Pavillion and washrooms by the park are excellent, makes for easy dishwashing while kids play. Not a ton of privacy between campsites but well patrolled by staff. Would return to visit from ns again
Beautiful park, friendly staff, campgrounds well managed, Conoe/ kayak rentals or bring your own where you have 2 lakes to launch out. Close to restaurants if needed.
If you're going there for cross-country skiing the trails are very poor. When I went the trails were not groomed. Fat bikes, snow shoes and cross country skiing are done on the same trails by Cignecto so the trails are extremely trampled down and very difficult to stop. The last Hill that leads to the parking lot that goes downhill is probably the most dangerous. If these Trails were properly groomed and not so trampled down that would be very nice.
This one is a don't miss if you enjoy the scenery and the ocean. Just be sure to keep an eye on the tides if you're hiking on the beach. Great hiking, as well as camping, your family will enjoy it!
So much to do, so little time. There is so much to do. We came down from Alma it was a beautiful drive around the coastline. We had lunch at Tipsy Tails in Alma and the lobster was superb!
One of Canada's great national parks covers a large area centered on the Bay of Fundy coast. Includes multple camping areas and hiking locations from easy boardwalk to strenuous hikes up rivers with river crossing on rope and cable guides along steep cliff hillsides. The headquarters campground includes RV sites with 3 way hookup and 20 or 30 Amp electric (no 50 Amp) and has free wifi in the RV drive through sites. Note that for 40 ft RV's the trees along the site access roads makes some sites back in not drive through. We stayed in A17. Next door to Fundy is Alma a picturesque village with multiple sea food restaurants. I can recommend the tasty tale and their musstls and lobster burgers. About a half hour away you can visit hopewell rocks where you can walkbon the seabed aroind flower pot rock formations then see the 40 ft high tide cover over all your footprints.
Very nice facilities and spotless park. Roads in the park are great condition except near the east gate, there was 4km of extreme grades (15%) that got the brakes so over heated on the motorhome that they were smoking for a long time after stopping, even with using the transmission brake to its fullest. The local jurisdiction road before the parks north west entrance was so bad that it shock the hell out of the motorhome at 40kph and the road was posted 80kph. The feds need to give the local municipality money to fix that road because it was dangerously bad and yet the pavement in the park was in excellent condition. Governments need to think beyond their boundaries and provide the best delivery for the tax dollar. (wishful thinking that will ever happen) The online booking process was poor too and needs a lot of work to fix that web experience. You don't even get an address for the park or where the campsite is, both on the website and on the confirmation email. How do the expect people to find their way in the era of GPS without addresses?
So much to do here that we didn't even scratch the surface. They have the most amazing mountain bike and hiking trails. The sites themselves are huge and spacious and there are dish washing stations. I laughed, I cried, it is better than cats.:)
Gundy is a great place to lose yourself in the relaxing environment. Many trails, beautiful views. Bike park, kids play ground, pool, camping, sliding in the winter. Amazing place to call home
Beautiful scenery, friendly park staff, incredibly well maintained campsites, and the best views of the Bay of Fundy! Great place for kids and the avid hiker.
Canada's parks are THE BEST. This one is small, and all about the Tides. But the campground (Headquarters RV Site) was very nice. Make sure you also go up to Moncton and see the Tidal Bore
Beautiful beaches and spits. Nit the best for ocean swimming as it seems to o be discouraged. Good lake swimming at Bennett lake. Also kayaking there but the lake seems small for a longer trip, better to head to the ocean for that. Chill country bike riding with bike rentals at the top of the hill going down to Alma. The main trail (whitesomething) is well developed but shared with hikers and people biking up. The other trails are newer and don't have the banks just right and have loose gravel on them. They are still fun and worth exploring. It's about twenty to forty minutes down and forty-five to an hour up for moderate fitness level. Ride up the main trail is good as it is windy and has enough up and down that you aren't just huffing it up the whole time. The road is straight up. Worthwhile to go into Alma for lunch if you are doing a few laps. Don't worry about locks and pick a nice patio. Resist the fried fish and second beer or your trip to the top will be more than one would want. I think you can drop the bikes off in town as the rental place is based out of there.
I worked in the park for 5 summer as a student and I'm still in love with the place. Plus I get to share it with my kids now as they are growing and are able to participate in more challenging hikes. When in the nearby town, try the local treats with Sticky buns, Soprano's Pizza, Colin's Lobster and my new favorite a craft beer store AND a craft coffee shop in a church. Even the path to heaven has been rebranded!
