Hôtel Shediac

Edit ** I tell the story about this hotel experience often. All my students have heard about this legendary hotel. Years later, I’ve travelled a lot but this hotel remains my worst experience ever with a hotel ** if there was an award show for Canada’s worst hotel I would enter this place. It’s legendarily bad. **

Beware, once you enter your room they will up the price. Worst experience I’ve ever had. We got offered a rate on the phone for a federal government employee then drove to the hotel told them we are government employees they confirmed the discounted rate. Got our room key and went to sleep.

We were then charged 50$ more for the night, dealing with the manager was impossible. They wouldn’t make it right Andy correct the charges. I was told the rooms they gave us were not the government discounted rooms, I tried explaining that the room was chosen for us and customers came be expected to know prices by room number.

The error is not the problem it’s being delt with in an unreasonably argumentative and hostile way.

This hotel is well located, and many of the rooms have a balcony with a great view of the Shediac Bay and it’s not too large, so could be considered a boutique type hotel.

Very comfortable room, good bed, working temperature control, safe in room. Very good breakfast. Only stayed one night so can't evaluate location. Had dinner on lobster boat.

The attendant helped us because we were having trouble with our cell phone co nected. She was kind.

My family and I (including our little pup) stayed here for 3 nights in August and love it! Rooms were great beds very comfortable. The lobby was lovely decorated, the staff were friendly and helpful. The Starbucks inside the hotel was perfect for our early morning adventures. My son loved the work out area and pool. Over all I would definitely recommend this hotel

Nous adorons! Quel beau séjour! Le personnel est gentil et attentionné. Ça serait un bon geste de la direction de considérer sérieusement le service en français dans un bastion acadien comme Shediac. À part ça, on se sent au paradis. Le personnel a un peu de misère avec la communication dans pas mal n'importe quelle langue. Les conditions de réservation et de paiement sont une confusion gênante. Passé ça, tout est beau. Le bar La gare est vraiment bien. Le déjeuner est pas si pire que ça - ça dépend peut-être de l'heure qu'on y va. La suite grand studio est idéale pour nous: on peut cuisiner et la vue du balcon est superbe.

Great place to stay, walking distance of everything! Rooms are clean, services is excellent. They have great food at the restaurant, I wish breakfast was included but overall great place to stay

Très belle découverte! Très belle vue sur la Baie de Shediac, Très confortable et tranquille. Petit déjeuner non inclus, un Starbuck est dans l'hôtel à notre grand bonheur pour un excellent café. Restaurants à pied, d'ailleurs très bien mangé avec un take out au restaurant Moque-Turtue, succulent! Possibilité de charger notre voiture électrique avec notre câble dans le stationnement sans complications, très apprécié. Malheureusement, nous sommes accueillis en anglais, déplorable. Mais somme toute, très beau séjour en amoureux

Amazing hotel! Beautiful inside and out. The restaurant never disappoints and the atmosphere is fantastic! Pool & hot tub are A ONE! Recommend. Walking distance to the beautiful marina and downtown!

L'hôtel, comme bâtisse, est agréable comme lieu. Mais quelle ne fût pas notre surprise quand ns avons constaté que le personnel ne parlait qu'anglais ce qui est extrêmement surprenant et très agaçant à Shédiac! Et le personnel à la réception démontrait un réel agacement quand ns leur avons démontré notre surprise! Premier endroit fréquenté à Shédiac où ns allons ts les ans et où ns avons vécu ce phénomène! Partout ailleurs les gens peuvent ns accueillir en français.

When first getting to the hotel we were very impressed. Lovely staff, clean room and the restaurant that my husband and I went to Friday night was delicious. No real complaints on cleanliness. We stayed as a hockey team. I sent them my credit card authorization form to charge for room only. Our whole team was told that breakfast was included, parents and kids. We went down saturday morning and Sunday morning (Sunday it was just my son and I. He had fruit loops, I had a piece of toast). I checked out at 12: 00pm on Sunday and got my bill of $388. All is well. Fast forward to Monday night, checking the credit card to see it was charged an extra $72. When I called the hotel I was told it was breakfast charge. When I questioned it I was told multiple calls were made regarding it and I would have to call back Tuesday morning to speak with Nadine the manager. So I just called this morning and was told it is an extra charge for breakfast and nothing would be refunded. When I explained that I spoke with multiple staff that all advised me as well as many other parents that the breakfast was free, I was basically called a liar. I told her that I feel this is thievery and she told me she would not go further with the conversation and hung up on me. If I had known it wasn't a free breakfast, I wouldn't have eaten there as it really wasn't very good anyway. We would have went to Tim Hortons.
I really enjoyed my stay, however the rudeness of the manager has turned me off from ever returning there.
