Very convenient location for residents out towards the airport. However, I have had multiple terrible experiences. I don't normally leave reviews after a terrible experience (because everybody makes mistakes). But at this point I think others should be aware before choosing this vet clinic.
I have multiple Animals and here are a few of the smaller incidents I have had over the years with this vet clinic:
1. Drawed up and almost administered the wrong dose of an injection steroid. It was almost double the dose and I only caught it because they said the dosage out loud to a college and I knew better because this wasn't my dogs first injection.
2. Recommended an over the counter medication for arthritis, but told me the wrong dosage. I caught this because it seemed wildly high. I asked them to double check and they came up with a different answer. I called another vet and they gave me a quick and confident dosing answer (which was not close to either if the answers I got through loch lomond).
3. My pets were going in for a routine visit, but since I wasn't going to be able to attend I requested the quote ahead of time so that I could send the money with my husband. There were no surprise services in this appointment, yet I ended up having to pay 100$ more then what they quoted. I called afterwards, but they wouldn't do anything about it.
4. For a routine vaccine appointment my husband was attending instead of me, I decided to call the office ahead of time and ask them to put a note on the file that I wanted certain add on vaccines. I stressed I wanted it noted as my husband wouldn't know how to answer if asked during the appointment. Well, you guessed it, during the appointment they asked him instead of going with what I previously requested. My dogs came home without 2 vaccines I wanted.

Now for the latest event that lead me to writting this review:
One of my senior dogs had an acute limp start and also infection under the corner of his eye. I am unsure if the eye and limp are related. Within a week I booked him in as his limp progressed instead of getting better. He had no obvious injury that lead to this. He had been licking his paws constantly and if you touch them he whimpers and flinches. His front 2 are the worse, but his back are affected too. There are no open wounds, but around his nail beds are inflamed and some crusty. I went into the appointment fully thinking I'd be leaving with a systemic antibiotic and even suggested it. They cut his nails thinking that the length could be causing it. He did have long nails (that's on me. They are black nails and make me nervous to cut). They did a foot soak to get a closer look at the skin and see if there was any wounds in or around the pads. After the foot soak they said they only seen 2 mild red dots and didn't see pus around the nail beds. I brought up again the little bit of crustiness I've seen around the nail bed. They didn't budge and sent him home with an anti inflammatory for his feet and a cream for his eye and said they would call Monday (I went in on a friday). They advised to do salt water feet soaks over the weekend. I questioned what would happen if that didnt work and they said then they would have to look at further diagnostics (maybe imaging she said).
They called Tuesday (not the vet themself). I explained the eye is improving but the limp is still there and his feet are quite sore. There is pus coming out when I do foot soaks. I requested oral clindamycin to try. The lady I was speaking to asked the vet and then called back and said the vet would not prescribe the antibiotic and that she would need to see him again. I refused and explained i am not paying another vet visit and that he should of been sent with it in the first place. They wouldnt budge and said they could forward my files elsewhere if i want to see a different vet clinic.

I have been taking all of my dogs to Loch Lomond Vet Clinic now for 37 years. Since Mitch Downey took it over, the level of care that he makes sure that he and all of his staff provide is really exceptional. They genuinely care about the animals. For them it's not just a job, it's making a difference to the animals and to the owners. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Fantastic care and service. I've had 2 different vets since I've been there with my pup and every single one of them are so knowledgeable, kind and helpful! The prices are very reasonable! The techs are also just as amazing and so sweet to my pup! You guys are amazing!

Excellent staff, and very friendly. They explained the cost of our cat Chester's spading before and after. Their price was very reasonable. This will be our vet clinic for our cats from now on. They should be #1 in Saint John.

We had our first visit and even with the heightened precautions due to Covid the staff was amazing to deal with! They were all pleasant to speak with and very professional in taking my dogs in one at a time and giving them their boosters and explaining the process so I knew what to expect during our appointment.

My beagle had a infected leg that ballooned up with fluid and he had a high feaver. The doctors at this location were very concerned and quick to provide the correct care. Hopefully my little buddy will be back to his happy healthy self. Thanks Loch Lomond veterinary hospital.

Fantastic. They accommodated us on a same day emergency call. They took care of my cat when she was not feeling well. They did the proper diagnosis and gave us the right medication for her. Now she is back to normal. Thank you!

We have 4 cats which we got the first two in 2007. Loch Lomond Vet has been taking care of our fur babies for many years. Any time we had an emergency and they had to be seen right away it never has been a problem. The staff is super friendly, very professional, if you have to
Leave your pet their for the day or over night you feel as though your fur baby will be well taken care of. We enjoy our Vet it’s a bit pricey but so is every thing these days. We highly recommend them

Been taking care of my cat thru out the pandemic. Saved him from horrible conditions. I thought he was dying as he was 15yrs old. No! With meds he looks 2yrs old again. So pleased!

My sister came in with her dog barley able to breath. There was no empathy what so ever and the girl didnt even bother coming out to check on the animal. Waited in my car for about 15 mins and no one came. Her dog passed away on the way to try to get more help. NEVER. Go to this vet clinic.

Very good service. Gave us lots of time with our pet after he passed. Didn't rush us out. Seemed very caring and understanding.

Brought my Corgi, Stanley to see them today and they were great! Reasonably priced and very caring. Will definitely be bringing all my fur babies here now that I live in the area.

They KILLED your dog Trevor White when they tried to put it to sleep. If it had a reaction to the gas and the meds it was on that was prescribed to him by the same vet it was definitely malpractice. The vet should know if the meds would have a reaction to the gas. At the end of the day they still charged you over $600 for the work they did? That is sick! Means nothing when they dog is dead.go demand your money back. Just for them to take your money after they killed your dog shows greed unprofessionalism lack of care zero moral values or care for the pet or the family. Merry Chrismas

They killed our cat. What VET misses a skull fracture that can very clearly be seen by me, not a vet, and by our amazing vet who helped our cat have a peaceful last week of her life, Stoneybrook.

They seem to only care about how much money then can get without actually trying to help your pet.terrible place.

I find the staff to be very unfriendly. They don't seem to act like they really care about animals.just money. Not that I think vets shouldn't charge etc. I just think that for the amount they are being paid for their services, they could at least ACT like they care about animals and be a little friendlier to the people accompanying the patients because they are ultimately the ones that decide where to take their fur babies and hand over hundreds and even thousands of dollars for their medical care.

Some good and some bad here.

The upshot is that they saved my cat and got him in pretty quickly, and for that I'm grateful.

Upsides:
-> They saved my cat, and that itself makes me eternally grateful to them.
-> They booked an appointment on same-day and did not charge an emergency fee for it.
-> They had easy set up for a payment plan through a loan company that deals in loans for pet bill payments, am able to use this elsewhere as well.

Downsides:

-> I was quoted both a high price and lower price, and it does not seem that much effort was made to try to keep the price low and reasonable
-> I find a few of the staff to be a little less warm than I would have expected with a the exception of one person who was very very kind and seemed to care about the animals and was comforting.
-> They forgot to give my pet a dose of medicine and gave it last second, so that doesn't instill great confidence.
-> Trying to get information on all this stuff from them is a bit painful and clumsy, they don't exactly seem like they're working as one unit and seem disorganized, and a lot of asking back and forth between them about how something works.
-> They are a little frustrating to deal with as a pet owner who has never gone through this before as I got the sense that they may have been expecting me to know a little bit more before hand than I did, but I think that they should probably be fully prepared for newbies that come in that are seeking assistance and who do not know what to expect.
-> After I had to take my pet to an other location for emergency help after the problem seemed to complicate, the other vet seemed to scratch their head at one of the drug choices of this vet and decided to alter the prescription. Again, does not leave me terribly confident.
-> The other vet (Hampton at 510 Main Street) seemed much more compassionate towards (Even in the middle of the night for an emergency call!) the both of us and seemed to really try their best to offer the best balance of care and tried also to keep costs from becoming silly.

All in all, I don't want to swing too hard at them because I know they tried, it's just that I don't believe that this could be called, in all honesty, a 5-star experience, and I know that other clinics such as the one located in hampton and the fairvale animal hospital both have good to excellent reputations for their prices and amazing service, respectively. I think that bringing your pet here for treatment in an emergency will save your pet's life, but I think that if it isn't as urgent and one of those other two locations are available and accessible, you might have a better experience there.
