Beautiful campground, witha newly updated area in site 1, that has unisex bathroom with shower, toilet, sinks and wheel chair access. We love how quiet and dark itnis at night to enjoy the stars, as well as taking a walk down to the beach.
Absolutely terrible campground. This is a campground my family has gone to for years! My sons favourite. But nothing has been taken care of or improved over the years.
No activities for the Canada Day long weekend. Rec centre torn down, camper store not operating. Hiking trails not maintained large trees fallen and unable to pass through, broken picnic tables, to name a few disappointing things.
The outdoor skating trail was nice but not groomed regularly and $10 per adult is a bit excessive. Rutted ice and inclines so can be very challenging for novice skaters.
Super friendly, well priced and a beautiful scenery, I went cross country skiing with friend, equipment was subpar but that's expected for rental. Definitely going to invest in my own pair and come back!
Very nice campground, good spacing between sites. Too many seasonal campers here though with their decks and lights. Visitors driving through with loud muffler cars. Not good for campers looking to get away from it all.
Beautiful spot! Right on the river with beaches, marina and golf! The restaurant is temporarily closed but there is a little snack spot running this summer.
Not what it was when I was a kid.or even 10 years ago.really not much for kids to do.especially when your camping to get them away from the screens.no campers store anymore.we stayed 2 nights.but really probably won't again!
Huge park with a wide variety of sites from completely shaded to totally exposed. Bath facilities are basic flush toilets and sinks. Showers are free but it all looks like it was installed in the 70s. Huge beach for kids and boat launch at one end of park. Large playground area too. We'd come back.
A good place for families but the overall park leaves a lot to be desired (although I'm from quebec and maybe I've just been spoiled with our provincial parks!). The campsites are way too close with very little privacy, the fit pit was the worst design we've ever encountered (almost as if they are actively trying to discourage us from having a fire!), they didn't have any fire starter or kindling at the office, and their wood was more expensive than any other park I've been to, and yet it was damp. Bathrooms are few and far between too, as are water stations. The "trails" aren't really trails either. If you are a relatively experienced camper, I would skip this park. If you happen to live nearby and want to have a camping experience with your young children, this might be fine for you.
My family and I visit Mactaquac Park often whether it be summer or winter. The park offers a great sandy beach with lots of room to spread out and enjoy your own little spot. There is shade, grass, sand, and water. All you need! Life guards are on duty within the floating fence. One thing to watch are the algae bloom warnings, I wouldn't recommend bringing your dog to be on the side of caution.
Have been coming here since I was 5 years old. Love the sliding in the winter. Have been going to the beach in the summer and camping there for years now. Lots of trails to hike and the golf is excellent.
Beautiful place to go boating picnicking, go for a walk. Go to a flee market on Sundays. And go try treego. Very nice service from people who work there.
Don’t leave your food outside. Our foods were stolen at night. We kept all of our foods in a big zipped bag, left on the bench next to our tent. At around 1 am, we heard different noises. We tried but can’t see anything from inside the tent. We did not dare to go out because the breathing was so loud. Whichever it was, it might be big. In the morning, we found our bag’s zipper was broken, inside missing the raisin bread bag, cheese bread bags, 2 instant noodle bags. The torn packagings of instant noodle was left on the ground. Our garbage bag was opened too. Interestingly, fruits and nut were still there. Actually there were a lot of cute chipmunks running around to steal your fruits.
Great beach area, there's a small area to bring your dog for a quick cool down. You just can't be in the sandy area with your dog. Clean washroom facilities.
I loved this place! Good river beach, with many trees, space to Picnic, clean washrooms, and even place to change clothes. There is also showers where you can clean yourself and your stuff. Highly recommend for a nice afternoon with family and friends on a beautiful day.
Love Mactaquac! Great spot to camp, hike, picnic and such a family friendly space. Great staff! I would recommend it. Love nature. Take out what you take in. Keep it clean
Site was very clean, well taken care of and spacious. The beach was really nice, overall the park was relatively calm and not too noisy. We'll definitely be going again at some point, it's easy to see why this place has a good reputation. Thanks very much!
What a great place for summer activities. Large campsites and very clean. Swimming, hiking and golfing at a beautiful course and at great prices. Will be coming back again.
Beautiful Day for a "Sunday Drive". A little walking, some picture taking and our 4 legged youngest, was in for a swim to get cooled off.nice morning outing
We stay at Mactaquac every year. It is a very nice park to camp in. The only complaint I have is that the sites are advertised as 15/30 Amp electrical service but this is not the case. There are very few sites that are actually 30amp.most all have 20amp breakers. The plugs are set up for your 30amp trailer cord but unless you looked closely you wouldn't know you do not have access to a full 30 amps. When it is +39 with the humidex it is nice to be able to run your AC and other amenities in your trailer. This year my parents kept blowing the breaker (on the park power supply) when trying to run the AC in their motorhome. The park did agree to upgrade the breaker to 30amps and did so on Monday morning which was greatly appreciated. There is no maintenance workers available over the weekend so at least the breaker didn't give us issues until Sunday afternoon.
Last year they upgraded the water connections in the park as well. Now there is roughly a water connection for every 2 campsites. This is a great addition. Hopefully the next upgrade is to the park's electrical system. Until that time, the booking website should update the site descriptions to accurately reflect which sites are 30amp and which (most of them) are only 20amp. This would allow us to choose a more appropriate site for our equipment.
Beautiful park especially for a sunny day. Beware of bugs in the spring by coming either loads of bug spray. Overall, this is your place to go for a hike, picnic or just laying about at the beach nearby.
Spent 3 days camping here with our tent trailer in site 265 (unserviced site) Had a fantastic time, great site with lots of room a good level spot to set up our tent trailer. Bathroom was beside the site but did not smell and we wanted the proximity since we travel with 3 small kids. Bathrooms were also clean and had showers and a washing sink outside for dishes. Campground also had various kitchen buildings with tables, sink and wood cook stoves. Large sandy beach locate in park a short drive from the campground, beach close to the campground not as nice.
Despite having reserved 4 carts, we were asked to take only 2 "to help them out". (there were carts available) After agreeing to do so, they charged our walkers full price (no special). The pro sat off to the side and said nothing during this difficult conversation, until all but one of us left the pro shop. He then tried to smooth things over. Too late.we won't be back.
Beautiful views and great food at restaurant/bar complete with open log fireplace. Plenty of winter activities (sledding/tubing, cross-country skiing, natural outdoor skating rink and mountain biking with super wide tires). When we visited some activities were free. Would highly recommend. Would definitely return.
Quick one night stop on our way back to Nova Scotia. We stay d at site 399 in campground 3. Right along the Saint John river. Nice quiet campground. Will certainly go there again.
Nice trails and beach. Had a horrible experience camping there this past weekend with some extremely rude campers across from me who showed up late each night to party and kept yelling and swearing until the early morning. Campground didnt seem to enforce noise curfew whatsoever. Not a place to camp if you want a peaceful sleep.
Beautiful lots for camping. It's very clean with extra sites to cook your meals. Just wish there was a pool as the beach was closed mist of the summer due to green algae.
