Follow the light! Come see the oldest lighthouse in New Brunswick. On a sunny day there are lovely views of the salt marshes, peat bogs, and windy beaches from the top of this historic wooden lighthouse. The entry fee is cash only. There is a small gift shop. Parking is plentiful.
Wonderful to see this part of history. The wind at the top reminded me of mt Washington. Such strength, the view today - excellent. All the way across the gulf of st Lawrence
Got jam in a bang of show in front of the lighthouse. BUT the butyfull land of the island help us alot and we still got stuck there 2hrs before some fisherman dude came and got us out of there. Also we broke his cable but its ok we are out. Also a very good place to drift but watch out for the snow. Thats worth a 5 stars.
Beautiful views, and a really cool experience to climb to the top of the lighthouse.
It’s $6 to enter the lighthouse ($4 for children I believe). It’s a bit of a climb (around 5 stories) to get to the top, and the last section to climb up is a ladder. Once you’re up at the light, there’s a small door to crawl through to get to the outside edge. The views from out there are gorgeous!
Nice place to visit while touring the area. We were bombarded by a swarm of flying insects when we tried to go onto the beach though then the mosquitoes were very crazy. I would swipe 5 off and look at my leg and have 10 more within 15 seconds. Come prepared!
I'm from New Brunswick but have never visited this place. We came on the second to last before everything closed for the season and had a fantastic time. Would be fun to camp out here. Enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Fascinating part of Canada, the Acadian "joie de vivre" shines here! Well worth the drive! The entire peninsula holds treasures waiting to be discovered.
The place holds the most northern and eastern spot I have driven. The view along the islands to get there were just as spectacular. The lighthouse is nice to visit, but I was mostly interested in viewing the coast and white caps on the windy day. Nearby was a beachy area, but the water is really cold. There were a lot of smoothed rocks along the beach, but surprisingly we did not see a single shell. I definately felt like I was in a different climate than the Maine coast we usually visit.
