Moonshin’Hers is superb. My wife and I have been lucky to have tried some of the best restaurants in major cities in North America and Europe. We discovered this place while on a fall road trip through the Maritimes. The night before we had tried one of the top-rated restaurants in Quebec that is famous nationwide. Moonshin’Hers outdid that Quebec belle by a country mile. Here in northern NB we found cooking that ranks above almost all other places we have tried in Canada. It is not an extensive menu, but it is a focus on great flavour and freshness. Plus, it’s located by a craft brewery and the brews are excellent. The service is blue chip (thanks Jaymie!) and the atmosphere and decor reflects the fascinating history of this beautiful Saint John River region. (Wait until you see the pictures of “the Al Capone of Madawaska. ”) Here is a toast to the Moonshin’Hers smuggler ancestors who reflect the entrepreneurialism and joie de vivre of this region!
My husband and I were looking for a lunch spot in Edmunston NB. We stopped in at Moonshin’hers. We sat outside on their comfortable patio. Our server Mandy was so friendly and knowledgeable about what was gluten free and dairy free on the menu. Lunch was delicious. My husband enjoyed his chicken wings and I my bunless hamburger. Thanks again Mandy sure was great to meet you! Kim and Rick
We had a beautiful meal. They make so much in house and it really shows. Wings, burger, and chicken waffle was exceptional. Service was excellent. Exceeded our expectations!
My experience here was amazing. The drinks were lovely and the food was terrific. The flavors and presentation was beyond most Toronto restaurants. The price points were fantastic for the quality received. Shoutout to our server Abigail for making it a great night. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an amazing experience.
It’s our second time at the Moinshin’hers and if we were allowed to half stars I would rate my experiences a 4 1/2. They have delicious locally brewed beer. The waitress we had provided a great service and, on both occasions, we were pleased of our experience. The wings are phenomenal. The skin is crispy and the dipping sauce is to die for. The beef tartare is tasty and well presented. I understand That they crumble their crostini in the tartare itself but I would appreciate it more with a piece of fresh bread, grilled over the flames. The provencal burger with the aioli is delicious. However, it needs a bit of fresh contrast with something like lettuce and pickles or a fresh slice of tomato. The boiling hot splashing cherry tomatoes with the acidic tomatoe juice is not a texture nor a taste that complements well the burger. The poutine is good. First time I tried it was perfect. However the gravy was more liquidy tonight. Too watery. Desserts are pieces of art. If you like chocolate, take their “campfire” one. It’s a deconstructed s’more’s made with a chocolate fudge and burnt marshmallows. It’s to die for. My only true negative comment towards a plate was the cheesecake. The presentation is super. But it’s literally soften cream cheese spreaded on the plate, topped with fruits and pieces of “sponge honeycomb” (Like in those crunchie chocolate bars). The cream cheese was salty and lacked something like a white chocolate ganache that would make the taste so much better for a dessert. If they’d modify that, the dessert would be perfect. We didn’t try their whole menu yet but probably half of it. Great spot. Some minor changes to be brought to elevate some of their plates even more but overall it’s a must go when you drive by Edmundston. For people of any age. Thank you.
If you are a foodie like me this place is a stellar surprise for Edmunston. Had no clue food give you this good in Edmonston and it was amazing. I had the salmon graveyard and it was good, had a duck confit and it was really really good I wish I could go back and try the steak. They really got this place right. If you're in Edmunston or driving past from Toronto, i highly recommend grabbing a bit here Ben
We had the beef tartare to start, mahi-mahi, chicken and waffles, burger and poutine. Great service the burger was the best one I’ve ever had and I order burgers often. The poutine gravy was delicious.
Beer suggestions were great and we went to the next door brewery to have some samples and buy a few to take home.
I went here to eat some foods, I loved your pub because the music played here is very good, your employees working here are very respectful and smiling, your foods here are very good to eat, your beers are very good to drink and this place has enough tables to sit. Also, it's a clean restaurant. I give it 5 stars for my visit here.
Stopped here on our road trip, and so glad we did! The food was delicious. We came late so unfortunately we had a small menu to choose from. It took a while to come to the table, but it was really tasty. We got the chicken and waffle and chicken wings. Portions are never huge at a gastro, so don’t come if you’re starving. The vibe and music were good. Overall, worth a try. We’d definitely come back
Excellent scotch selection. If you’re looking for a good meal, go somewhere else - over complicated dishes without the flavour or freshness; tasted frozen, or frozen from fresh. Scallop ceviche was a sloppy mess with random lentils floating in it. Food was room temperature. Friendly, inattentive service. Terrible value. Over priced “local” fare.
The menu went upscale. They doubled the prices and reduced the mains to an assortment of 4. We arrived at 4: 30 only to be told that mains would not be available till 5 p.m. Appetizers only. I opted for a local brew and 6 dessicated chicken wings collected from some underfed fowl. The spaghetti offered on the mains was $30! I've yet to pay $30 for a spaghetti meal. That's usually what charity drives offer as a meal for far less! The beer came from the berry next door, Petit Sault. I recommend the 'Kedgewick'.
Nice beer selection, good service with friendly waiters. If you are a whiskey lover this they also have a great selection! Food is on the expensive side but we did not try it. The food that was served around us smelled delicious though.
Toujours excellent!
