Great park in New-Brunswick, Canada, with tough, adrenaline packed trails and stunning views

L’équipe est incroyablement gentille et prête à vous aider en toutes circonstances. Le parc est magnifique, un endroit à ne pas louper au Nouveau Brunswick!

Will update review later as park is NOT OPEN TILL END OF MAY. So we'll have to drive 3 hrs & try again another time.

To me Mount Carleton is heaven on earth. We look forward to going every year. The staff is amazing! And the scenery and wildlife spectacular. Some of the best hiking in New Brunswick!

Amazing adventure. Wonderful staff, great amenities. Camped Headwaters had running water piped from the brook, head the Moose calling in the night. Great view in the morning on Mt. Carlton. Gorgeous fall foliage.

What a beautiful place to get out in nature with the family. Whether it's moderate to advanced trails or if it just a day at the beach, Mount Carleton has what you're looking for.

Got in late and left early all three stays I had, stayed at Williams campground for two nights and Franklin for one. All three sites were spectacular and absolutely beautiful with access to the water.
My only regret is not getting out to hike the trails, can't wait to be back!

Should not be open when hicking trails are not done or ready for the season. Very disappointed since I travelled 2h to go there. Usually it’s a beautiful place but this time I was shocked to see the trails not done.especially that I called to ask if hiking trails were open but I got there and only some were and they were not even cleaned or ready

Absolute waste of time and money to go up there. Secluded area with logged lands as far as the eye can see. Wouldn't allow us on the trails, no warnings online or in the several reminder emails we received. Nowhere flat on the campsite to pitch a tent. Rude employees taking personal offence at our displeasure and refusing to refund. Had a better time on dirt roads which have nicer forests, streams and sights to see. If you have never gone: don't bother. Worst place I have ever seen in the province.

Love coming here! Amazing views from whichever mountain to choose. Went camping once, was hassle free and the staff is friendly.

Beautiful views, biggest issue was the amount of garbage threw the trails and in buildings in the park, as well as the graffiti in the buildings. Great place and great back country camping, the back country camping outhouse had mold in it and wasn't very inviting. Had a fun trip overall.

What a hike! But the views are all worth it.
Bring cash to get in.
Wear good shoes/boots.
Bring snacks and water.
Enjoy!

Parc fermé depuis lundi - aucun calendrier de la saison sur leur site web, très déçu d'avoir conduit 120 kilomètres pour rien.

Absolutely spectacular views from the Carleton peak, and the fall colours are just starting.
Mt. Carleton hike is relatively easy considering you climb the highest peak in the maritimes.

Must do hike.challenge Mt Sagamook first then do all Summits ending at Mt Carlton parking lot. Bring 2 cars. Leave one at Sagamook. Awesome full day hike, dog friendly trail, bring snacks & 1 liter water in fall season was enough water.

Wow. We were there last day Park was open, Oct 13. Fall foliage spectacular beyond belief. We climbed Sagamook 777 meters, the most difficult trail in the park. Worth it! Stayed at Fir Cabin on Nictau Lake. Spacious, sleeps 6, bathroom, large cabin. My only complaint is, the woodstove was unusable, as it smoked up the place. Plus wood was wet. Overall, cabins here amazing. Love the huge community cabin. Highly recommend Mt. Carleton Park

What a weekend in one of the most beautiful spot in the province. This year we hiked Mount Sagamook with a peak at 777 metres. We hiked to the peak via Bald Mountain Brook Trail which was an overall 14.8 km return adventure in difficult terrain. This combined with a 14 km bike ride to and from the campground made it an 8 hour of non-stop strenuous exercise day. The view of Heart Island from the top is spectacular.

This park is one of my favorite, and probably one of the most underrated in the province.

Hiking wise, I've only done a few trails. The most popular one being Mount Carleton, which I've climbed 3 or 4 times. The view on top of the highest point in the maritimes is quite breathtaking. The hike itself isnt too hard. Like any looped trail, there is an easy and harder way. I would suggest the hard to start, even though there is a bit of light climbing at the end. Going down the easy way, i would suggest good shoes, and to avoid if you have weak ankles. It's rocky the entire time, you wish for a small stretch of plain grass a few times.

For breathtaking pictures, Mount Sagamook is the way to go. The lookout near the top offers the best views of Nictau lake, and amazing options for pictures. The hike itself is quite more strenuous, but so worth it. Not suggested for inexperienced hikers.

Mount Bailey offers nice hike, with nice views. Easily done in 3hrs, with lots of picture breaks and rest breaks.

Williams Falls and Pine Point are probably the shortest and easiest trails, but are so worth it. The fall offers lots of picture opportunities, and is quite lovely. Pine Point has easily become my favorite trail. A trail in the middle of a red pine forest, following the shore of Lake Bathurst. It's quite simply magical and peaceful. The view all along is amazing.

I can't wait to go back for my Xth time to discover more.

Really cool visit, quite a few quite places to pull over on the way up. The park itself is wonderful place to take some pictures!

Fantastic provincial park far off the beaten path. No electricity or running water or cell service. It's an amazing place to spend a few nights and offers some beautiful hiking trails. Very cheap tenting fees.

If you love nature & quiet this is the park to be. The views of the mountains is amazing. If your lucky you will see wildlife. We saw a moose, a rabbit and plenty of grouse. There is no hydro on camp sites and no cell service. There is plenty of hiking trails to choose from. Its beautiful and peaceful.

Such a beautiful hike up the mountain! Too bad the weather didn't cooperate more for me so I could see the gorgeous view at the top

Staff are friendly and accommodating. The camp ground is clean and in order. A perfect place for those who wants to escape the city life, you will really be disconnected from the world because there is no network reception. My family and friends really had a memorable stay!
28 July 2019 11:18
Really lovely place for camping and hiking. We hiked from Sagamook to Head to Carleton for a total of about 15.5 km. It was a long and tiring day but the views from Carleton were really nice. I'd absolutely go back again.
16 July 2019 14:31
Fantastic campground without any serviced sites so you can really enjoy the silence, mountainviews and lakes.
The park is very beautiful, lot's of trails to walk. Don't hesitate to go, you will be totally recharged at the end!

I spent about a week here early summer two years ago. It’s remote but worth the drive into the park. The hiking is varied and there are a couple of backcountry spots to camp on Mount Carleton. Views at the summit are panoramic. The forest in the park is dense and some trails are narrow and challenging. Weather’s unpredictable and there are bears. The park is expansive and there is a hike combining different trails that cover the highest summits.
