The Reversing Falls in Saint John, NB. Where the St. John River meets the Bay of Fundy. When the tide comes in it overpowers the River and flows backwards twice a day. A definite spot if you are in Saint John.

Likely the 2nd best viewing spot of the Reversing Falls. Might be a better area to view the rapid speed of the falls moving either way. There's many parking spots, and the walk isn't far to the viewing platform. Be sure to check the tidal times, as they can very daily.

I don’t think I was there at the correct time as it didn’t look like anything special. I was there around 4pm. I’ll have to try again tomorrow at a different time. I’m
Thinking low tide would be the best but I’m not quite sure. There was a decent place for parking and a nice boardwalk around the area. There are stairs down to get closer to the water for better viewing.

The reversing rabbits are caused by a 28 ft difference in tide levels. When the tide is going out you've got Rapids going towards the ocean and just the opposite When the tide is coming in. This was the highlight of my visit to St John

Interesting natural phenomenon, the tide was high when we visited. There was a seal swimming in the water at that point. Our guide said that at low tide, when the river is flowing toward the ocean, it becomes a class 5 rapids. It would be interesting to see both views.

Nice place to view the tidal movements, backed by the paper factory, fishing boats, cormorants and a lonely single seal.

Neat to see the water going up stream and then 5 hours later seeing go down stream. 28 foot change in tides between low and high tide.

It is exciting to see and compare the flow of water into the bay and back to river at high tide. The skywalk view from the top is also good. One can step down and get close to the river mouth and see the flow for free. About 100 + stairs are a bit chalenge but worth the view.

Way more fun to watch at low tide than high tide, bit still important to see it on both ends. Watch the falls from Fallsview Park at low tide.

The tourist spot in this city to visit if you have the time. But I suggest visiting when the water if flowing outward instead of inward. Not many people were at this spot when I visited that day

Amazing natural phenomenon! Fun watching the cormorants play in the waves and whirlpool. Great viewing deck and interpretive displays. Took several hours to watch for the full effect but well worth the waiting. Cheers!

Cool to see but not that picturesque. Come at high and low tide and see the reversed flow, the kids should enjoy it.

This is an iconic canadian tourist attraction, with a pulp mill on the opposite bank. It pretty unique when it's at full kick, and in reverse, but not so much at the point of reversal. What would be cool would be a restaurant at the park on the East Side bank where you could pass a few hours watching it cycle.

We visited this area during the incoming tide. The rapids reminded me of the rapids on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. We were not able to stay to see the tide go back out but I think the rapids would reverse. That would be an impressive thing to see. The plant in the background really makes it impossible to take good pictures in this location.

There are three times to view the falls; low tide (best), high tide (good), and mid tide (can be missed). Get a tide chart to plan accordingly.
Low tide should be viewed by the pulp plant, high tide should be viewed around the bridge.

It is a very cool phenomenon, however the natural beauty is spoiled by the papermill on the other side of the river. I spent my time trying to take photos from angles that did not include the papermill which was difficult.

Superbe endroit. Facinant de voir la marré monter rapidement. De voir les oiseaux pecher, et de voir des phoques en liberté c'est un bon spectacle.

Impressive rapids, which vary in intensity and - over time - reverse. (Of course that's the attraction.) Zipline nearby looks like fun!

Beautiful rushing water. Nice park setting. But only 4 stars because of the giant paper mill which kind of ruins the scenery

It was really great to see the falls going both ways. I would say it’s worthwhile to go back and see them change direction. It’s a weird road to get to the place and we thought we were going the wrong way for a second. Unfortunate the paper mill is right across too.
There is a decent washroom there too fyi.

While cool, the view is either blocked by a bridge or features a large paper mill in the background.
In addition, there is very little to do in Saint John besides this.

If you can come at low and high tide you will see the difference better or at about 2.5 to 3 hours after low tide

Interesting place, if you are in the area, check it out. Sadly the papermill (I am told it was) in the background with the smokestacks kind of ruins the view but an interesting experience.

It is an amazing experience watching water flow reverse the direction. Make sure that you go at least an hour before the change of direction of water flow and stay at least ten minutes after the water flow diection change. That way you will appreciate the phenomenon.

Worth the effort to check the tide schedule.
When the tide reverses, the falls change direction, and it's not just a little bit of water. That's an impressive flow of water.
Go when the tide is either high or low, then go away for a bit and come back. It looks like a completely different place.
