Always loved Sobeys but the last few times i've been there i end up with a non english speaking cashier who is unfriendly and twice i had to repack my groceries. Unfriendly and absolutely no eye contact.

This is a great location. Clean and spacious. They have a great selection of natural foods, organics and non gmo's. Some products that I can't find at other stores. Friendly and helpful staff.

I like shopping at sobeys, this store in particular has a great selection, more items than most stores and some unique offerings. The only thing I don't like about it is the layout at the front of the store.

Not a place I would buy meat, NB dept of health inspection indicates improper sanitation procedures during a routine inspection which is public knowledge online! Again, Sobeys please educate your staff! Absolutely disgusting!

I am not normally one to post reviews but after today's experience at Sobeys Eastpoint I feel compelled to provide a review. To start, The Scanning Code Of Practice is a voluntary program in which businesses can participate in. Not all businesses choose to abide by the voluntary code of practice, but many do.

Sobeys is one such business that chooses to participate in the program. The Programs intent to provide some level of assurance to consumers that there store pricing is accurate. Outlined in the policy is a remedy in the event the register price scans in higher than the shelf price. The remedy found within the code is as follows: " (a) if the displayed price of the product is $10 or less, the retailer will give the product to the customer free of charge; or
(b) if the displayed price of the product is higher than $10, the retailer will give the customer a discount of $10 off the lowest advertised price. "

Today, 2022-11-10 I attended Sobeys Eastpoint as I have many times in the past. I rang through my order and paid. After reviewing my receipt I found a item that was listed on the shelf as $9.99 rang in as $10.99. I went back into the store immediately and made the clerk aware of this error, expecting a full refund for the item as per the Code. The clerk prepared to give me $1.15 back. I reminded the clerk of the scanning code of practice. I was told by the clerk that they are not participating due to an IT issue.

I told the clerk that nowhere in the store was that posted they were no longer participating and asked to speak to the manager. I ended up speaking to an individual who identified them self as a manager. I explained to the manager my issue/concern. I was met with a somewhat sarcastic response. I made the point that nowhere is it posted that they are no longer participating in the program. I made the point that nowhere is it posted that price errors and pricing accuracy may be affected by an IT issue, and that it is not the consumers fault that their systems are not functioning as designed. I also advised that it is not the intent to Participate in the Program on good days and pull participation on other days, as that undermines the entire purpose of the program.

The following points were made to me by the manager.
-Participation in the Code of Scanning practice is Voluntary. (Which I agree with but to suspend it on one day defeats the spirit of the program in my opinion and undermines it)
-They are not participating until the IT issues are resolved.
-They cannot print signage due to a IT hack. (Many handwritten signs found throughout the store during my visit)
-It is up to customers to check their receipt and not up to the retailer.

My take aways is that Sobeys does not care about pricing accuracy as they believe they can temporarily suspend their participation in the program when they see fit. I was flat out told by the manager that responsibility falls on the consumer to confirm price accuracy (which I untimately agree with, but it was implied that it was not a store level responsiblity). I stated that not all customers would check their receipts to find pricing errors and I was met with a shrug and oh well attitude.

In the end a refund was provided for the item but only after a long drawn-out argument was had that was simply based on principal. It is clear to me that Sobeys is not out for their customers after this interaction.

It should be noted I do not intend to identify the employees involved as it is likely not entirely their fault, they are simply following orders from above. (Although I would suggest they lose the sarcastic attitudes as they too are consumers)

I respect the fact $10.00 is not a lot of money but in this age of inflation and grocers reporting record profits, this is a story I wished to make public based on nothing more than principal.

This is a new building with spacious isles and a large selection of products, including some you don't find in other stores. While there are many positive things to say about this store and the staff, I don't like the location of the pharmacy and how the shopping pattern almost forces you into/through the area. If that doesn't bother you, then this might be the perfect store for you.

Wide variety of products and clean store. Some pricing is noticeably higher on products purchased at another grocery store.

The layout just seems odd to me. Suffice it to say, its a Sobeys and is the newest one in the greater SJ area so clean, good produce and good meat/poultry selection.

I needed food and they sell food! Solid option when getting hungry or planning to not be hungry through the upcoming days.

Always great service and super clean and if your sensitive to lights or sounds they do shopping hours from 6pm to 8pm Sundays for people with needs, seniors, or anyone who'd rather go when it's a little slower going!

Although it's on the other side of the city, this has become my go-to grocery store. From the sushi bar to the huge deli offerings, once you learn the layout, everything is here.

Served my pink chicken then argued when I tried to return it. Made my PREGNANT girlfriend throw up. You take you chances I guess in saint john.

Good store, a little dissatisfied the last month they mixed gluten free with organic and vegetarian in frozen section. But there baking and fresh fruit/vegetables are always good.

Gigantic store with a wide selection. Nice clean modern look and a different layout. Nice and colorful. Decent amount of parking. Too bad it's not open 24 hours but not many places are in Saint John. Nice view from the top. Handy to other stores as well, including Costco.

Really not happy with this store. I find the layout is not user friendly. They also dont carry some items the other stores carry. Nice deli but too far out of the way to just stop for lunch anyways.

This store has sooo many items its sooo great. They have 10 different types of everything they sell if that makes sense lol its a very good store if you want choice thats for sure.live live live this grocery store

I have to say that the staff at this Sobeys are amazing. Very helpful. I am never disappointed when I shop here. Only downfall is at first I found the layout very confusing

Not a fan of being approached several times to sign up for a BMO credit card while trying to shop. Love shopping there did not appreciate the interruption for a credit card.

Great experience today. Had everything I wanted. Wasnt too busy. Very clean. No problems getting a small cart. Didnt have to wait in line. Happy visit!

The parking lot of this new development is atrocious, they should have considered lanes or possibly better barriers. The better half hates the layout of the store, I'm indifferent, it's a grocery store in a convenient location up the hill from Costco /shrug. Fix that parking though!

Store layout is non traditional which is still taking some time to get used to. Prices are reasonable. Store is clean and modern. Free wifi near the deli and meals that are ready to eat.
