A neat defense against early privateers. There are panels with the history on them with pictures to help keep people engaged. Awesome to see this monument in the well kept state it is in. Great photos and just an overall pleasant piece of history to visit.
The Blockhouse is a historic site, and a great place to visit. During operating hours there ate pleasant staff to answer questions about the building and it's significance. It's close to a spit where you can let your dog off-leash (best at low tide). There is also a parkette immediately across the street with nice landscaping, benches, and public washrooms.
This is a great place. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Everything is very tasty and fresh. Portions were big and satisfying. One negative was the flies were driving me nuts but that's not their fault. A must if your in the area.
Peice of history in an especially beautiful area at tide out. Wonderful quiet area for picnics including Centennial park right behind. So peaceful - could sit here all day
I'm not a history buff, I'm not that interested in history, but it's a cool place to see and stop by. Its a beautiful spot to stop by and watch the ocean.
Can't complain, pretty nice view looking across the bay towards Maine.
I dropped by in March, so not much was going on, but was able to walk around the block house, read some of the interp panels and got close to the three cannons pointed across the water.
This is a few hundred meters from the Algonquin resort, so make this stop of you are a morning walker.proceed on water st and stop by the few spots for a coffee as you do the walking loop back to the resort to get your 4kms in:)
Interesting historic place that is close to downtown St Andrew's. Beautiful colors in the early spring make this a great spot for a photo with canons and historic fortifications. Fairly small site. If you time the tide right you can walk out among the red rocks and see some sea critters.
