Ate at the restaurant. I ordered calamari which was rubber band like complete with hair.
Seafood risotto was suitable with lots of seafood. However the lobster which I’m sure is canned seemed to overpower the dish.
Coffee and chocolate cheese cake were great.
Wait staff very good.
Everything in today’s restaurant market is priced like five star restaurants which this is not. Won’t be back.

We had our Annual Holiday Party in the St. James Gate event room. Could not ask for a Classier place. Everything was top notch from the quality and presentation of the food to the excellent bar service. Gabriel and the staff were beyond amazing. Thank you for everything. We had a great time and will definitely be back. A+

My first visit, arrived mid afternoon on a holiday and was the only one there. I like the venue, small and cozy, and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had read some good reviews on their steaks, so I thought I would try one. I love a great steak, but admittedly, I don't know much about the different cuts. I ordered the striploin (new menu item) and fries, medium rare. It was cooked exactly the way I was expecting, but I found it a bit tough and sinewy (is that a word?) Maybe that's because of the cut I ordered? Not sure. Fries were excellent.

I tried the SJG ale, apparently brewed by The Pumphouse. I found it a bit bland. Chose Guiness for my second round. Can't go wrong with that.

Overall, I had a good meal, but it wasn't great. Service was excellent, though. I will give them a second chance soon.

Been here a quite a few times for the live music on Wednesday or Sunday nights. Great atmosphere, stellar music, tasty drinks and even the food is super good too.

Stopped by for lunch and loved the atmosphere of this boutique hotel restaurant. The food was excellent. The ambience gave off 1940s vibes. Very nice experience.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary, ended up leaving after waiting for 15 minutes for water.
The worst part was the fact that other guests who arrived after us were being served, making us feel very ignored. Horrible experience.

It's the first time we've ever experienced self check in and it's pretty cool!

Very rude waiter. They kicked us out into the street without even letting us take a seat. When we asked what the reason was, he just told us to leave. The restaurant was open.

Its a nice cozy place. We had gin cocktails (very good) and dinner. Beer and wine selection was disappointing. Service was excellent. For appetizer we had arancini, tuna Tatar not greate, for dinner we had the Ruben (good), tacos (very good) and the poke bowl? (very good too). There was also live music after 10pm on Saturday. Overall a good place for dinner or a date.

I recommend this place when you want to meet friends for lunch after hours, a great place to go

A really authentic atmosphere feeling like you're in a cave. Food was delicious and price quite reasonable. Would recommand to anyone searching for a place which feels welcoming and cozy.

Really great atmosphere and the spinach and artichoke dip starter was amazing however, the chicken carbonara tasted really weird, almost like it was solely turned over in oil and the sauce was forgotten and it didn't taste like any of the carbonara dishes I've had in the past. No parm was offered which surprisedme a bit. Really disappointing since it wasnt a cheap meal and the waitress told us it was the most popular dish. The seafood chowder was tastey yet I did not note any lobster, there was one scallop and a few shrimp. I get that with every spoon full you get what you get from the pot however, it is quite disappointing, considering I waited a long time to try this place out. Still, a very nice setting, super awesome staff. We didn't complain because that is just not worth the time.

I don’t recommend if u want to actually sleep… Not happy with the service! First night away from baby just wanted to relax and have a good night sleep.nope the event room was hosting a party. No one at front desk, no answer after 9pm by call. They could at least warn their guest that there is an event or supply ear plugs! Never Again!

Nice rooms and comfy bed but it’s very noisy even on the 3rd floor. Loud music playing until 2 am. No staff on site to help. Very disappointed. Won’t be coming back.

My wife and I just had a wonderful meal. The price per portion ratio is excellent. Actually it's better than expected. We stared with the marinated olives followed by truffle fires and our mains were chicken souvlaki and pork tenderloin. This was an amazing evening. Thank you!

J’ai fait une réservation (pour la salle d’événement) un mois avant mon événement, j’ai même payé la totalité de la somme demandée. Pour être certain que j’aurai la salle, le jour de mon événement.

4 jours avant mon événement alors que tout était déjà prêt pour l’événement, le manager qui m’appelle et me dit que c’est plus possible pour moi de faire l’événement là-bas. Et cela sans explication…

Grosse déception, franchement si vous chercher un endroit sérieux je vous déconseille cette entreprise.

At first glance dark walls and fake window made me think of funeral homes. I couldn't be wrong more. This place is full of live, great service and delicious beer!

Went Friday night after a show at Capitol theatre at 9: 30 PM. Sat outside for over a half hour, no waiter or waitress for drinks or food. Went indoors at a desk and no employees to be seen, sat outside for a little longer and gave up and left.

Discrimination and Cover Gouging.

Went here during a night out with my brother. After paying the outrageous cover of $20 "due to COVID-19", we sat at the bar and were treated fairly by the bartender. We continuously purchased beers and tipped generously. We were not loud or obnoxious.

One thing of note, however, was the significant lack of young women inside the bar, but I thought nothing of it until a bouncer came to my brother and I and told us we had to leave. He did not give any reason and when asked, he became aggressive and made an effort to intimidate us.

They didn't let us finish our drinks despite how we paid $20 to even be allowed inside to buy them. Once we were outside, the same meathead that kicked us out finally told us they were "too full". However, he immediately welcomed a group of 5+ young women to enter the bar. This place is not a welcoming place for anyone looking to experience the nightlife of Moncton.

What a fantastic last night on vacation! The drinks were excellent. Oysters fresh! Haddock and risotto was delicious. Others at my table had seafood risotto, seafood chowder, fish tacos and spinach dip. Everything we had was amazing. We were so happy we found this spot.

Bel endroit très bien situé. Bon rapport qualité-prix. Aucun employé d'accueil sur place en cas de besoin comme le distributeur à glace défectueux. Insonorisation problématique: on fournit les bouche-oreilles. Restaurant excellent tant pour le service que le menu.

Good place, but sometimes the food comes super salted. Last time my salmon was extremely salty and my partner's unsalted.
This mistake shouldnt happen when the price is so high.

The food was nothing to write home about but the service from our server was exemplary! I didn't catch her name, but she was attentive and fixed any problems that arose.

Our third visit after moving here from Toronto! Food, service, staff and selection were all amazing. So glad we found this gem!

Beautiful interior and architecture which make for a chic and quaint atmosphere. Food, service, and overall experience were all 10/10.

Excellent service de Ben et sont équipe. Les chambres sont propres, le personnel est accueillant et courtois. Je vous conseille de prendre une chambre au 3e étage cependant. Le bruit du restaurant est tolérable au 3e mais doit-être plus intrusif au 2e.

The restaurant was as good as ever. This time we decided to stay at the “boutique” hotel upstairs. That was a mistake…. The room was ok, but there was no water in the shower. We were told it was because if water use in the restaurant but it was still an issue at 9 am when the restaurant is closed. When we arrived the ac wouldn’t work and the phone was dead.

Management really needs to get their act together, it’s just not acceptable to charge 179 bucks for a room that lacks a basic amenity like a working shower. I’ll come back to the restaurant but I think I will avoid the hotel until they get their plumbing fixed.

Loved the interior (like a dimly lit cave with low curved ceilings). Great service too. A good vibe on a Friday evening.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate and the decor is wonderful. The menu is somewhat limited but the food is absolutely to die for. I will definitely be returning and doing so often. Highly recommend.

My partner and I had a relaxing stay there this summer. We booked the room with the soaker tub with an expresso body scrub. We received a welcoming note from the Hotel Manager (Bene) which was a nice touch. We hope to book this room again! It was great)

Worst burger ever, and it was their signature burger. Way overcooked to the point where the meat crumbled. Bun was blackened on top.

Such a unique and cool atmosphere. Very medieval feel. Gorgeous building, and intimate dining experience. Had the best pasta of my life (lobster ravioli). Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed in Moncton for a few days and we came back to St. James Gate several times, amazing food and service. Five stars, we loved it…:)

I recently needed a one night stay for an appointment early in the morning. The experience from the time I booked to follow up to confirm time of arrival was smooth and effortless by the staff. I enjoyed the location as well as the breakfast choice. The evening meal at the pub downstairs was delicious and a great wine selection.
There was live music the night I visited wish was a bonus and I was well rested and ready for the next day. Thank you to all that made my stay enjoyable. Until I see you folks again, Thank you /Merci TCarr

This restaurant was a nice place to eat if you are looking for a place that has great seafood that isn’t deep fried. The seafood risotto was absolutely amazing I would highly recommend. The music in the restaurant is a little loud. It is also live or at least when I went it was. The servers were also very nice. However, I did ask for no mushrooms and they did completely ignore that. Other then that I can’t really complain.

Had my wedding there, hall was BEAUTIFUL, but the downer was staff and management. Terrible service. Trying to get a hold of them was hard, and they were very disorganized
I recommend the room, but be prepared to have a hard time with management

Visited on Monday. Was nice and quiet with plenty of room for social distancing. Good Caesars and friendly wait staff!

Bon pub, bonne carte, bon staff mais par pitié veuillez investir dans des panneaux d absorption acoustiques. La réverbération rend le niveau sonore, inaudible, inconfortable pour même tenir une simple conversation même dans une alcôve.

We stayed in the master suite upstairs (which is beyond amazing!), and had supper at the restaurant. Daniel was our server. He was very attentive. Checked in on us often and made sure we had our order in before a birthday party did. He took the time to offer menu suggestions and seems to genuinely love being in the industry. You'd never know he has only been working here a few weeks! Chris, the manager, also came to check on us a few times. Again, very friendly and didn't make us feel rushed.

Our food was astounding. My husband tends to have bad luck ordering steaks at restaurants (he likes them rare and they usually get overcooked.). It was the first time he's said it was perfect.

The service from Justin at the hotel was also amazing. He got us everything we needed and made sure we knew he was available if we needed anything else. He's got a great personality for the hospitality industry.

I would recommend staying at the hotel and eating at the restaurant to anyone.

I have been to the restaurant many times. The best things on the menu are their wings, oysters, and charcuterie board. The rest is pretty basic. They do have a nice refresher drink.

Depending on how busy they are and who is working the staff can either be great or rude. There are a few male bartenders who are always there and seem to be the best, always friendly, but a few (not all) of the female waitresses are a bit rude especially if its busy.

I don’t like crowds so I tend to try to avoid the place on a Saturday, but during the week nights it can be a pretty relaxing environment.

Great meal. Many gluten-free options. Love the atmosphere as well. Old building with stone walls. Low lighting. We will be back.

Went here for lunch on Christmas Eve and it was amazing! I got the best chicken sandwich ever and the free white Russians was a nice treat! Thanks for making our Christmas Eve great! We will definitely be back again!

Definitely one of Moncton's premier resto-bars. Fantastic food and live music. The SJG Boutique Hotel is beautiful. Event hall is second to none. I highly recommend to any traveller or special event coordinator.

I travel to moncton regularly and you cannot beat the feel, service and food of SJG. Oysters are my personal favorite. Have been there 5 times in last 10 months and they are always fresh
