The nights with all the stars were incredible. If you love looking at the night sky, this is the place to be.

Awesome for families – lots of fun stuff for kids, and they have safety measures that made us feel really comfortable.
11 January 2024 12:23
The folks running the campground were so helpful and friendly. They made our whole stay feel really welcoming.

The range of recreational activities offered was a definite highlight. From hiking trails that showcased the natural beauty of the area to well-maintained biking paths, there was no shortage of ways to explore and enjoy the outdoors. These activities catered to both novice and experienced outdoor enthusiasts, adding a dynamic element to the camping experience.

The campground's pet-friendly policy was a major plus for those who love to travel with their furry companions. The designated pet areas and trails allowed for a seamless and enjoyable camping experience for both campers and their four-legged friends.

We eagerly moved our camper in at the beginning of the season of 2019. That very first day I introduced myself to Tina (who had just become owner and was preparing for their grand opening that weekend) I actually remember jumping in the KOA truck and going down town to help her grab a few things. Iam a very social person and attended lots of activities from day one which meant I met and became friends with members of the activity committee. By the end of that first season l found myself being asked to join the activity committee which I eagerly joined.

Fast forward 2 seasons to where the owners decided all of us on the activity committee were easily replaceable so we accepted that and decided that we would sit back and just simply enjoy the campground and our friends. After that the owners attitude towards myself and my family changed … we have always been pleasant, never had to be spoken to our lot was always kept maintained and cleaned.

As a single mom I shared a camper with my parents and every year we were there both my mother and I had our names down as the registered seasonal lot owners. Last year I was not there to sign the agreement so for the 2023 camping season it went in only my parents names. There is a section of the seasonal agreement where it states that if the registered campers are not there that no one else can come in and use the camper (hence why I’ve always been on there with my mom) however due to family circumstances that couldn’t happen this year. At the end of last season I did speak to the owners about an issue (to which their response was to come have my friends and fellow campers come talk to them about me instead of them discussing things directly with me) and because I told them that it wasn’t a good way to conduct business they told me that I could not come back to the park. As a business owner myself for 15 years I know that you can’t please anyone and that you can’t take criticism personally, you take it as an opportunity to learn and grow. At the beginning of this season they told my parents that as long as I was willing to apologize then they had no problem with me coming back to the park … life gets busy (owning a business, raising kids and taking care of parents who became sick) I hadn’t found a chance until mid July to make the trip from St Stephen to Sussex to go to the campground… we made several attempts to reach out to them to ask how I’d best to give them the apology they wanted for example a phone call or email or in person with zero return until the Thursday before Christmas in July when I had told my son and step daughter that we would be going… had told my friends that I was coming and had other friends from the states had booked sites as well for that weekend to see me and other friends at the park … when they called my mom and their response was that since I didn’t apologize at the beginning of the season they no longer were willing to except my apology. I have never in my life met such petty adults that clam to be owners to the nicest campground in southern NB.
With all that being said my parents have not been able to use their camper since July 7th as my dad has health issues and cannot drive and my mom fell down an entire flight of stairs and broke ribs and fractured her spine. Because of this I was going to drive them up on the Christmas in July weekend so they too could enjoy their camper which they paid to have a seasonal lot for. Because of all this despite the fact that the owners collected a full seasonal amount we have not been able to use our camper Because my parents weren’t able to go there and the owners we absolutely set on not allowing me who has always been on that seasonal agreement to go into the park.

It is a beautiful park with great potential however at this point the owners and their lack of compassion and to be honest down right rudeness to their campers I will never recommend them.

Great campground off the Highway. Very neat, clean bathrooms and lots of things to do for the kids.
14 August 2023 11:37
Very disappointing experience. Tiny long grassy site with absolutely NO privacy trees. We were literally an arm's length away from the back of a seasonal trailer (I'm sure they weren't thrilled either). Site not even long enough to park our vehicle. (We booked last year in December for a week). Not returning.

Went there for fishing. Tent there for one night. Caught nothing, but the river behind the campsite is gorgous, private, and entertaining. I practiced my first fly cast there, few trees and branches make it a ideal place for fly fishing.
The camp site has the best grass field in both Camper and tent area in my mind.
Washroom and bathroom are located properly across the campsite, near to play ground, near to tent sites.
If one thing may make it not perfect for others, maybe the nearby railway (near to the tent site). 2 or 3 trains a day. I am quite enjoying it, the sound and the shake of the ground make me travel back to my childhood.
And insite tractor tour is quit fun for kids.

Very good experience, all the staff were attentive and very friendly. The scenery was really beautiful and very secluded while also being around a few things which is nice as well, I’d definitely recommend going here and I’ll definitely have to come back again!

Four of us tented out last at site 371. I understand the reason for not having 2 cars, but we were the only ones down there, which was nice! But we we made to feel very uncomfortable when 2 ppl came down in a truck, and asked that the other car leave, as we were trying to unpack it! They literally stayed there and waited so they could escort my friend out with her car I paid an extra $25 for an extra tent, another $5 for checking in an hour early I could see if it was packed down there, but there was NO ONE! Will definitely not return or recommend

Booked the slightly more expensive cabin because the website said "Drive-In Movie Viewing included ** with 1 Room Rustic Camping Cabin" only to find out after arriving that the included viewing was to watch the movie from the cabin across the road from the canteen. Gave up like 10mins into the movie cause I couldn't see anything. Will be demanding a refund in the morning.
13 October 2022 12:06
Not impressed, we had a water pressure problem and for some reason our site 233 had tons of bees. It may be a nest under that old moldy picnic table we had, no way we were using that old thing, it had nails coming out of the seat. Not to mention the wifi that is not included but I should have researched that one when I booked. Lastly the desk employees theres a young lady there thats really nice and welcoming but the fellow who works at the desk is not as welcoming and actually quite grumpy.
The washrooms were very clean and we didn't try the pool.
02 October 2022 2:53
The campground is well-maintained. There is a very impressive children's playground that our children loved. There are a couple of pools to choose from of various sizes, though we only tried the largest one. It is clean and well kept.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We are travelling through and I needed something printed. They were more than happy to print the document and even delivered it to my campsite. Wonderful Customer Service.

I would highly recommend this campground and we will be return customers.
29 September 2022 12:41
Well maintained but pricy for what you get. We found that everything cost $$. Even a minimum $10 purchase to use debit. We have been to many KOAs and this was not a favourite. Would not return.
21 September 2022 8:18
We usually love the River tenting spots but this year there was a lot of background noise from maybe a factory or nighttime construction and also the highway close-by which made it difficult to sleep. We also ventured in to enjoy the pool and bouncy pillow which was ok but certainly not that enjoyable at times.

I got bellowed at from a seasonal on our way to these amenities to “slow down, would ya? ! ” when I might have been going 10km instead of the speed limit of 5km which is quite frankly hard to stay at perfectly the whole time while watching the road.

The other bothersome things were first; lots of people and children walking or biking on the road and just not even acknowledging a car coming and didn’t move over or did so very last minute.

Second, the no pool toys allowed should include a giant blown up boat with paddles that children were paddling around in and they almost hit my toddler and I with a few times even though we were staying by the stairs and shallow side only the whole time.

Third, the grass was pretty long and as a result it was quite a damp pack up in the morning and there’s only 1 portable toilet in the River Tent area.

My small suggestion is that they maybe put a little swing or slide set for small ones back there too for those of us who want the privacy from seasonal lots and lots of people and don’t want to journey into the main campground.
14 September 2022 18:48
Very nice place. Great for children. Few things to take note of. The speed bumps are not painted so they are very hard to see when you come in at night. Also there are way too many seasonal sites and they should try to keep the transient spots a little easier to access. Our 30 ft 5th wheel was very tight on our spot. It was difficult to get in with the seasonal sites having multiple vehicles parked. Other than those things, it was a great stay and very nice and clean.
30 August 2022 15:58
They have great accommodations in the park with there new playgroud. We stayed down along the river and it was outstanding especially with the hot weather this week.
31 July 2022 1:09
Awesome campground, with lots to do for kids! Nice clean campsites. The drive in is pretty neat. Staff are friendly and helpful! I will definitely be coming back!
12 July 2022 2:41
Great little park. Nice staff, clean washrooms, good shower facility and grassy trailer site. One little hiccup that was really no big deal and resolved nicely and quickly by manager and staff. Definitely recommend stay if you're in the Sussex area!

Awesome atmosphere! Great place for families with kids. Staff are quite friendly and helpful. Found some of the rules weird though but nothing over the top.
23 May 2022 5:54
Ive been going here for years and absolutely love it. I made alot of new friends that mean alit to me and the staff there are super duper friendly.i love this place so much i cannot wait for it to open back up in may! Im seasonal there so i already have a lot.definitely recommend!
12 November 2021 15:35
Clean. Nice view. Lots for the kids to do. Our site was not properly marked which caused confusion. When mentioning it to the young girl who checked us in she said it happens all the time.ya think maybe they should have fixed it by now.
11 October 2021 20:14
This was our 3rd visit there this summer, 2021. We got a pull through site for our trailer, which is a bit pricey, but so worth it. We had 13 in our party and they allowed us to put a tent on our site for an additional $25 per night. We had checked with other camp sites and most dont allow for tents on the same site. We were close to the showers and washrooms. The only thing i would complain about is the bingo night down at the rec hall. People were sitting on the basketball court so our kids couldnt play ball until it was over. The bingo caller made a loud announcement with his microphone and told our kids to stop. There was lots of grass that the players could have moved to. Overall, we will go back again.
30 September 2021 14:06
Stayed at site 390 (I think) which was located on the river. What a beautiful couple days.
Staff was helpful and the area was very clean.
27 September 2021 17:38
Was driving from Ontario to Nova Scotia in our new RV, we stopped here thinking it was just off the highway.

However it was very far away from the transcanada, and we had to go over a couple of construction bridges and a long stretch of bumpy road.

Would not recommend going here if you’re looking for a convenient stop off the highway.

Otherwise it was a great site, with lots of amenities.
21 September 2021 13:02
Always a treat! Love the ol'school feeling it brings to attend the drive in! Recommended to anyone on a first date or just trying to enjoy some quality family time! Make sure you have a good battery in your vehicle as you need to have your vehicle's radio to tune into the movie! Or you may bring a radio with batteries to use!
20 September 2021 11:08
The campground was clean and neat and a great place to camp especially for the families who have little ones. The drive in was just next door and the campers have a great view of the screen.
21 August 2021 1:32
The drive in is always one of the highlights of our trip to New Brunswick. Our younger kids always enjoy it as well. Reasonably priced as well
06 August 2021 14:01
Very nice and clean camp ground lots to do for the kids spots for trailers and tents are nice only thing I was disappointed in was you had to pay for enternet if you choose too the amount of money you pay to stay there should be Free let face it more for the kid's devices to keep them entertained mornings and evenings shouldn't have to pay for it
29 July 2021 17:07
Got the privilege of being the first campers down by the river. The park is well kept and staffed by very polite and helpful people, from the gate to the park staff, and the drive in canteen workers.

The river is tones of fun for swimming and riding floaties down, there's a couple small faster areas but it's shallower and we had no issues.

Tina check on us and always made sure we had what we needed. The owner went out of their way to book us in a nice area when the camp ground was full.

All the bathrooms, pools, parks were very clean.

The only complaint is I think some of the pools and things should open a little earlier and stay open a little later.
26 July 2021 11:30
Sites were super clean and the guys going around in carts were very best. One even sold us a few bundles of wood at midnight to keep the fire going instead of shutting it down.

The WORST, and I can not express that enough, was the woman I spoke to on the phone about getting the FREE WIFI they advertise in their pamphlet they handed to me when we got there. I tried to get my kids a video to watch to fall asleep to but instead this woman very rudely told me there is no free wifi and when I said why is it advertised she said and I quote “sir I don’t know what you’re not understanding about this, there is no free wifi, we did away with that last year, that’s and old pamphlet” she then told me that “it’s the same thing as going to a hotel you have to pay for the internet”

I’ve never ONCE paid for internet at a hotel and paying the $$$ for the site I figured it wouldn’t be a push to include it for the stay. This one woman single handedly got me fired up enough to never go back.

Had a wonderful experience at KOA Sussex.

The staff is super friendly, and the park is very well maintained. We didn’t use the on site bathrooms until I was just leaving, but did see that the bathrooms are very clean.

We will be back next time we’re around the area.
11 October 2020 11:35
Kids are having a blast! Staff and patrons are wonderful. Pool and bathrooms are close by. Triple Bill Drive In tomorrow night.

Rates are good
11 October 2020 6:08
Nice campground with a pool, playground, and drive in theatre (pay separately). We had a big field in front of our campsite so it was great for the kids to run around and play catch. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and the park was kept clean.

I give 4 stars and not 5 because we booked a site that was suitable for our 10ft pop up camper and were given a site much too small. When we went back to the main office to get a proper site they said they knew we wouldn't be able to fit the camper there but still sent us to it.

That was the only issue and we plan on going back this summer.
19 August 2020 15:18
Sussex KOA is a very nice spot. Washrooms are always clean, staff and campers are all very nice. I have a seasonal lot here because I am working in Sussex. They have plenty of activities for people of all ages. And the drive in is run by the owners and staff of the camp ground. Just camp and catch a movie on the big screen!
16 August 2020 6:02
Had an absolute blast. Had heard many wonderful things but did not expect it to be so beautiful, well kept, tidy, friendly, clean. A truly world class destination and I can't wait to come back.
07 August 2020 7:46
Very large and busy campground, people coming and going all weekend, a lot of dogs barking, smaller camping spots, water pressure comes and goes. Overall not a bad place, friendly staff and decently kept, just not my cup of tea. Will not return
11 December 2019 22:49
Really enjoyed our time here. Was well run and organized. Had no issues but I felt I could talk to the manager as they were very open with me and my family. The drive-in is really fun and the kids enjoyed it.

Really nice place. In a beautiful countryside location. We got a pizza delivered. Peaceful, restful during our stay. Good dog run area. Convenient from/to highway on way to Bay Fundy national Park
18 November 2019 18:52
What an amazing campground! Stayed with my family for one week an we had a blast. Campground and Bathrooms were impeccable! The owner, Don, even swung by one night asking if everything was fine! How is that for service!
07 November 2019 2:22
We have been going to the Sussex KOA every year since we purchased our trailer. Each time we went was enjoyable. The staff are friendly, wasrooms are clean & the owners serm to be putting in a good effort at improving some of the negatives. We will be back again. Hoping for more of the same.
02 November 2019 22:31
Great experience. Went for the drive in theater and was very impressed. Very friendly and helpful staff to be found and a great little area for camping and taking kids. Best to line it up with a drive in movie for the best experience
23 October 2019 16:57
Large park filled with friendly campers. We tented and were lucky to get a spot with a tree. I felt bad for the tents in the open field, that would be hot! It was annoying that the jumping pillow had a lock on it requiring a parent to walk to the office to get the key then supervise the pillow filled with everyone's children then kick them all out when their kids were done. I was also disappointed that we missed many events because the staff checking us in didn't tell us about anything. The highway and mill are a bit loud but if you're camping right you'll be tired from the days activities and not notice.
09 October 2019 8:22
Very poorly ran campground. New owners this year and has made this campground not enjoyable. Shutting power off to people’s trailers because they went out for a couple hours and left the A/C going. Not friendly. Will not even wave if they go by. Treat their staff terribly. Not good business people.
06 October 2019 7:14
My retired parents were not informed of their "temporary cancellation policy" during the balloon festival when they and another couple booked their stay, which isn't even a real site - just a place to park.

They called to cancel with over 48 hours notice due to extenuating circumstances thinking it would be fine - as usually they have $10 cancellation fee with 48 hours notice that they were aware of as National Policy from frequenting KOAs - but they were informed they will get no refund and no raincheck because the business chose to revoke this policy during this particular weekend. This is after they would not let them book 2 days, and would only take them if they booked 3 even though they'd only ever planned to use 2. Typically, one-night visits are not an issue at KOA campgrounds either.

It's really unfortunate that new owners from away came into a long-established business location and choose to show no regard for their past patrons or kindness and decency in times of natural disaster.

Needless to say, my parents are feeling very taken advantage of in this situation and if you're searching for a place to stay in Sussex, don't choose KOA. Heads up, they own the Drive-In as well.

Nice and quiet during the week, everyone is friendly. Stayed here 4 nights in a 42ft fifth wheel. A little tight backing in but not unusual or concerning, sites are wide so had room to turn in, we fit just fine.
