The Gables Restaurant

The food was really good but they gave me tomato's even though I ask for no tomato's but the food came here quick.

The best food we have had in Saint Andrew's so far. The waiter was amazing, when asked for recommendations he explained the whole menu. The batter on the fish platter didn't hold grease like the waiter explained which was a different experience as most fish platters are full of grease. Jon was the waiters name and he was exceptional! Thank you.

Sadly this restaurant has gone down hill. It used to be a venue we looked forward to visiting each
year when we were in Saint Andrews. The menu was much more varied and had some unique international specialties. It has now become an expensive overpriced burger joint.

Our server Tyler gave us the best service we have ever had at any restaurant. We only had a small order but he went out of his way to provide excellent service.

Charming restaurant and friendly staff. Food was excellent and there is a kids menu for those who need.

We had fish and chips, chicken burger and fries and chicken strips and fries and everything tasted great. Love the atmosphere and staff were all very friendly.

I think the hostess heard me when I blurted out that "This place is nice. " Make sure you go down the alley on the right. You end up on this charming little place overlooking the bay.

Gorgeous people in a friendly town. Top notch. Came in for soup and a drink, and left so satisfied. They successfully tempted me with pie and I'm glad they did!

I’ll pass on this one next time in St. Andrews.everything seemed very bland.scenery from the deck was nice.service isn’t up to par.nice lady, and they try hard but you can tell that most servers are not actually trained.

Wonderful place to eat! Had two meals here while staying in New Brunswick and both meals were delicious! Our server Karen, was such a hoot (she should have her own show). The restaurant was so nicely done up and you can sit on the patio (blankets supplied for colder days how cute is that?) or inside, complete with a full size shark hanging from the ceiling! A great place to eat!

Great location and nice place to eat on the water. Try to get a table outside. Service was attentive and the food was fresh and delicious.

Jon was an amazing waiter and we were so lucky to have him. He was so accommodating with our 11 month old daughter. The food was great but the service really took the cake. We would come back again just to be served by Jon. Thank you so Much we were so well looked after.

It is a good restaurant and I liked the view. We ordered Thai and seafood plate.

Our favorite St Andrews restaurant. We appreciate they kept the mask mandate even after it was optional. Made for a comfortable experience. I had seafood platter and it was perfect: lightly battered, generous serving, very fresh tasting fish, not greasy at all. My wife does not like fish but found a really tasty chicken Caesar wrap that she enjoyed immensely. Their patio is beautiful, unique and tasteful. It was built around large trees that provided natural shade.

I don't give them high marks as both the web site and voice mail says they are open until 7 today, but the sign in the window says closed for the season.

We had an absolute lovely time at the Gables. We watched the most beautiful sunset on the deck while eating a great dinner! They even had blankets you could cuddle up with when the sun went down. Our server was absolutely fantastic! My partner can’t eat gluten and our server went through the menu with us and shared how the kitchen could make many of the plates gluten free. It was a breath of fresh ocean air! We will definitely be back to the Gables, and recommend it to anyone going to St. Andrews!

Friendly staff, great location and ambiance. As we went only for drinks, I cannot rate the location for food.

I enjoyed a Green Gable cocktail. The view is wonderful. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Very good COVID-19 procedures.

Don't go there to save money. Our bill for 3 adults and 3 kids (1 of which was 1.5 years old) was north of 150. We only had one drink each.

But I can absolutely say it was worth EVERY PENNY. Absolutely fantastic food and a stunning view.

If this is the new bar that's been set for casual dining - sign me up!

Food was mediocre at best. Chef needs to find where seasonings are. Can't believe when order fresh catch of the day get tasteless small piece of trout.

Amazing burgers (Mitchburger!) And fish and chips. Sit overlooking the bay. Excellent service too

Customer service was excellent. My girlfriend and I were there yesterday after visiting kingsbrae gardens and I worked up quite the appetite. The inside dining room has an awesome rustic "fishing village" feel to it, and the patio is wonderful. My girlfriend and I sat on the patio just as the wind started to pick up and the waitress offered us BLANKETS. Never have I ever seen this kind of care for the customer in any of the restaurants I've ever been in. It was wonderful. Garlic bread with cheese appetizer was delicious, I simply wish we sat inside; because the winds cooled it down very quickly but when you're sitting on the coast what else can you expect! I promise the view of the coast is well worth it! I had the Bull burger (char broiled) which was very good (and I don't typically like char broiled burgers) the fries were excellent as well. My girlfriend had the lobster roll and was also very impressed. Fresh, delicious, and leaves you wanting more. We will definitely be back, all in all a fantastic Restaurant. What blew me away the most was that they offer blankets to people who might get cold on the patio, it's the epitome of "the customers come first".

Best fried seafood I’ve ever had. Light and crispy yet soft and moist in the middle. Great little restaurant by the water.

The size of The Gables on Water St.can be deceiving from the front, quite a large dining room and beautiful patio.
Most importantly, the food was more than delicious at the correct temperature. I was worried from another review stating that the portions were too small, they are NOT. We absolutely recommend the seafood chowder and the "Thai Seafood" (nice portion of shrimp, fish and scallops with green curry and vermicelli - not spicy at all).
The service was excellent i.e, The head waiter asked several tables if the food and everything was OK, which I think makes a difference; customers can borrow a blanket if the weather is not optimal outside; we received recommendations from our waiter on which beer to look out for while in the province.

Welcoming and efficient staff. Best seafood I have had on awhile. The batter was so light on the scallops. My husband had the seafood platter and he thought it was wonderful. We chose to eat on the patio and was offered a blanket as weather was foggy.

I loved it here! The patio was beautiful and I ordered the lobster roll, it was amazing. Great place to eat at any time:)

Miss for families over 4 people.

I'm really upset with how we were treated going in, we were 9 in our group and were told that they could not accommodate that. I was fine with splitting the 2 families but when they told me that my family of 6 would have to be split up I was not ok with that. I have 4 children under 6, they cannot sit alone and you guys wouldn't even try to find a solution. We walked out and went to their competitors down the street and they easier accommodated our families. We easily spent a few hundred dollars that could of been spent at The Gables.

Not a bad place but its definitely over priced for tourists.there's a wicked view from outside on the patio. Server was super friendly.

Great spot to relax and eat. Food was delicious and super friendly staff. Also, the view on the deck while eating was amazing.

We decided to stop here after reading a lot of positive reviews but we felt let down after leaving. The prices were high for what you get, for example the side of gravey was $2.00 and was served in a shotglass and was clearly made from a powder. The fish and chips were ok and a standard size but the price for two peices was almost $20. I would not recomend stopping here.

We we're there yesterday. We had six people in our group. My son and daughter in law had the sea food platter. They said they weren't happy with the portions. And that it was not worth the 26 dollars. I ordered off of the childrens/ lighter portion menu. There were only 3 choices.hamburger, fish chicken nuggets. All plus fries. I had the fish. The portion was ok.but my options were to limited. Mine was supposed to come with a beverage. I never did see my lemonade. I forgot all about it until we left the restaurant. My husband had the cheeseburger with bacon. (it had a name that I don't remember) he ended up giving it to my grandson and son.he went somewhere else after we left! The bacon was hard and the burger was overcooked and tough. We even had to ask another server to bring us a doggy bag for my grandson's leftovers. Everytime we asked ours for something an older man would tell her to do something else! So we were Never asked how our meal was, or given any chance to request any changes to our meals! Needless to say we won't be returning any time soon!

Our small group stopped by here today for lunch. Definitely try to eat on their waterfront deck - awesome view of the area and nicely shaded by the trees. You can eat indoors, but eating outside really makes this place a nice treat. Their fish and chips was absolutely delicious. The batter was light and the haddock flaked apart. The clams were also very good. The scallops were amazing. I will say that the service was also very good and friendly. Great place to unwind - highly recommend stopping by.

Always OUR FAVORITE place. The best Fish n Chips anywhere east if you don't want grease, thick batter, this is your place too light batter with fish cooked to perfection.

Wife had the fish and chips and I had the seafood combo everything was great but the batter was the worst batter I have ever had you get better batter on frozen fish sticks that's why the low rating view is great staff was friendly but I hope the change the fish and seafood batter

Some very fine panco crusted Haddock fish and chips, and Delicious Picaroon ale! It was raining hard, or else I would have been out on the deck with my dog. Supposed to be a gorgeous view.

Wow. Great location over looking the tide (s) with a beautiful sunset while we ate. Terrific service, food was cooked exactly to our liking, and they even have blankets for those who want to sit outside when it's chilly. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Not impressed with the staff. They was to busy with small talk to do their job. When I walked in I got that look as they passed me off to the old lady that was disrespectful towards me. I am a always polite but she was still rude and not helpful. The food was ok but have had a lot better for the same cost

Seafood platter was delicious, I would have it again. I think my kid liked their cheese burger all though there wasnt much to it, was definitely home made.staff was super nice although I apparently went in the off season during the day and it was quiet. I thought it was nice

Great meal and excellent service even on a crazy busy day for the staff. Loved the garden entrance, lobster sculpture, and the bay views are fantastic.

Exquisite from the food to the service to the scenery. I would travel to St. Andrew's for this place alone. Best place to eat in the region.

Great location. Best waterfront space in St. Andrews. Food is very good. Beer and wine selection is mediocre and service can be very slow.

We first came for the view and came back for the food:) Very quaint restaurant with breath taking views. The patio is perfect with the shade trees. Friendly staff and great food

The view that can’t be beat! Food is good/average, but there’s not better dinner spot in St. Andrews to watch the sun set and look out on the bay! Loved it.
They even supply blankets for the chilly nights and the daily specials had something for everyone.

Average food at average price. Not offensive but not memorable either. Lobster roll a tad bland and fried a tad greasy but on balance it was okay.

Like in just about any waterfront restaurant in Saint Andrews, try to get seated at an outdoor table on the large patio overlooking Passamaquoddy bay. Our group tried the bull, chicken and salmon burgers and was satisfied. Average prices and friendly service.

Went here a few times while in St Andrews. Good beer selection and delicious food! Had mostly drinks and a light snack of their garlic bread one day and their guacamole and chips another

Do NOT eat the salmon! It was hands down, the most tasteless piece of fish I've ever eaten. It's amazing that a such a bad dish would ever be on a menu. Read other reviews for other dishes but I will never go back. One positive note: the view from the deck is nice.

We went to The Gables for dinner.the food was very good and the service was also very good. Keep it up.

Our party had a wonderful lunch of fish and chips and seafood combo. The tempora batter was very good. Sierra our server was excellent. Our new favorite place in Saint Andrews.

The restaurant’s policy for not allowing two people to sit at a table for 4 needs to be reviewed. They were not busy at 8: 00 pm. Many open tables. Also they didn’t follow the policy uniformly, as some couples were seated at tables for 4.

Great food and great service. Thank you for being open past 9pm! Dinner was so good we came back for lunch the next day after whale watching.

Dawn, Jenn and Sierra are wonderful, they always go above and beyond. The food is amazing, the view is stunning. The Bull Burger is outstanding, if you see the scallop burger on as a special this is a must have.we will be back. Thanks for being so lovely everytime.

Awesome food! The fish is solid, and the chips are nice as well. Good portions, and service is prompt and friendly. The view is really exceptional, and the ambience of the entire place is great.
