The Tipsy Muse Café

Review of new location/ownership - nice spot, great view out the window towards the river, great place to sit in the afternoon and get some work done. I really want to love this place, and I love supporting friendly local businesses, but unfortunately the espresso has gone downhill since moving locations. Now it tastes bitter and there’s a lack of nuance—the bitter taste takes over. Also, they serve it in a plastic wine cup, which is really off-putting. I want to keep coming here—I have tried several times, but it’s the same bitter roast every time, and drinking from plastic is a bummer. This will not be a usual stop for me anymore.

People think because espresso is strong that it should be made with really dark beans or something—adding to this misconception is that often the generic darkest-roasted beans are sold as “espresso roast”. But this should not be the case!

For people who love espresso as a wonderful drink, please offer a different roast! If they want to keep doing the bitter one, go ahead, but I wish they would also offer a feature espresso for those who prefer medium/med-light roast (as espresso should be!), with nice brightness and acidity and round, balanced flavour that allows one to pick up the notes of the bean. I think they could, because I’ve bought Freddy Bean beans (medium roast) before and made espresso at home, and it was very nice! So, my thoughts: please serve espresso in glass or pottery-ware, and definitely choose more appropriate beans/offer choices!

1-2 stars for the espresso, but giving it 3 overall to account for the nice location and friendly staff.

I have been here several times but the recent visit which was after they moved to new location was really disappointing! I ordered 2 oat flat whites and the price was $15. And I said that I wanted to have it in cafe 2-3 times but they gave in to go cup (others in the cafe had cafe cups). Then I get the coffee and it looks like no effort was made to make it and it also tasted more milky than coffee. This place is now expensive and really provides bad service. The muse is awesome local coffee made by stellar local people. Get a great view, good vibes, great coffee, and friendly faces here.

Friendly service, great oat milk lattes, and tasty vegan breakfast bagel sandwiches. Out of towner, visited two days in a row!

Absolutely love this coffee shop. I've had amazing coffees all over the world and this cafe is a good one!

This place used to be great but management has clearly changed. Used to serve fresh bagels, now serve thin store-bought bagels, breakfast was cold with low quality ingredients.coffee used to be good and is now lousy.

First time trying this Cafe. I ordered an all dressed bagel breakfast sandwich that I didn't really like and my husband didn't like his breakfast sandwich on a whole wheat bagel either. We also ordered two medium "drip" coffees which were ok. I like the atmosphere of the Cafe itself but the food for us was just so so. With the tip our bill came to a little over $25.

Love this place. Definitely my go to spot for a morning coffee and a bagel. This coffee is the best in Fredericton and the flavours of bagels and cream cheese is epic. A super chilled and quiet spot for a chill or to get on with work.

I came here more times than I could count, it had such a relaxing atmosphere and the open mic was a lot of fun. I bought one of their cups before I left as well. Will be back when I’m in the area.

The muse is like a poetry reading of flavours, for your mouth. (But I really come for the plants)

OMG out of the world experience. Staff. OFF THE HOOK AMAZING. Fast service, delicious food, great product. Beautiful music!

Delicious Gluten free option!
They have a plain gluten free bagel option, and were very kind to open a new plain cream cheese for me to prevent cross contamination. They also have a gluten free toaster which is so so so lovely. My bagel came out of the kitchen on a tray with parchemin paper before being plated and delivered to me personally. Not to mention the bagel itself was delicious- I had to get my partner to taste it to make sure it was actually gluten free (lol).

These folks really went over and above to accommodate my allergy, and it is so incredibly appreciated.

The people I was with had coffee served in beautiful hand-made pottery mugs, and the Breakfast Bagel.

Accessibility: there is a ramp alternative to the few stairs to enter the cafe. Gender neutral, accessible washrooms in the back.

Was the worst experience, the bagel was so hard the cream cheese did not even melt into the bagel. First and last visit for us.

Best place for coffee in town! The drinks are delicious and the cafe/live music combo is super cool. The bagels weren't worth the price in my opinion and it's often hard to find a seat but otherwise a great place

Coffee is decent, especially considering its very reasonable price. Good vibe at the location. Nice bagels, as expected. Counter service is fine, if not crazily friendly. Pretty good spot for a nicer brew that your standard coffee donut place.

I dig the vibe here and the friendly atmosphere! Nice tunes and it feels very bright and friendly! Not to mention the coffee was really nice as well ️ I had a vanilla latte and it was delicious!

I wish I had never gone because now everything else is pretty lame compared to The Muse. Just an awesome place with great coffee, a stellar vibe, and ballin' baristas. We loved the nighttime drinks and live music so much that we came back for coffee and were not disappointed.

This is such a cute place that was open on Easter Sunday! They have a wide variety of Vegan and Vegetarian options. I wasn't there during open mic night or afternoon, but I have walked by, when it was occurring, and it looks pretty cool. I had the Green Tea and Whole Wheat Bagel with Vegan Red Pepper Cream Cheese.

They have some sweet and thoughtful things, such as a coaster that has prizes embedded in the QR code and a wall of kindness in remembrance to a musician. Definitely a positive atmosphere for creativity and tranquility.

This cafe is cute and cozy. It has a fun welcoming atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. Best coffee shop in Freddy by far!

Excellent Service! Facilities are beautiful and kept pristine! The menus is diverse and delicious! And the coffee is a strong enough hit to keep me awake at my desk!

Pretty good coffee, didn't burn the espresso beans like some places, but they were a bit too acidic to mesh well with the dark chocolate in their mocha.

A little gem! Fantastic place, outstanding service, excellent quality! Smoothie, iced Chai Latte, Latte, Americano, breakfast bagels, everything was spot on! Would definitely come back!

Real fresh Montreal bagels with a nice variety of cream cheese and great coffee - who could ask for more? But there is more: cheerful ambiance and local art. A great find for this visitor from the Toronto area. (It's not easy to find such good bagels there!)

I had the utmost honour of playing here for a couple hours. That atmosphere this place gives you is surreal. The staff is nice and the coffee and beer selection is wicked! A very good spot to stop for a bagel and coffee or an even better spot to stop to see the local music talent!

Unique atmosphere that has great appeal. However that makes seating hard to get so plan on grabbing and going.

I love this place! Staff are very friendly and helpful. It's very vegan friendly and the staff go out of their way to double check on this. The food and coffee is amazing. Love it! So happy this place exists because I'm tired of supporting mega chains like Starbucks.

We did an enjoyable foodie tour organized by the Tipsy Muse starting and ending there. The other places included were MOCO, Rustico, and the 11th mile. Great food and drink samples at all the stops. Friendly & efficient guide.

The Tipsy Muse Cafe has been a lifesaver during my quarantine pre-holidays. Amazing service with delivery every weekend for all of us coffee-addicts. The coffee itself is also perfect - highly recommend Stayin’ Alive. Looking forward to visiting in person after my quarantine!

Very friendly atmoshere, good coffee and excellent entertainment (Peter Hansen). A few suggestions would be to cover or hide the recycle blue bins to blend with the decor, offer more in terms of appetizers and have dimmer lighting, more seating and less humidity.

Snug, cozy licenced coffee shop with live music in the evenings (they have the schedule up on the wall). Coffee served in mugs made by local potters at the craft college. When there isn't live music, there's vinyl spinning, and you can buy it if you want. They serve tea, hot chocolate, and coffee roasted in NS (drip, or espresso-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos). They also have bottled pop from PEI, canned iced tea from NS, and local beer, wine, cider, and spirits. Photography from local photographers lines the walls. My one complaint would be that I find the chairs uncomfortable, but I won't take a star off for that. The vegan treats must be tasty, because they were sold out by the time I got there! Will be interesting to see how this place evolves - it's great to see a new music venue in the city, especially after the loss of Read's.

They have a great selection of beverages, they are also licensed to serve alcohol. And they have vegan treats. They only problem was that they need more seating. Wanted to sit and enjoy the vinyl and coffee but had to leave cause limited seating

Having lived in Italy for a while, I was excited to try the coffee at this new cafe. At $4 for an espresso, I was disappointed when it was served stone cold and extremely bitter. Tipsy Muse has done a disservice to Italy and my taste buds.

They've got a record player spinning 60s tunes, beer/cider on tap, tasty coffee, and Montreal Bagels. Also the beer tap handles are old musical instruments. What more could you ask for? !
