I was into the Saint John Value Village on Tuesday evening on January 2,2024, and I couldn't believe how messy the store was, and the poor customer service. Apparently it was Seniors discount day, and the racks were a mess with a lot of clothing laying on the floor, and the toy section looked like a hurricane had hit it, as staff seemed not to care as they casually strolled around. The check out was about the same as the full service check out was badly backed up, with only one cashier, who seemed to be going at a snail pace as I noticed a lot of customers leaving their carts at the check out, and walking out the door. Not positive, but it seems that Value Village may be trying to force customers into self check out by slowing the full service check out to a stand still. Maybe they should change their name to " No Service Village " as that seems to be the direction that they are taking.

Prices are extremely high for items they get for free; plus you get charged tax on used items!
14 November 2023 6:06
Might as well shop at wal Mart or any other store with the current prices in this second hand store. Embarassing
04 October 2023 15:44
Not very great service from staff. They seem to run around not knowing what they are doing most times.
09 December 2022 15:54
Very busy as it was a Saturday.great selection of clothes, shoes, etc. They seemed to be short staffed.long lineups.they are getting a little pricy too.more expensive than Costco for the same item.
12 August 2022 4:53
Always great staff, prices are okay for the most part and some are ridiculously priced. They keep the shelves cleaned and wiped down. Neat & organized.

Store stinks, over priced and the security cameras are strategically placed so your reflection in the mirror in the changing room is seen on camera. No Decency or privacy here. Doing illegal things. I even seen a top from Walmart they were charging more than Walmart for a used piece of garbage. Strongly not reccommended.

I find the prices have sky rocketed with this company. When this store first opened, thier prices were quite reasonable, but looking up the item of clothing or other merchandise to see what it is selling at on E Bay or other establishments, they have driven up the prices to the point of three times of the amount of which the prices used to be. Perhaps it might be time, to remember, items are being donated by the public and that it is not a high end department store
16 February 2022 7:38
If you're into recycling and looking for that special thing that is no longer available, you just might find it. Large selection of everything from toys to furniture, all donated and reperpoused for future use
09 February 2022 7:06
Customer service is abhorrent.
One cashier for 12+ people in line. Staff lack courtesy and manners. Disorganized, etc.
And don't forget, this is now a "for profit" operation.
06 February 2022 8:39
Good prices and friendly staff punctuate any visit. Really, some would say this is the heart of Saint John.
21 November 2021 19:35
The thrift store that has everything you could ever want only one issue these clothes are donated and name brands are over priced
03 November 2021 6:27
They have a sign that says try on your clothes at home but yest they won't honour refunds. You literally have to exchange it with something else. Ridiculous system!

I got an email saying from January to September that as a rewards member I spent over $600 and got rewards savings of $134. Under their new rewards program. I would have saved $6. DO NOT SHOP AT VALUE VILLAGE.
24 October 2021 21:01
My first time at a Value Village. Don't know if it's a Covid thing or if this is normal, but most of the items for sale were dirty. I understand these are used items, and you get what you pay for but you might as well be using FB Marketplace. Several handbags my wife looked at still had items inside from the previous owner, one had a piece of candy.the store itself wasn't bad and the employees were helpful and great. Just not what we were expecting in terms of goods for sale.

Used to be much better. They used to serve the community by providing a department store atmosphere at prices everyone could afford. Now I can buy a pair of jeans at Costco for less than a used pair from value village. Their products for sale are all DONATED. So I just don't understand how their prices can be so high, they sometimes charge more than regular retail stores selling brand new items do.

I have also found that there is no rhyme or reason to their pricing. You can for instance find a T-shirt for 7.99 and then a little further down, find virtually the same shirt for 9.99. It is as if they just give it a price based on the opinion of what the person putting the price tag feels like it should cost at any given moment.

Prices should be the same.all t-shirts cost $x.xx etc. Prices shouldn't be almost the same as charged for brand new if the stuff is being donated.

Value Village is a place to go when you need affordable stuff. Clothes, shoes, kitchen wares, books and anything you might need for house.
04 October 2021 9:48
I used to come here with my mum because the clothes were affordable for our low income family. Now thrifting is cool, and they have taken full advantage. The prices are ridiculous, and it makes me very sad.
20 September 2021 1:29
Great deals on some cool vintage items, usually some great artwork or books to be found. Good selection of second hand clothing.
08 September 2021 7:35
Great selection of clothes. Good prices. The toy wall is amazingly organized and orderly. They have a great selection of DVDs. Something for everyone here
28 August 2021 4:25
Overpriced. 100 dollars later. Used to be able to get a cart full of clothes for under 80.unreal.
11 April 2021 17:12
Some things are worth the price, except the items that they charge more then what they are new. Some items are sold for over $50-$150 and it's all donated. It is a good place to find old speakers and amplifiers/receivers.
18 March 2021 13:25
In this place we bought the first utensils after immigration.there are both new and old: clothes, shoes, toys, appliances, utensils. I put 4 points because for 5 dollars I bought a sealed bag with ceiling towels, and they are all cut.
08 November 2019 7:21
It's a ok they do need to treat there stuff better because the way they treat there stuff in the back is like slavery but the prices are ok they do need to lower them a bit
31 October 2019 18:30
The prices many times rival stores with brand new clothing! I don't shop in here anymore as I can't see buying used clothes at the price of new ones, especially when these items are donated.
30 October 2019 23:11
Okay quality of goods, decent selection, prices on some brand name items are quite high though unfortunately
26 October 2019 20:52
Incredibly expensive. Second hand Walmart brands should not be priced higher than they can be bought new from Walmart. Easily the most expensive V. V. I’ve ever been in, with the least amount of quality donations.
22 October 2019 8:52
Prices were so high for donated items.i saw a stuffed animal that crawlwd and made a few npises for 33.99! I simply bought a dress and pjs for my daughter and canistwr for dog treats and it was 18.99 with the 20 percent coupon. I will continue to donate irems but i will not shop unless it is 50 percent off.
20 October 2019 0:37
Village has a large selection of mostly used good. Clothing can be new but of poor quality. Most items are half price, too high for used. A 3 is generous
19 October 2019 2:07
Miserable workers, terrible prices, and the store stinks. Never going back again. Gone way down hill
16 October 2019 21:35
Prices very high. How are used items priced higher than new. I find dollar store stuff for more than the dollar store lol. This store smells like filth and I the clothes are more than new in stores
14 October 2019 4:32
Great value village we find some good treasures at this location every time. The prices on some things are too much for donated items but this seems to be an issue chain wise.
28 September 2019 3:51
Some items are over priced and some shouldn't have been put on shelves. Not all bad, but could be better
27 September 2019 15:41
I used to work there, they get EVERYTHING for free and then charge you triple the original cost. Scam.
24 September 2019 18:40
I was in Saint John And I had to empty out my house so I made a few trips to donate thing to the centre I was so very pleased with the couple of young Men That was working in that Department on how helpful and friendly and polite they were keep up the good work.
13 September 2019 11:04
I went in for old books.and discovered ridiculous prices for so many of them. I guess I'm not surprised. I stopped buying clothes there over 10 years ago for the same reason.
25 August 2019 17:35
Good place to.buy used cloths and other items. Please donate your used but in good condition cloths and other items to this firm as the income goes to a good cause in the society.
18 August 2019 6:12
The store is always clean and organized. Lots of selection. However some things that are worth more value, I understand they can ask a higher price, but some of those types of items are really over priced. That's the only disappointment.
10 August 2019 4:42
Large store full of a very large selection of items. I've often have found unexpected items that would be difficult to find elsewhere. Prices are a little high for used clothing but still a lot less than paying for new. I recently bought a great pair of running shoes in perfect condition for $10 that would have cost $50 new.
13 July 2019 23:57
Perfect place to find second hand clothes. There are many options to choose from and you can find something new every day! If you want to donate you can sometimes get discounts based on how much you donate.
28 June 2019 23:18
The prices of use clothes have gone up.find it annoying when you can get a brand new pair of jeans for the same price of used jeans
24 June 2019 11:09
Big store with large selection of clothing, toys and household items. Not the best selection of furniture but it all depends what is donated. Great place to drop off you gently used clothing or goods.
22 June 2019 8:09
Nice place for Halloween articles, or few rare finds. Overall, this place needs some cleaning especially on the floor. Staff is friendly. Clothes are in good condition. Expensive items and not that fashionable compared to other Value Villages.
12 June 2019 14:39
A huge selection second hand goods to choose from. Clothing, books, dishes, footwear, kids toys, furniture, exercise equipment. Never know what you might find. If you look hard enough you can find clothing with the original price tag still on.
31 May 2019 11:57
Value Village needs to educate their customers as well as staff on their point reward options. It's frustrating to know points could've been earned.
And points lost because they're over the 90 day mark and cannot be redeemed.
13 May 2019 17:22
Not the cleanest store but a good selection of clothes. Men's shoes were a bit lacking and the lines were a bit long. Still got some good deals though and the service was very friendly.
