Village Historique Acadien

Très bel endroit, beaux bâtiments et très bon acteurs gentils et accueillants. Histoire bien racontée. Par contre, assez grande distance distance entre les bâtiments et le tour du circuit est de 2.2 kilometres a pied, rallongé par le manque d’indications et le plan fourni qui est joli mais difficile a lire. Pas conseillé au gens qui ont des difficultés a se déplacer et difficile de se fier a la petite autobus que l’on ne vois que très rarement.

A beautiful experience and a great contribution to learning about the history of the place.

It is indeed the nicest hotel, people, and historical parc/spot I have stayed at in a long while. Stayed two nights at the Albert hotel. No TV in the rooms but had my laptop. WIFI was fine. Awesome experience. Must visit if you are a fan of French Canadian history - Acadian. Staff are bilingual and very eager to accommodate you in every way possible. I intend to go back soon!

J'y avais été il y a environ 10 ans et j'y suis retournée il y a 2 semaines. Excellent endroit à visiter et c'est un INCONTOURNABLE lors d'un voyage au Nouveau-Brunswick. C'est une visite d'une journée et il faut y consacrer toute qu'une journée si on veut bien faire la visite et voir absolument tout. Nous avons fait l'immersion complète et n'avons pas du tout regretté! Nous avons dîner au restaurant sur place et la nourriture ainsi que le service était impeccable! Nous avons aussi dormi à l'Hôtel Le Château Albert (directement sur le site) et c'est venu bien clore la visite. Le personnel est accueillant, partout sur le site, le déjeuner au château est délicieux. C'est vraiment un incontournable! Ça fait déjà 2 semaines qui nous y sommes allés et je suis encore très nostalgique. Je suis impatiente de refaire un autre 8 heures de route pour venir voir ce magnifique village!

Un incontournable dans la région. Les animateurs sont excellents et le parcours se fait en ordre chronologique, en commençant par une maison de 1770 pour terminer avec des édifices jusqu'à la moitié du XXe siècle.

Le restaurant à la mi-parcours (la table des ancêtres) vaut la peine.surtout la tarte au sucre!

Le billet d'entrée est bon pour deux jours. C'est une bonne chose car le parcours peut être assez long pour des gens moins en forme ou à mobilité réduite.

They have a cooperage, a barrel mill and a bucket maker! This is a big open air living history museum that is worth visiting just as that, but the time-line portrayal of Acadian life in New Brunswick is not to be missed. Very good, fully bilingual Interpretation throughout the site. Lots of heritage animals and plants. I liked that the staff were all eating lunch in the various houses using the food grown there.
Wear good walking shoes, and take lots of photos. We were there for three hours and could have spent more time with ease.

Overall, it's like a small village. I liked that each successive house becomes slightly more modern. There are various animals and vehicles from that time. But the most interesting thing is that the village workers seem to live here. You can see them having lunch or working on sewing machines from that era. In general, it shows how many tools from different times used to work and how they evolved over time. In each house, there's a village representative who tells about the house and what people were doing during that time.

On the village grounds, there are a couple of souvenir shops. They are special because some products are made right in the village, with workers showcasing their craft during presentations. For example, barrels, shoes, towels, etc.

Regarding relaxation, there's a restaurant in the style of that time. The menu is limited to 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. However, it's very quick and delicious. There's also a more modern café in the central building and an establishment with snacks and drinks in the village itself.

Overall, highly recommended, especially if you have children.

What a fantastic way to spend a day. Beautiful grounds! Awesome restaurant on-site with authentic French Canadian style food. We learnt a lot about the Acadian History. Highly recommended!

This is one of the best open air, interactive history experiences anywhere. Highly recommended. The onsite hotel was also an enjoyable experience.

Super intéressant, vraiment très bien fait, ultra authentique, on a tellement aimé, qu'on retourne demain. Le bracelet est valide pour deux visites dans les 5 jours après l'achat.

Un des plus beau parc thématique. Si vous voulez voir des bâtiments d'époque de 1773 à 1944, près de 171 ans d'histoire, il faut voir ça. Il y a de tout. Entrepôt, magasin général, menuiserie, taverne, forge, chapelle, cimetière, école, moulin à farine, imprimerie, gare, tonnelerie, moulin à bois, garage Irving Oil, ferblantier, cordonnerie et plusieurs sites où on peut manger. Tout cela avec des personnages vêtus de l'époque. Mais ce qui est le plus beau de l'affaire est que l'on vous raconte l'histoire de la vie de ce temps. Ne vous gêné surtout pas à poser des questions car ce sont des gens bien informés. Il y a aussi de la culture sur place et des animaux comme des chèvres, moutons, coq, poules, boeufs, cochons et des lapins. Un vrai beau site d'histoire. Il y a aussi un hôtel pour y passer la nuit.

Visite recommandée à tout prix! Le village est magnifique, authentique et éducatif. Les informations données par les acteurs sont vérifiées par un historien afin d'être le plus exact a l'époque et l'endroit possible. Un véritable voyage dans le temps!

Loved visiting this place. I found it very interesting and will certainly go back again. Well worth your time to look back in time and see a little of the past.

Une super belle visite! Des gens extraordinaires qui nous font découvrir le village avec des histoires captivantes, le soucie de parlé en français ou en anglais selon les visiteurs. Nous en avons appris beaucoup sur comment les habitants confectionnaient leurs vêtements ou couvertures, de la culture jusqu’au résultat final! Le restaurant dans le village vaut le détours car c’est savoureux!

De tout les endroits visiter depuis bien des années, c'est celui avec le meilleur rapport qualité/prix/durée que l'on a visité, vraiment très intéressant et très instructif, très interactif avec tout les "citoyens" nous racontant leurs "vies" dans ces temps, c'est à voir ABSOLUMENT!

Vraiment très beau à visiter et très instructif. Les comédiens qui jouaient les rôles des personnages d’antan étaient parfaits. Ils connaissent très bien leur histoires.

We planned on walking through this in half a day or so and instead spent SIX wonderful hours wandering around! It is a huge site, but so well organized with bathrooms, sitting and food stops along the way. It is a walking or scooter intensive site.
Each person in their own character was wonderful. Most knew incredible details about so many different aspects of their house/market and could tell beautiful stories. We learned so much about the Acadian people through time and it was an incredible experience! Definitely give yourself enough time to do this properly.
The MOST impressive part of this entire experience was the live demonstrations of old fashioned techniques. This site is self-sustaining - they make they’re own butter, cookies, doilies, dishcloths, mocassins and buckets (etc). INCREDIBLE!

Beaucoup aimé dans chaque maison un accueil chaleureux histoire de chaque maison et de ceux qui les ont habités très intéressants

This was fun. Lots of things to see and costumed performers to talk to. The village progresses through time so you see how life changed over the course of time. Lunch in town was amazing!

I was disappointed, we decided to go there on a promotion coupon but then I had to go through lots of extra step to get it approved. The first lady at the boot was rude, good thing she went away as the second lady was more helpful. Then once inside the atmosphere was dull, you could not go inside most of the buildings, you had to peek in the doorway of the buildings. None of the buildings were operating. We had gone there two years ago and really enjoyed our visit. We were able to go inside the buildings which most time were fully functional. We had a feeling of going back in time. They have lost interaction with the visitors.

Magnifique hôtel, un vrai retour dans le temps. Grande chambre avec lit confortable, très, très propre. Petit déjeuner inclus très bon! Personnel d'une gentillesse incroyable. La terrasse aux deuxième un must après un belle journée aux Village Historique.

This was so worth it. Beautiful place, very authentic. Fantastic staff. Very friendly and welcoming. You learn A LOT through your discussions with the people there. Amazing! If you are around here you should absolutely come visit. I would recommend to go before noon in order to have enough time to wander all around the village, talk with everyone and make some shopping at the store!

En juillet, nous avons passé deux jours dans ce lieu historique précieusement conservé selon des critères rigoureux et respectueux de l'Histoire. On y retrouve des Acadiens fiers et heureux de partager avec leurs visiteurs le savoir de leurs ancêtres, et ce, dans une langue française savoureuse à souhait par son vocabulaire et son sympathique accent. À voir absolument, lentement, et en portant attention aux détails ainsi qu'aux récits savoureux de ses habitants temporaires.

Une vraiment superbe expérience. Beaucoup à voir et apprendre! Authentique! Beaucoup d'effort a été mis dans ce village et l'expérience qu'on y vit. On aimerait bien revenir au NB pour y retourner, et on apportera d'autre monde. Merci! On recommande à tous!

Wonderful outing in a magical place where time is recreated and reenacted by those in full costume. They were completely at ease, friendly and very informative. It was mostly in French, but if you ask they are fully bilingual and they will explain in english too. Would love to come back to visit.
