Had the Pork Belly dish, the chef did a fabulous job. The server was extremely attentive. The food was very reasonably priced and had generous portions. Tried their beefeater blood orange drink was fantastic.y first time dinning inside and I’ll be sure to come back!

Delicious food with quite ample portions! Fantastic accommodations for vegetarian and vegan guest. Highly recommend and will definitely return in future!

Had a great meal at Saltwater! The food was delicious, and the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. One of our favorites and we'll definitely be back.

The fry oil seem to us as it hasn’t been changed in a while but the lobster roll, shrimp risotto and full lobster were delicious

Beautiful food and excellent service on an impromptu night out with no reservations. We just ate at the bar but the food and service was excellent.

Okayyyy, this restaurant is. Great atmosphere. Our server recommended the bruschetta and it was absolutely to die for. I've never had such delicious bruschetta before! I had the seafood chowder, and while it was quite tasty my only criticism is that it didn't have a variety of seafood in it (no mussels or shrimp, just white fish which I'm assuming was cod), so it should be called cod chowder instead. The food is on the more expensive end, but I would definitely recommend.

Great service, food was amazing. Good selection of drinks as well, lots of local craft beer available.

A small menu is normally an indicator that the dishes on it will be of superior quality. While I cannot say anything was bad, the only things that really stood out were the pasta acadiana, the pork belly, the dessert, and the incredible service from Megan (even if she did slightly exaggerate how good the tiramisu was). Might just have been an off night for the kitchen, especially with my steak which was inconsistently seared and not trimmed properly, but we will be back if only for the level of service Megan provides.

Wow! The most excellent chowder, cod tacos and an overabundance of mussels! All amazingly delicious!

We had the lobster rolls. Were good. Buns were delicious and heated properly. Basalmic glaze was added to the plate for aesthetics but it made the lobster rolls hard to eat - kept getting vinegar on our hands!

Came here for lunch. Had a fantastic meal- including a delicious lobster roll! The food was fresh, delicious, and the view was also quite nice onto one of the main streets of St. John's. Staff were very friendly as well.

Order the pasta, but avoid the lobster. Apparently lobsters are as popular in St John’s as they are in Vancouver — I just wish I knew that before I ordered the lobster pasta.
The pasta itself was ridiculously delicious, and I have to say that I enjoyed it much more than the lobster.

Me and my family ate at Saltwater for our stay in St. John’s. Our server, Angelina, was super accommodating and very sweet! We wanted a table outside, so we looked over the menu and had drinks inside while we waited. We were promptly offered a table outside when it became available. Our food was absolutely incredible. My salmon was cooked to perfection- the skin was crispy and the flavour was amazing. Even the vegetables tasted great and were prepared with care. My mother and father had the steak and lamb, which they both also spoke very highly of. Would definitely recommend to anyone in St.john’s looking for a good place to eat that isn’t a pub/kid friendly lol:)

Definitely not the experience we were expecting. It has been awhile since we were at Saltwater - we were last there in 2013 at the old location and it was excellent. It was a very different experience this time.
Service was extremely slow, especially given that there were only a few other tables that were occupied. Just over an hour before we got the one appetizer that we shared between 2 of us. Our mains left a lot to be desired. The cod was very undercooked and the salmon was just “fine”. This was after witnessing multiple dishes going to wrong tables over and over, and then when ours finally arrived the server announced our gluten free salmon dish (we are not gluten free).
The whole evening felt very chaotic and disorganized even though it did not seem busy at all.
Our server was very kind and apologetic, she did it take the cod off of our bill.
Overall, it was very disappointing and hopefully just a very “off” night for the staff/restaurant.

Had a horrible lunch at Saltwater today. It really doesn't deserve one star but I had to choose it in order to post this review. We are visiting here and had our hearts set on a lobster roll sandwich so we went to Saltwater. The best word I can use to describe our server was "surly. " She was unfriendly and seemed annoyed
by our presence. We ordered our much-anticipated lobster roll which came with a small side of fries for $26.99. We waited much too long (about 40 minutes) for our order, only to be greatly disappointed when it finally arrived. The amount of lobster in each was miniscule. Each bun contained exactly 4 small pieces of lobster, approximately 1 square inch a piece. When we inquired if this was the normal portion the server said she would check with the kitchen. Five to ten minutes later she reappeared with a small dish of extra lobster which was a bit of an improvement, but from my enjoyment of other lobster rolls in Boston and Prince Edward Island, hardly made up for what a lobster roll should be. When I paid by debit card, the server hovered uncomfortably over me while I made my payment and watched carefully when the option to enter a tip came up. I asked her to come back when I was finished but she stated she needed to wait for the debit machine and continued to stand there watching. A very poor ending to a very poor lunch.

Very disappointed despite some good reviews. The food was bland and therefore not very tasty. The bill was overpriced considering we did not have any alcohol. I doubt we'd go back.

Ate here the other night, the food was phenomenal. They do staple foods but in a high end way. I had the Chicken Amaretto, the chicken was tender, the sauce was delicious, overall a fantastic meal. The server was also very friendly, helpful and nice!
Will be back again!

We had a wonderful experience. Russell was our server and let me say he is truly an asset to your establishment. So attentive and helpful. He went above and beyond and so knowledgeable regarding the menu as well. It was a pleasure to have him as our server. The BEST service I ever received in a restaurant.
Oh and the food was great too!:) Bravo Saltwater, we will be back.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Saltwater.

The seafood risotto was excellent! My wife enjoyed the cod dish she ordered.

The service was also excellent and all servers were hustling to provide prompt service.

The food here was excellent! We ate here last night and sat on the patio which had a lovely vibe. The food itself was very good - my wife had seafood risotto. I make risotto at home and have had it many times including in Italy - I thought this risotto was really excellent by comparison. I had chili and parmesan cream fetuccini with a half lobster and it was also amazing. The texture of the pasta was great, the sauce very flavorful and of course the NL lobster was delicious. My parents had the crusted cod - can't go wrong with NL cod. Overall, the food here was really top notch and I really enjoyed my drink. The only downside right now is that with a VERY busy post-lockdown come home year every location in town is completely slammed. The restaurant was packed and so service was a bit on the slower side - luckily the evening was beautiful so it wasn't much trouble.

Lobster was on the menu. Baked Brie appetizer was excellent. As it was two couples celebrating anniversary we we were treated to a special dessert that was fabulous. Only minor issue is that there service was a bit slow, but they have a small kitchen for preparation. Be patient, the wait is worth it.

I've been to most of the good quality restaurants in St. John's. Saltwater has the best food out of all of them.

Fantastic service. I avoided this restaurant for a while because it always seemed empty but it was actually very good. I was planning to order a few vegetarian appetizers with the full understanding that this is a seafood restaurant, but the menu had changed and they didn't have any. The server and chef enthusiastically offered to make me a veggie dish to order and served me a delicious stuffed pepper. My friend had great things to say about her seafood plate.

Fine dining that doesn’t hurt the wallet keeps us coming back. Diverse selection of apps and entrees.

Great service and atmosphere! Food was very good but steak was not as tasty as I would have liked.

It was fabulous! An amazing meal with made to order cherry compote for my turkey dinner. And this was no ordinary turkey dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving. Amazing service and wonderful hospitality.

Lamb was great. Seafood was bland. However they took that away and replaced with salmon which was great and compted the desert. Desert was fantastic. Atmosphere was great.

Bad service, over cooked food and high prices. They need to overhaul how they serve people and food.

Food was great and Agelina was an amazing server. Positive attitude, hard working and a friendly smile.

Seated right away, however drink order took long, they were out of specials only 2 hours after opening. Food took over 1 hour to come and when it arrived.some of the food was no longer hot. Tasty but wouldn’t go back.

Terrible service, kitchen seemed unable to cope with the Saturday night rush - meals came incomplete, Cod was so overcooked was inedible.

Although the food was good pepper and salt grinders were filled with already grinded salt and pepper. Killed my chicken with salt. Atmosphere was cold and not intimate. Happy hour and appetizers discount did not pertain to the dining room. All meals came with mashed potatoes, lamb, chicken, steak. Potatoes, mussels, chicken, seafood, lamb were better than good.

Atmosphère correcte, carte réduite, service correcte, bouffe excellente et bien présentée, prix un peu élevé, pour nous ça été 226$, entrée, vin, plat principal, dessert, café et pourboire.

Great food, best staff I ever saw at a restaurant and prices are not too expensive and definitely worth it!

Food was delicious, server very informative and friendly. Atmosphere was elegant casual and welcoming. Would definitely eat here again.

For the travelers. This place is above average to the locals. If your from abroad then this place is a below average dining experience.

We had steamed mussels, seafood fettuccine (the day’s special), and Greek salad and they were all very good. I’ve had steamed mussels in many different places and this one was probably the best. Mussels were so fresh, and seasoning was not strong but just enough. Their brunch menu were not very expensive and totally worth it. We were very happy customers.

This cozy place offers a casual atmosphere and friendly service, but really shines in the food. From the somewhat limited menu, you wouldn't guess that their food is much different from other restaurants in the area, but what they offer, they do extremely well, and it was easily some of the best food I've had in St. John's.
