Abercrombie Animal Hospital

Our newborn puppy was in distress and it was decided by the on call triage assistant that he needed to be seen asap. The vet met me right away despite not being our regular vet and did a long and thorough assessment. After quite some time she told me she could keep him for assessment but his crisis appeared over and the best place for him was with his mom. We went home and he settled after one more episode and has been fine ever since. The vet was excellent and I highly recommend the Abercrombie Animal Hospital.

Sorry just one star! Rude and unhelpful. We are on vacation and our dog got an ear infection. Ended up driving an 1: 45 to Halifax. God forbid if it were life and death!

These guys are amazing! I've been going here for the better part of a decade, I'll never go to another vet again. They are so great with dogs in particular, you can tell they truly care about the animals.

Our kitten hurt her paw today and was bleeding pretty bad. We immediately called Abercrombie and they said absolutely take her in we’ll have her seen when we can. A few hours later she has antibiotics all cleaned up and back to herself! Can’t thank Dr Hodder enough ️

Because we have our kitten through a local rescue, she was already pre registered at this vet. Our regular vet is in Truro as when we moved no local vets were taking new patients. However they said not a problem and took all our second cats information and registered him after asking about it! Because we already have the kitten there, it was not a problem at all. Such a huge relief having a vet close to home, just incase. Again thank you to the lovely workers and the amazing doctor.

Refuse to speak you about your animal unless you bring it in so they can charge you a check up fee and other fees regardless. Very disappointing

They truly care about animals. Without hesitation she took in my sick older dog when I was evacuating from hurricane Fiona. She kept him until it was safe for me to return. They gave him the best chance to recover and provided me with peace of mind during a stressful time. Thank you so much!

I wanted a fecal test done on my cats, however it was not in two visits ever preformed. My past experience is that this is a prime tool in diagnosis. The staff was very friendly and accomadated us by allowing an emergency visit. I felt a bit intimidated by the pressure to surrender one of my kittens on the spot.

Friendly staff, very welcoming as we went in, vet was super friendly and treated our cat as if it was her own. Definitely recommend

I needed to get my cat in for an emergency back in February, they told me they had nothing till April. I ended up having to take him to Truro. Most vets have emergency slots for times like these and I was deeply disappointed when they didn’t take him. Later in April there was a snow storm and I couldn’t get him to a near vet till the next day in Truro and he passed away due to crystals forming during that last visit and this one. Would have been nice to be able to go somewhere local and not be immediately refused, I don’t think that’s right at all! I’ll be going to Truro for good, they actually accept emergency calls and have slots in the morning.

Friendly staff, great care offered. Only issue is they're short staffed and over worked. If you're worried about your pets health, these are the people I trust.

They had what I needed for tick prevention. The staff is efficient and kind. The Doctor was quick to get to her patients and respectful of the owners and pet.

Dr Kelly is amazing. She has such a kind way with animals. They have always taken my animals in no matter what time it was. I would never go anywhere else. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I am new to the area and this place came highly recommended from a family member. I unfortunately had to put my cat who was 19 to sleep due to health issues and was dealt with no compassion or customer service when calling or during drop off. I had tears in my eyes and the young woman on the desk was stone cold and couldn't careless. (She was the one who always answered the phone.she needs yo find a new career.) Due to Covid 19 they only have drop off service which is understandable but I left there more upset in every way then I had arrived. I called once I got home and asked to speak with the owner/manager, I was told she was in surgery and she will call me back. 4 hours later i call back and was told she didnt call me because she didnt know what i wanted. So i explained how everything went with the other coworker and hung up. No call back. I didnt even get a call letting me know if my cat had been put to sleep yet or not so I needed to ask during that phone call. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND GOING TO THIS VET. GO TO ANOTHER ONE. Unless you dont care about compassion, customer service and your pet.

I will continue to drive an hr to this vet as it is obvious they're there for the animals.thank you

So great! The staff and vet were kind and very knowledgeable. The vet did a very thorough exam on our adopted pupper and was so great to answer our questions and explain things to us.

Great experience with my 2 small dogs. Vet was patient and gentle with my old boy and girl.

Dr. Hotter is the best, our small dog took to her and he is afraid of a lots of people, due to being a resque dog.

Love how the vet sat on the floor with my dog to make him comfortable and less anxious. He was all checked out and had a hotspot cleaned up without even realizing it.

They took my pit bull as soon as I walked in helped my tazzy looked for more ticks gave him his meds today he's happy as a clam ty so much I will return

DO NOT GO HERE. Took our cat in to be fixed, ended up paying just over 1300 dollars and had to go to another vet office to make sure that she was treated with any sort of dignity and respect as a result of pure incompitance.to go into detail we were NOT notified before bringing in our cat for her surgery that they had been dealing with alot of very sick animals over the last few weeks and that they were contagious, instead they chose to tell us that there was no sick animals that she could have come into contact with when the vets secretary told us the complete opposite. On Saturday evening we had to call an after hour line to have our kitten looked at because she would not stop vomiting pain meds were given along with an xray and an anti nausea shot. 24 hours later she started vomiting again we took her back to the abercrombie vet office where she had her surgery and we were told that they would like to monitor her overnight.to which we were fine with.the next morning I am told that she had spiked a fever and did not eat anything all night, I am told that once again they just want to monitor her no treatment had been given. I then call another vet to seek a second opinion.and I was told to bring her in asap so they can start assesing her properly with blood work, urinalysis, and put her on a iv drip and anti biotics once they find out what exactly is wrong. I then go back to inform the vet of the secondary info i was given and was given nothing but attitude and was told that they want to use iv fluids and blood work as a last resort, I was shocked to hear that and needless to say took our kitten to the east side animal hospital and after 2 days of being in a proper vet clinic and being on anti biotics and a IV drip she is now fine from an infection that she had one hundred percent recieved from the filthy abercrombie animal hospital.do not take your animal to the Abercrombie vet it is sickening to see that they would rather make 150 dollars versus Informing pet owners that there could be a risk of their animal becoming sick because she will be around contagious animals

We moved here from way out west and wanted to find a good vet for our dogs so we took a chance. We brought our dog in last saturday cause she wasnt herselve. Apparently all they did was poke and prod her thats it. They never did xrays or blood work which they should of done. All they did was put her on IV and went home for the night. We got a call sunday morning that she had PASSED away. NO ONE was with her through the night at all. RIDICULOUS. If some one was there through the night with my little girl I know for a fact she be still with us today.
Im wondering how many other animals were there through the night with no staff working.
We are pretty upset with the situation no staff was working to keep an eye on her. As I said RIDICULOUS.
