Antigonish Victorian Inn

We enjoyed our stay, it's not a complaint, more of a heads up to future patrons. You can hear the people about walking around, also if you stay at the front of the building, the spot lights are bright, even with the blinds. Let me be clear, we did enjoy our stay, great place to lay your head. Friendly staff, conveniently located, you can most places. A great restaurant across the street

The place was gorgeous, affordable, and comfy. The staff was great and discrete. They even took care of the snow on my car. 10/10 would recommend to friends & family.

BUYER BEWARE. We booked a room here for a night in September, but cancelled our stay 2 months prior to that through their website. On the day of our planned stay, my credit card was hit for the charge. When I called to dispute, the man was rude, barely spoke English, and said they had no record of the cancellation. Then the texts started, saying how they are a business and absolutely must charge. I had to tell him to stop texting me. Once home, I scanned and emailed the printout I had, showing the cancellation. No response whatsoever. BE VERY CAREFUL MAKING A RESERVATION HERE!

Loved this property! Absolutely beautiful! Stayed in the Library room and Queen Anne room. Loved the old creeky floors and retro decor! Fabulous friendly staff and the breakfast much appreciated! Very tasty! Beautiful grounds! Will definitely be back again!

We did not like having our private bathroom across the hall from our room. The room itself was sparse - no table or amenities.
Breakfast was bland, eggs were oily and coffee was bitter.
A nice little spot, but needs some improvements before i would stay there again.

Sadly, this property is tired and in need of refresh. We stayed one night in a third floor room with private bathroom, and while it was inexpensive, we were hoping for a bit more. There was mold around base of shower door and some repairs were needed; the bathroom and bedroom were spartan (very basic) with cheap / minimal appointments (no facial tissue in bathroom; very small / cheap towels; no bedside table on one side of bed). In addition, the owners have chosen to skimp on the food (cheap store brand products; small portions, some pre-cooked). Overall, a disappointing experience in what could otherwise be (with some TLC) a grand property.

The room is clean and the decor is nice. Breakfast is also included. However, the private bathroom is not inside the hotel room that we stayed in. It’s right across the hallway which is not convenient and unexpected. It was not stated clearly online at the time we booked the hotel. If we know beforehand, we would have book a different room with the bathroom inside it.

We really enjoyed staying here. Although we checked in late, our hosts were very accomodating. It was very comfortable and homey!

Great place to stay. Everything within walking distance. Fantastic breakfast. Grab lunch or dinner across the street.

Great looking house with beautiful Victorian style rooms but that is where the positive ends.

No amenities at all on the property nor in the room (no plates, coffee, etc.) Extremely bare room, large yet so empty.

Moreover, it was advertised that breakfast was included but for some reason at the counter they said it would be an extra. Terrible false-advertising that would make me recommend you book somewhere else except if you TRULY want to book this place for the decor.

Overall 2/5, little comfort with cheap towels, pillows and sheets as well.

We only stayed one night, which is why I can’t say much about service; we checked in late and they were accommodating to us. We stayed in the garden suite in the back and it was amazing! The bed was so comfortable and we slept very very well. If we had a reason to be in the area longer, I would definitely stay there for multiple nights. We are in our late 20s and feel this may be over seen by some younger people but it’s worth the stay. Very good breakfast that was provided as well!

We wanted to spend one night in Antigonish. This is an old property with a lot of character. The service was excellent. Our room was on the top floor. I only wish that we had brought a lighter suitcase.

It was clean, not spotless. And beware of ants on the third floor. They look like potential carpenter ants…

It helps to have someone from the area that speaks better English to inform you of things close by and tell you about the experiences you could have as a tourist to an area. Not check you in, wave a key at you and leave never to be seen again.

Bacon and eggs, no hash browns and no hot sauce. But better then continental!

Cheap pillows and light blankets made for a colder, uncomfortable sleep.

The Antigonish Victorian Inn is in a great location - on the main downtown strip of Antigonish. Check in and check out were really easy. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom was clean. Temperature control was really good. The downsides are that you must use stairs to get to your room and if you're on the top floor, the second set of stairs is quite narrow. Also the room I had did have a private bathroom but it was located across the hallway - it wasn't a part of the room. It's also the first place I've stayed during this trip that didn't have any refrigeration available to guests. The bathroom also had some leftover garbage in the bin and some stray hairs in the corner. The shower was also tiny. All that being said, I would stay here again in a pinch.

Note that I've posted this same review on the site where I booked the hotel and the property manager has responded positively.
