Backoos Korean To Go Food

Definitely not authentic Korean.
Their Japchae is mediocre - zero vegetable, very sweet, and topped with something that looked like a canned corned beef. Their ribs are so dry it’s like the ribs were pre boiled a few days ago then seasoned with sauce when the order came in. Way too expensive for the quality of their food.
Nothing good to say about this restaurant.
Hope this review helps them improve their menu.

Would not recommend. Ordered takeout which took an hour to arrive (unsure if this was due to the restaurant or delivery service). The chicken was so dry and hard I could not put a fork in it and had to saw through it aggressively with a knife. Rice seemed old. Very disappointing experience. Not worth it even for the good prices.

Food was unfortunately not as good as it looked on the website. Dishes were very oily and beef tasted strangely sour.

We went to Halifax 3 weeks ago and were craving Korean food after having eaten seafood the first two days. We chose this place since it had good reviews but quite frankly it was not well deserved based off the experience we had.
Service was lacking. The lady at the cash didn't event greet us. Food was also served in a take out container even if you're dining in. Water is also self serve.
They didn't have the item I wanted so we only ended up ordering the bulgogi rice bowl. The dumplings were good, rice was a bit hard but since the dish was so oily, it soften it up. The onion to beef ratio was about 80: 20. It also didn't really taste like a regular bulgogi dish and I've been to many Korean restaurants. Def was a bit disappointed.

If I could give zero stars I would. With all these glowing reviews I thought it be decent food. Ordered the pork cutlet bowl. It was bland, dry, and over cooked rice. No flavour what so ever.what waste of 20 bucks

Chicken was dry, stringy and hard. Unfortunately I spent around $35 and couldn’t even eat half of the order. Won’t order again or recommend to others.

Food tasted good (don’t get me wrong), however, there are still better korean food in the city, hence the 3 stars.

Fried chicken was good, however, it’s not as crispy compared other Korean restaurants. Kimchi fried rice was a bit lacking of richness in kimchi taste.

Ordered the ultimate box! So much good chicken fresh and hot. Though i wish the salad and pickles were bigger as its kind of a meal for 4 and the sides are kind of small along side it all. Each flavor is so good its kind of hard to choose which is best. Fantastic chicken wish they were closer to home!

Got take out snack and walked approx 15 mins to water front to enjoy it. The chicken bits was still crispy on the outside. Size was pretty good and can be shared by 2 people.

Food is good but I would always get takeout rather than eat in as the space inside is limited.
The staff are friendly and very good to help you with figuring out what you would like to order.

They won't accept orders from Uber Eats when you have a coupon code or any discount. Pretty bad business for any restaurant trying to survive during these times. I have never seen a business that doesn't want to make money. Good luck!

The food is exceptional! Fast service, friendly staff! You have to try it we will be ordering again and again.

So, this one in Halifax is a little rough looking inside with boxes decorating part of the restaurant, but their food is still good. I got the cup dak with some soy garlic sauce. I still find the sauce expensive at $2.30 after tax, but it really augments the flavour of the chicken.

The cup dak is a good price if you just want a small meal, and the chicken is nice and crispy!

Half and half chicken with soy garlic and onion mustard will send you to heaven. Super unique super delicious, best fried chicken in town hands down!

Huge portions, friendly staff and was prepared super quick. I don’t even like Asian cuisine but this was truly GOOD

Ordered delivery. Korean food is my favorite. I lived in Korea for six years. I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant and will never order from there again.

Best korean fried chicken, sauces are delicious. We ordered the Bk ultimate chicken box. Staff was very friendly. Giving four stars just because the dumplings were a little cold.

Frequented this establishment during my student years. I have always had wonderful service and the food has always come out hot and delicious. If you have a low spice tolerance I would be careful of what you order.

Wrong order (they gave us original instead of soy garlic). That wasn’t a big deal at first until I realized the original is very bland. Basically half batter and not much taste. I love fried chicken in any style but they dropped the drumstick.

Never got to try the food. I was in Halifax for the day and was looking forward to trying the food here as it was one of the reasons for being in Halifax. They were closed. No updates on Facebook with it being closed, no sign on the door, no message on phone when trying to call to see if they were going to open at all that day, nothing! Why post hours when you don't work those hours? ! It's irritating especially when you don't even live in the area and were looking forward to trying the food. I even wasted some time around this area to see if they were just late opening or post updated hours for that day.

The dak gang jung, tonkatsu, and bul gogi were very good

The cheese bul dak was moderately spicy (too much so for my brother and his girlfriend)

The best fried chicken I've had outside of Taiwan.
No matter what I order off the menu I'm always pleasantly surprised forget KFC and get your chicken here

Friendly staff. Stopped in beacause I was looking for a quick bite to take back to the hotel. Food was pretty good but didn't realize that my plate didn't include veggies. Certainly would stop by again and try something new.

Ordered the bulgogi, which was quite tasty. It was hard to believe that the small container of meat with nothing else was almost 30.00. Disappointed in value for food. The description said it served 2 people: (

Not that bad of fried chicken. But it's not at the level of korean fried chicken's crispiness. Fried chicken is fine but the rice dish with boneless chicken is awful. Sauce was awesome but the chicken was very stiff. -1 star and rice was the kind you would make fried rice with. Another -1 for tasteless rice.

I missed Korean chicken and it tasted very good. I ordered one whole chicken and asked them to make very spicy. Later I ate chibab (chicken +rice). Two thumbs up.

Kimchi fried rice is on point- good mix of spice and crunch of the kimchi, and a generous quantity of food. Have had it twice now and it’s consistently tasty.

Only thing I would suggest is switching to compostable containers for the food.

I ordered BK chicken and I felt like chicken was too dry. And they wrote The chicken comes dumpling but there weren't. Smth strange one.

Really good price for Korean BBQ. The chicken is spicy, but not too spicy to eat. The chicken can be a little dry some times, but is typically on point. Love the addition of a tater tots combo plate as the rice can be bland. I am excited to come again and try both the pork and the beef.

Incredible. First time to try Korean food, we weren’t quite sure how or what to order manager/owner came over to our table was super friendly and suggested things he thought we would like, he actually ordered for us. What an amazing feast we had. There were 4 of us and a baby, we had the whole chicken, noodles, rice dish that was unbelievable and dumplings. Our order was perfect we ate everything. Can’t wait to go back. It is quite small inside I quess most people order out but wherever you eat go there you will not be disappointed.

Chicken is delicious, maybe best I've had, spices are spot on.
Sides could improve a bit, more veggies wouldn't hurt.

I had half soy sauce fried chicken. The sauce was not bad but the quality of chicken was the worst i have had. I couldn’t even bite. I guess the half chicken was not proper portion for half. They tricked that gave half chicken. You could only find wing and leg for half chicken.except two pieces, there were only crumb and tough chicken. I was really disappointed and it is the worst korean chicken. Good luck guys.

The food here is excellent! I tried the dumplings, Bi Bim Bab and TonKatsu. They were all delicious especially the chicken in the TonKatsu. It was massive for the cheap price and tasted fantastic with just the right amount of bite.

Great for lunch. The fried chicken could be better though, It's still good. *Edit: Down to 3 stars, the price is no longer affordable, $5 bibimbap WAS the best in town.
