Baddeck Lobster Suppers

Can't recommend this place enough! The portions you get for the price you pay is very good value. And the food is amazing quality! You can tell that they actually make their crab and lobster fresh, unlike other restaurants in the area that reheat from frozen. Great selection of Nova Scotia wines! The potato salad was the best I've ever had! I don't even normally like potato salad, but this was made with whole small potatoes and fresh herbs and an in house made dressing. I'm going to dream about that potato salad. I had the crab supper, I was so full but I kept eating mussels anyway because their mussels were delicious! In addition, you can tell all the staff are happy and care a lot about what they are doing. This businesses owned by a local family and hires people within the local community. When you eat here, you're supporting a community effort. Which is very important to me, as post-pandemic a lot of restaurants have been bought up by people who don't even live in the communities that keep them afloat.

The service is outstanding. The food is absolutely delicious. This little gem should be a required stop for everyone passing through town. The hardest part of your visit will be choosing from the menu. Meals are served in a timely manner, cooked to perfection. The steak is highly recommended.

Excellent! Fair prices, Great food. Arrived when they opened at 4pm. 15 people waiting for it to open on a weekday. Wife had lobster, I had the maple salmon. Me, Blueberry crisp for dessert. Her, apple crisp. Floated out full and happy.

Fantastic deal for the ayce mussels and chowder. Crab legs were fantastic, and I prefer the sweeter taste to lobster. The mains also come pre cracked for an easier time. Dessert options were plentiful and portions were large

Chaudrée et moules à volonté suivi du repas de homard, crabe, saumon ou steak au choix et plusieurs choix de dessert maison. What an amazing meal! We had all you can eat snow crab dinner. Just the mussels and the chowder are all you can eat. Everything was perfect. Service was amazing. Sarah was extremely nice and showed us traditional East coast hospitality. Had a nice conversation with the Chef by the fire while he was cooking salmon on cedar planks. I'll be back for sure. I have 30 years experience in the food industry from dishwasher to chef and food safety specialist. I've worked in various places in Europe and in Canada. It was clean and well maintained. If you're looking for a traditional meal made perfectly this is the place! Thank you for a great night out! Get there early as it gets full fast!

The steak was over cooked, I ordered medium and got very well done. They hid the burnt part toward the plate. We got the end of the striploin that was full of gristle. But the taste was good and the meat with no gristle was tender.

The crab was good, the butter dishes were too small to dip the meat. Extra butter is available so not a big deal.

The biggest complaint is the hot humid room that is very loud, called the dining room. The ac doesn't seem to be turned on. The room is an open square that is difficult to have a conversation in because it is so loud.

The best part is the staff. They are very friendly.

What stood out the most was the service. As a foodie and a traveler, I've been to many many restaurants and I can safely say that this place was in the top 5 for best service. They were warm, inviting and friendly while being professional as well. They were also kindly accommodating and thoughtful. I was a solo diner. Not only were they not dismissive of me and treat me like a waste of a table because I was alone and especially considering they were insanely busy, they made sure I was at a lovely two top table with a beautiful view of the water. No rushing and wonderful service throughout.
I loved the simple and specialized menu. The prices were reasonable and the food itself was absolutely scrumptious. You could tell that the seafood was fresh from the ocean.
When I arrived they had a line up of waiting customers, but it wasn't too long of a wait. This is a popular restaurant with the locals but also very popular with tourists. If you know you're going to go, I would recommend making a reservation if you can.
All in all, this is a must "stop and taste" on the Cabot Trail!

This was a fantastic dining experience. When a place is busy you know it will be good, but you also expect to wait a while to be served, not here. Here, the drinks, the amazing freshly caught and cooked food was served without too much delay and the waiting staff was wonderful. The combo supper was perfect in every way. We will be back again. Thank you everyone.

My cousin and I went for supper here yesterday. Man was I impressed. There was a bit of a wait to get seated but once we were it was smooth sailing. They brought a plate of tea biscuits, rolls and oat cakes to tide us over to the main event. We both had a cup of chowder which I'd say was the best I've ever had. Next time I'd get the bowl it was so good. Then came the steak. Perfectly cook and tender. Served with roasted baby potatoes, salad and some wonderful coleslaw. For dessert I had the blueberry crumble with ice cream and my cousin had coconut cream pie. Both were homemade and delicious and generous portions too. Our bill came to $92 for the two of us and we were stuffed. The service was great and we had a lovely table by the window. We got there for 4: 30 and there was a lineup already. But it's worth the wait. We will definitely go back. A restaurant that serves generous portions of excellent food is rare so it's no wonder this place is so popular.

This restaurant was spacious, well ventilated and offered nice viewd of the water. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations.
The chowder was quite good, with a lot of seafood. It is lighter as they use milk instead of cream. Mussels came in a generous serving, and were good but some of the mussels were a little gritty. The snow crabs were tender and sweet but again bland in flavour. Both lobsters were very tough and chewy- I nearly choked on the tail. It also did not smell or taste very fresh. We have had better lobster in every other lobster restaurant we have tried. For the price it was disappointing to say the least.

Ignore the bad reviews this place was top notch! Be sure to go early to get a table otherwise be prepared to wait a bit, but let me tell ya, it is worth the wait!

We elected to do the all you can eat options of clam chowder, mussels, lobster and crab.

Firstly, freshly made table bread and biscuits were to die for!

Hearty bowls of clam chowder were full of beautiful. Lots of clam, potatoes and not overly creamy which was a nice touch.

The mussels were huge and endless. We each had two heaping bowls, served with melted butter.

The whole lobster and crab entree came with a side salad, some cold potatoes and coleslaw and of course melted butter.

The all you can eat also came with a drink and a dessert. Honestly. Worth it in my opinion to get it and try a variety of menu items. We tried the lemon meringue pie, the coconut cream pie and the blueberry crumble (sorry, ate it before we could take photos!)

Serving staff was great and pleasant. Pricing was reasonable and slightly cheaper than other local restaurants in the area

Great job of explanation of the menu and how it all works. We had the salmon and accompanying sides. All excellent! We intend to return and try the lobster.

This place is great and well worth the short time we had to wait.the food was delicious and the service was excellent.very affordable too considering the high prices everywhere for fresh seafood dinners these days.

Amazing dinner. We ordered one of each main - lobster, crab, salmon and steak, along with a bowl of steamed mussels. All were delicious. The shellfish was all sweet and fresh, the steak tender and well grilled, and the salmon was also very satisfying (though skin was not scaled, and taste was maybe a little on the sweet side from the glaze and I was expecting a bit more smoke flavour from the fired plank but still really good). The small menu probably helps keep prices reasonable without much overhead and wasted inventory. Good management, focusing on quality over unnecessary variety, and I can see how it got its reputation. Nice job, guys!

Called ahead and asked if we needed a reservation to eat at their restaurant for the night and they said they didn't take reservations and if we just come in before they close that we would be seated no problem. Arrived later and the waitress said there was a list and if we where on it. We asked "what list? We called ahead and said you didn't take reservations". We said alright can be be put on this "not a reservation list" and she said no they where all booked up for the night. It sure sounded like they take reservations.

Disappointing. We showed up at 5: 30pm was told 30 mins to an hour wait. 45 mins later they told us we wouldn’t get in before 8 pm. They need to understand their capacity and let people know realistic wait times. This meant we couldn’t get into dinner anywhere else. Lost a nice night out on a short vacation.

The service was great but the food was mediocre. The mussels were steamed and plain, the cowder was watery and tasteless, the lobster was small, the salmon was great, and the coconut cream pie and key lime pie were both good. We went early and waited about 30 minutes, we had a window seat and noticed huge crowds outside. I'm not sure I'd wait to eat here again.

Reservierungen nur ab 6 Personen möglich. Wir waren bei Öffnung des Restaurants um 4 Uhr nachmittags da und hatten einen schönen Platz mit Blick aufs Wasser.

Can't say enough about this place! After a dismal experience at the Belle View the night before, this place was truly a breath of fresh air. Excellent service, attentive management, and exceptional seafood.
The "all you can eat" option is well priced and definitely the way to go for seafood lovers.
Please, please support this restaurant.

This place gets a lot of hype in all the tourist books. For $55 Canadian, you get all the seafood chowder you would want, all the steamed mussels you would want, and one of either a lobster (small one), salmon, snow crab, or a steak. You also get a dessert with it. They immediately bring out a basket of biscuits and oat cakes. I loved the oat cakes. The biscuits were underdone and doughy. The soup was fine, although nothing to write home about. We did not want a second bowl.

The first plate of mussels that they brought out had a ton of shells without the actual mussel meat inside. Our second try at the steamed muscles was better. There's not really a sauce with these, but they are very nice and fresh.

I was rather disappointed in my lobster. It was very small. It tasted fine, but was certainly not the freshest most recently cooked version of a whole lobster that I've eaten. Since I wanted to go there for the lobster, it left me rather disappointed. My husband got the snow crab which was actually quite delicious. He says it's a lot easier to eat, which is of course true. So if you go there, I would recommend the snow crab. You might also think about just getting a main course and a salad rather than the whole "All you can eat" opportunity. It's probably not worth the extra expense unless you really do eat a ton. There were several dessert choices, and my husband and I each got one of the two crisps. The filling in them was fine, but the topping was soggy and no sufficiently cooked. I found them to be quite a disappointment. So for the price, it was not a good deal.

In summary, the food is okay. It is certainly not worth the hype. Nor would I go there again if I was in Baddeck.

The best tasting seafood for the best deal out there. $55 for all-you-can-eat mussels and chowder, complimentary oat cookies and fresh bread, plus 1 seafood entree, tea/coffee and dessert per person? It literally cannot get better than that.

The Lobster is the freshest I ever are! The crabe was simple delicious! Excellent service!

The mussels were so good. Our server was super nice and attentive even though they got slammed shortly after we arrived.

This is the most recommended restaurant in Baddeck. We enjoyed our dinner. We had all you can eat mussels and seafood chowder. My husband had lobster. I had the snow crab. They were so good. Line up was very long though it took us 2 hours to wait in a rainy evening. It's very busy with tourist. We paid 150 for our dinner.

We had such a great experience here, the food was delicious.we got all you can eat, and the waitress didn't judge us with how many mussels and chowder we got.then the lobster main course was unreal, such a big sweet lobster and even had a few side salads so it felt well balanced dessert and coffee was awesome too, hardly had room for it. I'd highly recommend stopping!
