Balmoral Motel

Stopped at the restaurant for breakfast. Excellent service and the food was great. I didn't stay at the motel so no review for the rooms.

There were 8 of us that were at a cottage malagash for the weekend, and the power went went out Saturday afternoon. So Sunday we went there for breakfast

Quite and neat place. Convient and very accessible for the night stay while driving from NB to Cape Breton

Had lunch there. Service was slow, one person working no back up help.
Buns were hard, then rezapped in microwave, it didn't help.
Why are the people who run this place not out in front helping the wait staff?
Not impressed, won't go back. I got the feeling that they are operating on a shoestring.

What a place! You get a lot of room for a little price. I had a queen bed, nice sofa, coffee table, desk with office chair AND a breakfast table with 2 chairs all for 100 a night? Walking distance to almost anything in Tatamagouche. Walking trail in the back yard with a path to it. Good enough WiFi to stream movies. Couldn't have asked for more!

Although a motel, you've found a really great spot to stay the evening.
It's clean, has fantastic staff, reasonable prices, and a great restaurant.
It's located perfectly with access to all The Sunrise Trail has to offer.

We stayed at the Balmoral motel in Tamagouche on September 21st 2022 for one night. There was 4 of us We loved our room and the hotel. The breakfast the next morning was awesome. All the staff here were very accommodating and helped us so much as my cousin is in a wheelchair.
Big shout out to Pierre and Jeannie thank you both for all your help. I highly recommend this place. I'll be back.

Very friendly and helpful owners/staff, clean and safe accommodations, and a delicious breakfast.

Lovely people. Clean, efficient, block walk from downtown, grocery across street, path behind to river walkway to creamery & train.

Bon rapport qualité/prix. Petit déjeuner compris.
Personnel agréable et très sympathique.
Bien situé, tout se fait à pied.
Vu à l'arrière sur la rivière et passage par le bord de l'eau.

Stayed for 4 nights on the August long weekend. Very happy with everything - price, location, fridge in the room, ice bags, breakfast, air conditioning.

The rooms were clean and we had a really good experience.

Easy to walk around Tata and a beautiful trail out back.

Removed two stars because we stayed in the junior suite - which has a door that cannot be locked that opens into the hotel lobby. This made me uneasy thinking that while we slept someone could enter our room. If this issue was fixed, I would certainly have made a 5 star rating.

I had booked a room for December but had to cancel due to weather. I was upset that I was unable to cancel. I still needed to make the trip so decided to give them another shot. I was glad I did. They were very friendly. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The price was exceptional which included a hot breakfast. It is a true family operation. I would recommend for any traveler to the area.

Although this is an older motel the rooms were very clean. They have comfortable beds and plenty of towels in the rooms. They owner was a very nice lady, very accommodating. The price was very affordable. They had a room available last minute on a holiday weekend for us. The rooms had mini fridges and microwaves. They are also pet friendly as our two small dogs stayed with us. There was not AC in the rooms but there was a lovely breeze coming in the window so it wasn't needed. They also offer a free breakfast but we didn't take advantage of this so I don't know what was offered.

We have recently spent one night here. We were very happy with the large, very clean room. It offered everything we needed for our stay! We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast as well. It was delicious!

New owners are extremely friendly, and helpful. We will definitely return, hopefully for a longer stay.

My family’s cottage is down the street from the balmoral motel. We’ve rented rooms from this motel for years. My grandfather was an iron artist from Truro and he has pieces that he donated to this motel years ago. There are 3 pieces of his work displayed in the lobby. A few years back (with a different owner) my dad and uncles/aunt offered the owner money for the pieces (many times), and he refused for literally no reason. These pieces aren’t technically worth any money but they mean a lot to my dad and his brothers/sister. They all agreed that if whoever owned them really did love them, then they do want them somewhere they’re appreciated; if not with them. They tried many times to get those pieces, with no luck. Years later, I was excited to hear that there were new owners. Maybe they would have a heart about this situation? Not the case. These ones seemed even worse. We’ve all individually reached out to them during our stay (last weekend), about the pieces and how important they are to our family. They show no true interest in my grandfather or his work, I’m pretty sure they didn’t even know his name. But they just don’t want us to have them? They don’t seem to love the pieces at all, it just seems like they are trying to see how much money they can get us to offer them. Even the husband said to my brothers girlfriend (after she asked about them, said how truly important it is to our family and offered them $500), “how much do you think they’re worth? ”. I personally spoke to the wife about it, pleading that I would give her $500 right there and then for the pieces and she had zero empathy about the situation. She just said they would think about it and shrugged. They’re worth a lot to us, sentimentally; but no one else. We’ve all inquired separately and they just keep saying that they’ll think about it (we think maybe they’re trying to get the pieces appraised before they accept any of our offers?). I just think these people have no hearts. There was zero compassion for this situation. We’ve offered them up to $1000. I do not understand.
In the end, their motel was fine, no issues staying there but this review isn’t really about that. It’s more about the owners character and that I won’t be supporting this business anymore. The pieces belong with my family or at the very least, someone who actually cared about my grandfather & his work; but I know the owners of the balmoral are not the people that should have them.

Great mom and pop motel clean well priced great location breakfast included not just muffins and coffee. I wish the owners good luck in the future. We will return when we are in the area again. Stay here you won't be disappointed

Wow Bravo aux nouveau propriétaire qui remet tout ça à l'ordre. Très propre et quel bon déjeuner fait maison qui est inclus. A 5 minute de marché des restons et micro brasserie.

My mother and I love this place clean friendly and had extra touches to cater to the customers needs. Comfortable bed plenty of hot water. And felt like home. Affordable rates. This motel is a 5 star plus in my eyes. Staff and owners very friendly. Thank you to the staff and owner for an amazing experience
