Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar

The Jalapeno Melt burger at Bâton Rouge is a must-try! The burger is perfectly cooked and the combination of jalapeno and melted cheese gives it a delicious kick. Overall, Bâton Rouge is a fantastic restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommended!

Went to Baton Rouge for burger week with a couple of friends. I asked for no onions and mushrooms on my burger and the waitress said no problem. When my burger was delivered to my table, there were onions and mushrooms on it so I had to pick them off. Both my friend’s burger and my burger were overcooked. Beyond that, it nothing more than an ordinary burger you could get anywhere. There was no jalapeño taste to the cheese sauce; it was quite bland. The truffles fries weren’t great either; there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the fries bowl. The only saving grace of the evening was the calamari and the friendliness of our waitress. But overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Great service and atmosphere. Their food is not too bad. We had their burger and it was awesome.

Insultingly small side portions, and the steak was over cooked and under seasoned, possibly not even seasoned at all!

When you enter, the interior makes it feel like you’re at a exclusive country estate. The stone walls, exposed beams, and warm lighting all make it feel very cosy.

I ordered the Louisiana chicken salad, my sister ordered the lamb chops and our friend ordered the sea bass.

The salad was so well dressed, lots of chicken came with it. My sisters lamb was a smidge over how she likes it cooked, but she enjoyed it, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and perfectly. Our friends sea bass was delicious too, then char on the skin amped up the flavour to another level.

We were so full we couldn’t order dessert, but hopefully next time we can try a few more items on the menu.

Our server Connor, was so attentive and always there when you needed him.

Amazing experience Isabella made our night! It was our late christmas gathering, and I am ever so glad we chose to come to baton rouge. Many drinks were shared, and the steak and sides were amazing. Highly recommend the Ginny Hendrix if you like something fresh
Update: 2nd holiday season worse experience.maybe it was because the world juniors were in town? All of our food was cold.i had the gnocchi and it was more mashed potato woth tomato sauce than it was pasta. Our server Lindsay wasn't super genuine and felt plastic. I have the Kombucha spritzer and it was crazy syrupy and sweet, not my first choice.

On our recent trip to Halifax, there were not many places fully open for lunch. We wouldn't usually have lunch at a steak house, but the menu has lots of offerings and it was one of the only places open. The service was peppy and the food was more than adequate. The portions, however, were enormous. We thought we were in the US!

Very cozy bar area. Service is great and friendly.
Prices are good for the quality of the food.

Server was amazing, polite preffesional and very approachable. The ribs were amazingly tender. I was not really a fan of the BBQ sauce but they were great. The fries were cold would be my only real complaint.
The club sandwich my partner had was extremely delicious.
Would go ahead for sure.mostly because of our server being so great.

The food was increidible and our server amazing. The only downside is parking but the food and the wine were delicious so it is 100% worth it

Table Service was good. Our drinks were very good. Took a while to get our meals and half of them were not hot. There was no presentation of the meals. For the price range presentation should be better. It was very blah looking. I had the Seafood linguine which was tasty, but for the price of it, it should have more seafood, 2 scallops and 3 shrimp. This is our third visit, but unfortunately it will be our last.

Special dinner while on vacation and was not disappointed. The food and service were outstanding. Great menu and good selection of drinks. Enjoyed the Red Sangria with Havana rum, try it. Largest Creme Brulee I've seen, done well.

Went here for the first time, don’t recommend. The food is overpriced, it tasted like it was either over cooked or under cooked, and felt like it was more for the drinks then it was for the food. Also service was really slow although it was steady they should have more then one person taking and serving tables.

Won’t be back

This place is just a Boston Pizza with a bigger bill. I was surprised and disappointed that they would serve seafood linguini without removing the tails from the shrimp. Nothing like getting wrist deep in rose sauce trying to peel shrimp at a nice dinner. The whole meal was underwhelming but I will say the service staff were good and the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1.

I had a surf and turf, the steak was absolutely delicious but the lobster was grilled and not boiled, which is not the way to have lobster it was dry and unappetizing, the gravy that they serve the steak with was too salty. The service was great and the dessert was also good

We just stopped in here on the Sunday night of the civic holiday weekend and we’re so thankful the staff sat us and got us some food just before the kitchen closed. Also thought it was cool that a woman who looked like a manager came up to kindly reiterate that we had to order ASAP after we sat (we were more than happy to order fast but also know that sometimes servers have to enforce an annoying last call policy that can turn people off lol). Didn’t even have time to take a photo of the food cause we were starving but rest assured, it was fab

Disappointed that the prime rib was just a slice grilled, not cut from a roast. Apart from that, the food was excellent and service great!

This is one of my favourite restaurants ever! Me and my husband come over very often and the food never disappoints! The quality of the food is amazing and at an affordable price for us. The staff is friendly and we love the atmosphere. We spent many birthdays and holidays dining at Baton Rouge. Couldnt recommend more!

Atmosphere a combo of rustic and modern - loved it. Service was excellent and food was good. I felt the spinach dip could've used more garlic.

I Went back to Baton Rouge once again, this time for a Burger week burger, the "Diner Burger", and it was FANTASTIC!
We Started off with some Cheddar Dip, which was a large serving size for 3 of us & Bavette Beef Bites which came out on a sizzling hot plate, both apps were delicious.
The burger arrived with a nice side of fries.
The bacon jam gave it a hint of sweetness that made it taste perfect matched with the other basic, but tasty toppings.
Sara, our waitress, was great! She was very Friendly, service was on the ball, and she had great suggestions:)
I'm Sad the cheesecake was unavailable but hope to try it next time I'm in!

We wish we had a better experience at Baton Rouge. Josh the greeter was extremely friendly and gave an amazing first impression. The food was great and management was lovely. Monte, our server was quite frankly the worst server we have ever had. He was not genuine and we had the managers check on our table and know more about our order than he did. If not for Monte, 5 stars.

Our server was excellent. When I chose the clubhouse sandwich she recommended to get Cajun spice added to the chicken, it was amazing. Also the sweet potato fries and the dipping sauce was fantastic.

I was out to eat for a family dinner on Saturday September 18th. Our waitress was named Ellen, I remember she mentioned that she was part time I think. Anyways this would be my second time being at Baton Rouge & my experience was terrible. We had a reservation & everything was okay. We had a reservation & last minute a few couldn’t make because of work. We end up downsizing to a table so the restaurant could use the table for another party. Ellen was fine with that & another party end up coming. With COVID-19 happening right now I would thought they would have clean the table when we all moved to the same table but unfortunately they did not. Even though we didn’t drink the water on the table, they weren’t replaced & used for the next party that came in. I know it was busy evening because it’s a Saturday so we were that worried about our waitress not checking up on us a lot but I will say it was very little. When this other party showed up she was at their table very often & was barely check on the table next to them (which was my table.) it got very annoying especially when we wanted to order, it like she forgot all about us. Eventually we order our appetizers & then our mains and a few drinks. I cannot speak for rest of my family who go their food but when I got my food, it was on the break of being cold, very lukewarm I guess you could say. I’m not the type to complain & neither is my family. I know they were very upset about not getting waited on more then the table next to us especially since we were there before them. Because it was a book reservation the tip was already added onto our order. I’m not the one to complain about a price of my order but for my experience, waiting around & my food being basically cold it honestly In my opinion worth the price. I tried calling about it twice but no one had the time for me.

Do not recommend.
The hostess was rude and automatically assumed I was picking up an order instead of greeting me. I felt discriminated.
I ordered a BR trio, the ribs and the chicken was fairly good. The shrimp was amazing but the fries were horrible. It literally tasted like McDonalds fries. I was also supposed to get coleslaw but that was missing from my order.

Everything was delicious. The lobster poutine is massive. The server said noone has ever finished it and she wasn't wrong.

It was our first time here, and the overall experience was ok. When we got there, it was super empty, but because we didn’t make the reservation so they let us wait for 10 mins. Not sure cuz they wanna make the restaurant more fancy so they set up a timer for us lol?
The food was ok, the ribs and shrimp were super good, but the fries were like cheap frozen fries… I mean the dish is pricey, but they are very stingy about the quality and quantity of fries…
There’s 2 tables next to us (but there were still pretty empty in the restaurant) were also complaining about this restaurant lol
They even served the wrong dishes to the next table…
And we also got the beer that wasn’t our order… (how do I know? Cuz it’s the 2nd round, we already got our beer for the first round)
It was not a good experience… they wanna be a fancy restaurant but all the quality of food and service were not quite there.

Went for lunch very limited selection, the French fries are a joke, tiny cheap 3rd grade potatoes, fish was horrible, ribs were good, 2 stars are for the exceptional service, the server was attentive and knowledgeable very nice lady, won't return, do not recommend.

My daughters made reservations for August 2nd, 2021 and were excited for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We were expecting some type of special evening but were disappointed with the service (slow to acknowledge our presence as the server said they were very busy although looking around, not a large crowd. A second server needed to provide us with utensils as our server kept going by and appeared absent minded.) You would think that this occasion would elicit some type of recognition but no, the server said "Congrats, we seated you at the "special table"", big deal. A complimentary dessert or something, but nothing. For a bill in excess of $200 you would expect more. Sad situation Baton Rouge. I have been to your restaurant in Montreal, no comparison sad to say.

I have only been to Baton Rouge twice but both times didn't disappoint, perfect place to take your significant other to for a dinner date then explore downtown Halifax, food is delicious, prepared well, staff are very on point to give you the best service, overall a great place to get your eat on

Worst Experience, mandatory tip allowed the server to only come to our table 2 times in over 2 hours. Had to get another server to take our food order after over and hour.

Today, I placed an order and the food arrived completely cold. The order took an hour to arrive and then I had to reheat it because it was completely cold.

Had the lunch special, cream of broccoli soup with half a chicken club sandwich.so satisfying. The soup had a little kick to it and the chicken was done over an open fire! So delicious and juciy!

I'll keep this short.if you're in Halifax and you haven't visited here yet. You are missing out. I've been here many times for a reason. These Ribs are to die for. Red velvet cake is absolutely delicious as well and the lunch menu-pulled pork.yum! Our family hasnt had anything here we haven't liked. I believe all or most is made from scratch! The staff here are consistently excellent and always friendly and accommodating. Our favourite place!

This is a lovely place. We sat on the patio tonight and it was fairly chilly, so the waitress gave us blankets (which made us very comfortable). The food was excellent and our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our waitress was very pleasant as well. We quite enjoyed our experience and I would definitely recommend going.

For the price the food was definitely not worth it. Ending up spending $80 for 2 people and had to send the salmon Cesar salad back as the salmon was dry, bland and burnt. Steak salad was alright but not worth the money. Did not expect a high end restaurant to have that low quality food. Would definitely not come back.

Just had a delicious pitcher of Sangria's, and the best filet mignon and stuffed baked potato & side veggies. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My boyfriend and I went here on a date & the food and service was amazing. He had salad & ribs & gluten free cheesecake. The cheesecake was incredible! I had lobster stuffed mushrooms (delicious) a sandwich & the crème brûle trio, sadly my dessert was not good at all & my red sangria was lacking. But the overall experience and food was amazing & we will definitely be back again!

Food is delicious and service is pretty quick even during busy lunch hour. Nice atmosphere and place can seat large company. Only problem is hard to find parking close to the restaurant.

Baton Rouge is definitely a success for our small firm. They are always very accommodating and courteous. The food is simply delicious and the wait staff are extremely pleasant. This will be our place to go for firm lunches and dinners. Thanks BR.
