Bear River Vineyards

Top notch location, atmosphere, wine, and people!
I make sure to stop by everytime I am in the area and pick up a few bottles, the staff are easy going, happy have a chat about everything from wine, to the barn that houses the operation.
The passion and love for wine making, and the local area shines through, it's a must stop of any trip in the area.

Waa this place is such a hidden gem close by Bear River! The environment is really special with stunning views over the vineyard.
The owner and staff are amazing, the friendliest people ever, with great knowledge.
And cherry on top of the cake: the wines are excellent!

Got a chance to visit this charming vineyard this summer and had an amazing experience. Beautiful location, amazing hosts and delicious wines. From the tasting to the tour, every part of the visit was delightful. I would love to visit again in the future.

I LOVE this vineyard. The owners are so kind and passionate about what they do - and they are so knowledgeable in explaining the vines and creation of Nova Scotia wines to guests. Stunning vineyard, delicious wine, delightful owners. This winery is in such a beautiful area, you get great views of the valley, lovely spots to sit overlooking the vineyard. The owners, Darren and Sue, are so warm and welcoming and so happy to tell you about their wines. The other employees (especially Sarah and Gregory) are delightful and super knowledgeable. When you arrive, employees are happy to give you a tour of the winery and to offer you a tasting. Lots of delicious wines to choose from - my personal favourite is the Rose Eh. Love that the artwork on the bottles is done by local artists! A must visit spot in Bear River.

Amazing wine, great setting and friendly and knowledgeable staff. My mom, son and I stopped in during our trip through Nova Scotia and this was by far our favourite stop!

Many thanks to Anita! Her knowledge of their wines and her enthusiasm for the winemaking process are outstanding. As are the labels she has created for two wines! Wish we could be here for the release of the vineyard’s “hummingbird” red. A most enjoyable wine tasting in a picturesque setting.

Excellent wines, worth a try! The owner gave lots of explanations. Like the reds, whites and some really good rosee. Also a nice spot in an area with nice boutiques.

If you enjoy wines on the dryer side this place is definitely worth a stop. The Riesling was fantastic.

Wow, what a terrific spot. We stayed for two nights in July 2022 and couldn't be more satisfied. There is a single unit in a part of the winery and it is very comfortable with a large bathroom and nice sized bedroom with great views of the vineyards.
And now the wines, they too are very good also at a good price point. We were given a delightful tour by Sue, one of the owners, of this historic cow barn that was converted into the winery. Each of the lovely wine labels was created by a local artist. All the people we met were very friendly and cheerful.
Also, a number of the building in the 'town' of Bear River is built on stilts because of the tidal waters of the Bay of Fundy.
I highly recomme staying here for a peaceful getaway.

Update: Quite often when you are tasting wine at a winery you think it is great and buy some, then when you actually open one of the bottles later on you think how could I possibly think this was OK. Well in the case of Bear River wines we just opened a bottle about 10 days later and it was as excellent as when we tasted at the winery. Cheers

Unique experience! Unique gravity fed winery. Great tour given by the owner - very knowledgeable about her wines and wineries in general. So pleasant and helpful. Wine tasting was awesome which resulted in us buying several bottles of wine. Should be included as a hidden treasure in the travel guides.

The lady were all very welcoming, they all had masks on, because people from everywhere drop in. Then the lady told me about each win, I come to find I do like red wine as long as it's not oacky, I did a tasting of three, came home with three, I can't wait to open one to enjoy it.

Today we are home from staying at your property. We miss it already. Darren and Sue went above and beyond for us. A special place that we spent our 30 th Anniversary. If you like wine and a place to stay to unwind from it all. Trust me you will love it there. It was like a second honeymoon for us and the wine is spectacular and their oak tree on the property is sooooo peaceful. Just to get away from it all. Such a cute winery with a fantastic view! Delicious wine too! Stopped in for a flight and the staff was sp friendly!

My friend and I stopped at Bear River Vineyards as a fun stop on our road trip through Nova Scotia. Gregory attended us and educated us on the wine, building and processes and provided us with a wonderful time and tasting. This was a very charming stop would love to come back again.

Have always enjoyed our visits here. I wish they offered food items for purchase. They use to waive the tasting cost if you purchased wine, but that is no longer. I get it, but they need to make the tasting a bit better if they are going to charge. Get real glasses instead of plastic that they use for all wines. Chairs that are comfortable and you can sit with knees under the table. We visited frequently, but will rethink long drive out now. Sadly.

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Bear River Vineyards while on vacation in Nova Scotia. As avid wine drinkers we were both really impressed not only by the wine (Eft & Greater Yellowlegs were standouts) but, by the tour that the owner took us on to share the rich and frankly fascinating history of the vineyard.

We're looking forward to visiting again when we come back to Nova Scotia.

What a gem! I would love to say we stumbled across this winery as that would make the story even better, but we actually have been planning to visit here for years. We were not disappointed! The property is stunning. The tour and history of the vineyard was intriguing and very well told by Darren and Sue. They have done an outstanding job maintaining the property and honouring the history. There are many plans to grow the business that will be exciting to watch and give even more reason to go back again. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the wine! We tasted three wines and made sure to stock up before we left.

This is a beautiful place to visit. Darren & Sue are so passionate and love to host visitors. Highly recommend.

Visited most Valley wineries last week of August with friends. Bear River was our first stop and one of the best, in our group’s opinion. It’s a lovely location & terrain with a great host and a nice range of products! Recommended!
