They have an amazing team, the staff out front is always a joy to deal with and Dr. Gillis has always been a great doctor. We cannot say enough good thing about them all! 5 start +

I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences with this vet. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and are always checking up on my dog. I called mid day looking to get my dog in ASAP due to an accident and they squeezed me in and were so accommodating. On top of that, I had a trip to the overnight emergency vet due to some porcupine quilts, and bedford highway vet called me to check up on my pup after receiving the report from emergency the next day. No dog loves the vet but I always find them very gentle when working with my dog! Love the team here.

We trusted here before but won’t go there anymore. Thanks to a vet “professional” behavior.

My dog was going to have his vaccine and the vet thought he was too nervous at that time and tried to muzzle him. But, this happened right after they met for 10s and the vet did not use any treat to introduce the muzzle to my dog but tried to do this directly, and this made my dog nervous and started barking. We were ok to stop doing anything at that time but the vet kept telling us to be APPRECIATE about finding my dog’s “problem” otherwise he may hurt others in the neighborhood but I don’t think there is anyone gonna muzzle my dog on the street right after they just met, maybe unless that people is a “professional” vet like the one we met.

I will never came back even my dog took vaccine here since he is a puppy.

The new vet came in and tried to muzzle my dog’s mouth directly before vaccinating. They just know each other for 5s. Now, She tried to do so without a treat and without introducing the muzzle to my dog. Then, of course, my dog starts to bark because he doesn’t trust this vet and he doesn’t know why there is a stranger trying to muzzle his mouth. I asked let me do it and she refused.

After that, she told us my dog is aggressive and she will cancel the appointment because my dog is nervous and threaten. She told me I should be serious with this situation and appreciated them. Excuse me? Appreciated what? Appreciate you make my dog felt nervous because of your unprofessional behavior? My dog should feel nervous because a stranger tried to muzzle him. My dog has his right to warn you because of this unprofessional behavior.

All the staff were great! Had to take our poor little cat in, they were able to look at him the same day we called. They were very nice to him, and over the long weekend called to check on him to see how he was responding to the medication and advised they were going to be closed and to call the emergency clinic if anything changed. We just had a follow up yesterday and little guys doing much better. Thanks to all the awesome staff here!

Thank you for your emergency service on my frenchie today. Such great care for my fur baby. Dr Karen went over my pup in detail, blood work confirmed a Lyme’s Disease diagnosis. In 24 hours my pup went from a sore leg to not being able to walk or hold himself upright. I worried it was disk but it was Lyme”s. 12 hours later with meds and rest he is able to move and drink water. I am so grateful for the quick diagnostic care given. My fur baby is on the mend, Praying he will have a full recovery.

I have been taking my animals dogs and cats to Dr. Cheryl DeYoung, and Dr. Jim Gillis for some 15 plus years now and I absolutely love the care and education they have provide me. The front staff have always been helpful and gracious as well as the Vet assistants I recommend them so very highly, They have helped tow of my pets cross over and were extremely empathetic with my tears. It is a quiet and serene environment and you never feel rushes and this causes your animals to remain chill and not stressed. Would never go anywhere else.

Horrible experience… do not use this vet! The front staff is under qualified.the veterinarians themselves were good with my cat.but the front staff sent me home after her spade with these pyjamas that were suppose to be snug so her wound would be covered.but they sent me home with her pjs clearly too big and no cone… during the winter storm we were having. And also told me me my cat had attitude all day.well duh… she was in a cage and was operated on… the response I received once I called them when I got home was I will just have to got to the emergency if the wound opens… Great… Saturday storm.angry cat.and just go to emergency.thanks for that… maybe you should have noticed the pjs were much too big and sent a cone home with me. Also I requested to speak to a vet on Monday to let them know the issues and no one has yet called me back.
Thank god I found another clinic that will now take care of her.and guess what.they have a cone!

So far so good, friendly with excellent communication and very transparent, fair price. The vet came after a first examination to give me an overview and asked me couple of questions before he does the vaccines. I was very happy to see that the vet came to talk to me since I couldnt be in the exam room with my kitty, decided to make this place my kitty vet for now on. I even got welcomed the first time by that lovely kitty, and she kept me company while waiting. Got a follow up call the next day to see if all was well. I was impressed by there follow up and transpatency. Thank you to the team?

We have brought or Boston terrier here since he was a puppy, the staff and veterinarian have always been fantastic and gone out of their way to help

Absolutely phenomenal! Dr. Deyoung and her staff have been nothing but great when it comes to my Staffie mix. They take their time explaining everything, don’t pressure you into expensive medications/procedures, very reasonably priced, are beyond patient with my usually uncooperative chunky boy, and don’t discriminate breeds. Offer great solutions to every health problem we’ve had so far (including a very scary issue over the summer - got a same-day appointment and was resolved within a couple of days). You can tell they genuinely do care about the pets that come in as well as their owners (example: my boy gets VERY anxious at the vet - they’ve never gotten annoyed or frustrated with him, even when he gets vocal) They follow up via phone calls/texting if that’s your thing, send reminder letters when they’re due for vaccines and flea/tick meds. Absolutely refuse to take my dog anywhere else! Love everyone that works here and will praise them to the moon and back. Major thank you to Dr. Deyoung & all staff!

They got me in the same day I called which was such a relief. Their lobby is quiet which made my cat less anxious about travelling and being at the vet. The vet techs were kind and the vet was very gentle with my cat. The vet also very transparently laid out my options and the costs of those options for my cat, which I appreciated knowing upfront. This will be my regular vet from now on.

A great team! They did a very good job to prepare my cats for an international travel (shots, paperwork.). A bit expensive though.

Always available, knowledgeable and friendly. Diagnosed leptospirosis and started treatment very quickly leading to a fast recovery.

Be warned - this IS the most expensive vet in HRM. If you think you are paying for experienced vets, you're not. Here is an example - my cat needs a cardiac ultrasound. The ONLY Dr.who does this in the maritimes (Dr. Rist) charges $350. Bedford HWY charges the customer an ADDITIONAL $150 - for "admin" fees. Other vets charge between $50-75 additional to cover the cost of renting a room for an hour. The exact same doctor - the exact same service.
Bedford HWY also charges $25 per pet to trim their nails with the purchase of an $85 "check up" - I called 5 other vet clinics, and they offer this service complimentary with a check up, or $16 to walk in.
BTW wondering what a check up is: check weight, look at teeth, listen to heart. That'll be $85 Plus 15% HST please.
