Best Western Truro - Glengarry

It is a conference centre. Fortunately there was not event on the Friday we stayed. Because the size of the hotel, the volume was still high. A little noisy. Other than that everything else was fine.

I like Best Western. You pretty much always know what you're going to get. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. In this case the in-house restaurant was very good. Which was great because they provided breakfast as well and the breakfast was above and beyond what you normally find.

For one night it's fine, the place is clean and the room spacious but it remains a noisy and typical Best Western place

Our reservation was for the night of May 28th, 2023 for two rooms - 405A and 406A under "Daviel" (clearly, a slightly misspelled version of the surname attached to this review, which nonetheless should have been easy to find). And if those rooms were recently upgraded, I cannot imagine what their condition could possibly have been prior to the "upgrade". I stand by my original review below and suggest that when potential clients of the Best Western Glengarry in Truro look to Google for unbiased reviews, they sort by "Newest" rather than "Most relevant" - the latter seems to involve an algorithm that filters out negative reviews.

Avoid the Best Western - Glengarry in Truro at all costs. We booked two rooms at nearly $150 each after being evacuated from our home due to the wildfires in NS a week and a half ago (May 2023). I can't speak to the rooms in the main building - perhaps the pictures they advertise on the website are from there (or another hotel entirely), but the outbuildings at the back were worse than any motel dive I have EVER stayed in. So bad, in fact, that my mother (who was staying with us when we evacuated) slept in her clothes, it felt that grungy. There were a few other families staying there with young children and I'm guessing they were thrilled with the 'interesting' activity that was blatantly being conducted from several of the rooms. We should have slept in the car. We arranged for a different hotel first thing in the morning and couldn't wait to leave. I will certainly never book a room at any Best Western hotel again based on this experience.

My family and I took a trip across Canada from bc alberta and saskatchewan and stayed here it as great.we did not have a booking but they were able to accommodate us right away. They have a restaurant which was pretty good. Little over priced for portions but all together was good. The complimentary breakfast was the best we've had on our travels hot and ready to eat more like a restaurant style. All together I'd recommend staying here. The pool was a little busy but looked clean and also had a hot tub. I didn't use it but looked like it would be fun for kids.

Comfortable well decorated room, (although the floor was chilly). We liked that the windows could open for some fresh air. The kitchenette was very useful. Super easy close parking.

Wow, what an amazing staff. I've never been treated like this, especially by the breakfast staff. The rooms were good and everything about the stay was simple and enjoyable

I checked in late in the night and went directly to bed. When I woke up and started using the bathroom, I noticed BLOOD. 4 drops of strangers blood on the floor where I was walking barefoot. How can this be happening or allowed In a hotel to give a room that is not clean? , I just can not believe how this Truro best western facility is being managed and cleaned when all these serious infections and illnesses are around. A good clean is a backbone of the hospitality industry and best western failed completely. I can go on and on with the interesting conversation I had when I brought this to the management attention, but I will not.
This hotel should be named WORST WESTERN TRURO.

The place looks beautiful when you walk through the front doors but as soon as you tell them you have a service dog or a dog. The little welcome bag thay he had placed on the counter somehow disssppeted and I was told that my reserved room was in this Outback building that you have to walk through a courtyard to get to. I had already taken my luggage in with me so it was quite the struggle for me. Needless to say I was very unhappy and felt unsafe there being a single older lady with my service dog and did not even try to go back for breakfast the next morning. I filled out a survey and told them how bad the room was regarding cleanliness and safety. I never did get a reply back. I won't be staying there again. I stayed at many Best Westerns and always had a great experience I was very disappointed with this one.

Always stay here when in Truro. Staff, room, pool, hot tub are great! Hot tub is actually hot! Love it! Restaurant breakfast was disappointing as hash browns, bacon and toast were cold. Eggs cooked to order were only thing hot. Would have been lovely if it wasn't cold.

Room wasn't clean, front office staffs were kinda rude, Huge breakfast buffet with alot of choices for hot and cold food, loved the fresh eggs served to order. Enjoyed the nachos and butter chicken. Will not come back again.

Excellent service with very clean room. Excellent breakfast. Bump us up to a better room to make it easier for us. Front desk very accompanying

The room I had was NOT clean! The tub had residue of God knows what.
The sheets look like they where used a few times. I took a good look and there was all kinds of hair and yellow stains in the sheets. I told the desk and they told me nothing we can do about it at this hour.
Poor service if you ask me.

I’m a local who stayed for 2 nights during the aftermath of Fiona.
I was extremely happy with my stay, the room was immaculately clean and the hallways had a cool modern vibe to them. Anne-Marie at front desk was a delight to chat with, Patsy was super helpful for assisting me in getting a better rate and Adam from maintenance was very helpful.
The complimentary breakfast buffet was a lovely meal to start my days with.

The front desk staff are very friendly. And there was a guy name Adam who was in maintenance who went way above and beyond for me. First I asked for bath mat, delivered, extra towels and face cloths, delivered, and then had him come back for my air conditioner which was not having a problem.it was me.but Adam came to my room FOUR times and same sweet smile on
his face. Best western should consider him an asset to the company. We will definitely be back

Rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. Complimentary breakfast was provided and location regarding highway connections was excellent. Front staff very helpful with providing suggestions and directions for places to eat and visit.

We were here 2 nights. Rooms don’t have enough light. Washroom is small. Breakfast was not good. Waitress on the breakfast were really good both times. However, the front seat staff was rude to us.

Amazing stay! Service was excellent and the room was perfect. Pools are quite nice too, would definitely recommend to anybody!

I booked a 2 night stay here a month prior to the stay. We are tourists and arrived at 11: 30pm at night to check in, only to find out our whole stay was canceled.

The night shift manager was kind, however, kept placing blame on me and/or the booking agency for the cancelation which I disliked very much. I did not like this as the day and time our stay was canceled I was working, not to mention I was standing there with our stay still confirmed on my booking app. This is when they started to blame the booking agency.

We were told the hotel was fully booked, meaning, we are in an unknown area at 12am at night with nowhere to go. They did not offer to help us find a place, and charged us full price for the next day (but gave us a king room instead of a queen).

My partner and I were in the parking lot until 1am desperately trying to find a place to stay. We had come from Halifax after a day trip originally, and finally found a room (in Halifax). Meaning, we had to drive back to Halifax at 1am after driving from there, pay for the extra gas, and pay triple the price of our stay here for 5 hours of sleep. Our plans that were close to Truro were also canceled given the immense lack of sleep and travel time. During this time, I called the booking agency to confirm if what the hotel was saying was true. It wasn’t. They informed me I was right and the stay was still confirmed. This means the hotel messed up and canceled our stay.

I am giving this place a 3 star instead of 1 as Patsy, the day time manager I presume, offered our next night as a complimentary stay and told us it was their fault and apologized. We were also upgraded to a nicer room. I will add that I think more could be offered, given the immense trouble this caused us. Not only are we out an extra 300$, our plans were canceled and we ran on very little sleep and were extremely stressed (arrived to hotel 1130pm, didn’t get to the new one after spending hours searching for a stay until 2: 20am). I’m grateful to have had a free nights stay in a nice room, but since we originally had two nights, I feel it would’ve been best to offer a voucher for a stay in a nest western for the future as well.

Staff were kind and considerate and I appreciate Patsy for apologizing and trying to make things right. The breakfast is also good.

Air conditioner filter plugged solid with dirt we actually clean them for cold air to come thru. Otherwise ok

Hotel itself is ok, however, the worst customer experience I've every had anywhere at breakfast with regards to the staff that couldn't be bothered to assist us.

Had an issue where one room's door wouldn't latch and therefore wouldn't lock. There was another room but it was in a different building. No offer of compensation.
It has 2 pools, the one indoors is next to the hot tub, and is crazy warm, like 30C. The outside one is much nicer on a hot day, but gets deep quickly. You have to ask at the front desk for pool towels; I wish they were just readily available at the pool deck.
Breakfast included was good, but nothing special. Coffee machine was broken and they didn't come around to fill up your coffee cup.
It's strange that there are different buildings that you have to walk outside to get to, but there's lots of parking.

Other hotels could learn from this hotel. A heated pool is supposed to mean heated and this place delivers. Was so comfortable and saw everyone really enjoying themselves. If you're there in the summer they even have an outdoor pool as well. Rooms were great breakfast is very blah but hotel complementary breakfast usually is.

Well situated in the middle of town. Easy access to the town and highway as well as the rest of Colchester and Nova Scotia.

Love that you can drive up to your door and unpack your vehicle if you choose ground floor accommodations.
Clean & Front Desk folks are very nice!

Rooms are dated and beds are not the most comfortable but the pools make up for it and it's clean.

I have stayed here a few times and each time was a great experience. Friendly staff, beautiful rooms, great location. There are 2 pools-indoor and outdoor. I swam in the outdoor one and it was so refreshing on a hot day. Breakfast was free and had a good variety of choices. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.

Staff was very nice. Rooms were clean and nice. Onsight restaurant could use cleaning. The glass top was cleaned but black tablecloths were obviously not changed daily. Stayed here twice in a 5 day stretch and the same both times.

Beautiful hotel, breakfast was lovely, lots of variety, staff was kind and welcoming. Shower was one of the best showers a person could have.

Cons: internet was not working upon arrival but was restored the next day but was very slow, sink in bathroom was clogged upon arrival.

Hotel was clean, but when my family came for a meal First the meals came one at a time and a long wait for our food.by the time 3 of us ate ours my son got his burger? The waitress seemed unconcerned serving us!
My son's liquor drink was put into a small child size glass.very disappointing service

The room is modern and the beds are very comfy! Everything was clean when we arrived and the front desk staff were lovely.
Service was really lacking in the restaurant bar, bartenders unfortunately struggle to make mixed drinks (no cocktail menu). The wait was very long to order drinks. 20+ minutes sitting with an empty cup, despite being one of three tables.
There are only 2 restaurants within walking distance and one was fully booked.

Rooms were clean and service was good. We have stayed at this hotel before and have always had a good experience.

If you had in the negative that's how I would rate this place. We always stay in Best Western and Best Western Plus. This place was disgusting. We wouldn't stay and as I was getting a refund. Someone else was also leaving. How you can't see mold is beyond me. Along with other issues. It's to bad they can be called Best Western because they don't deserve it.
Absolutely Gross!

The hotel was clean, had free internet, pool and hot tub were excellent temperature. Food in the restaurant was excellent.

Friends visited for a concert recently and I mentioned the best westen in town, big mistake as this does not meet any expectations I have set for other Best Westerns we have stayed at. Poor excuse for a "hotel'. This is basically a motel with hotel prices. Dingy old room that stunk, a motel around back. Rude front desk workers while we checked in.

We were entertaining relatives by taking out to breakfast! The food was not hot, took a long time to get our coffees, etc.not much of a choice for morning buffet, and the sausage was not cooked properly! Overall a bad experience! Never again!

Indoor pool plus hot tub and an outdoor pool with a courtyard to the outside rooms. Free hot breakfast and when we arrived the ac was already on. Staff was very friendly too. Would highly recommend and great place to bring the kid's.

The Best Western Truro Glengarry is a wonderful hotel. The main lobby and restaurant are absolutely beautiful and they are working hard to update the rooms from nice to above average. Service and hospitality are outstanding and the staff is gracious professional and very responsive to the needs of their guests. I highly recommend this hotel.

Check in time was 3PM. Didn't get in my room till 510 PM. I booked for a king bed. I got 2 double ones. After getting out of shower walkin arround gettin ready my feet were black on the bottoms.gross.
Also the hottub was in serious need of cleaning. My sincere condolences to the poor front desk staff.alot of guest's were not nice to them at all.

The two pools and hot tub were great, our kids spent a lot of time in them. The desk staff were great but the restaurant/breakfast left a lot to be desired. Had dinner once and the food was good but staff was not super attentive, took a while to get menus (aka, we got them ourselves). Breakfast was ok, they had decent hot options but weren't always very warm. Cereal, check before committing as the ones I tried were pretty stale. I would rather individual yogurts instead of a big bowl that had hardened around the edges. Choose your breakfast carefully. The pools were the redeeming quality but it was pretty pricey.

Good stay. Rooms could use a bit of an upgrade. Clean. No issues aside from they ran out of shampoo.

Room was decent, clean. Breakfast was nice, the back parking lot was being paved so had a little walk to get to my room which is totally no big deal but for any one with mobility issues it may have been. The pool was out of order as well due to cleaning materials not being available.so double check before you go just incase, this wasn't noted on the booking site.

Rooms are large and clean. Convenient parking as well as location. Restaurant severs standard hotel meals good but not fantastic. Waitresses were very helpful and pleasant. Coffee is hot, good and plentiful

We arrived on Friday afternoon and stayed till Monday.everyone was so helpful right from the reservation till the end of our stay
