Big Al's Family Restaurant & Lounge

Food quality seems to have improved in the past year; the Jamaican chicken curry was a big portion and delicious. Pretty good beer selection (could do with a double IPA on tap, but maybe that's just me). Friendly and attentive service. I'll definitely return.

Food is amazing and service the best. We go here a few times each summer on our four wheelers.

If it's Hot outside go Elsewhere! Sweating and couldn't enjoy our meal constantly using napkin to wipe it Off (no A/C on or Windows Open for breeze) - Haddock was really good though (authentic & fresh but was in a alot of grease so underside was super soggy) Floors were pretty dirty and Service was slow (took a while to be seated and wasn't very busy with open tables)

Everything was really fresh. Portions were big, we were four friends and had a nice lunch there. There is enough parking and it’s vegetarian friendly.

Love love love.wish I had room for dessert everytime but I can't stop eating the food and servings are huge. So yummy.

Curry und Burger sehr zu empfehlen. Wirklich die besten pommes frites. Service auch sehr nett. Kleines Manko, Weinauswahl.

The prices are through the roof. Used to be the go to because there's not much in that area, they have these asian nachos which are delicious but a normal size plate full which they call the (full order) is 22$! And i could eat two of them if i put my mind to it. It's way way over priced for a individual plate of nachos. The half order wouldn't fill my cat and it's 14$. They really need to take the prices down. Not worth it for what you get.

Stopped on the way to Gulf Shore Camping August 16, very friendly staff, nice cold beer, food was good and well priced.

Delicious, fast and GREAT service. Serving sizes were LARGE, so beware. The clams were amazing and the donair bites delicious. We’ll be back!

I Heard lots of good things about Big Al's! This is my first visit and I was not disappointed. Service was good and the food was great

Stopped here as part of our ATV ride along the railbed. Fast turnaround from when the order was placed until we got it. Food was good. I ordered a poutine, the others ordered burgers and everybody was happy with serving size and quality.

Your standard pub fare. But that's not a bad thing. I shared the seafood platter and it was more than enough for me and my friend. The waitress was great. Family friendly environment. Definitely recommend.

This place exceeded all expectations! Awesome service, delicious seafood platter & delectable desserts! They even switched fries for a great Greek salad at no extra charge.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, staff were friendly, and the food was superb. Highly recommend the Asian nachos and the seafood curry. Will be back for sure!

We are staying in Tatamagouche so we thought we would try Big Al's for supper. We were not only impressed with the meal but by the person who waited on us. My partner had the clams and chips which were tasty and I had the 1pc fish and chips. A 1 piece is plenty for a meal and quite tasty. Raylee was the best server that we have had in many years. I don't know what she is paid, but it should be more. Definitely a place to return to.

Third time eating here, was so disappointed, veggies overcooked, potatoes were instant as you can tell from pics, the chicken sandwich wasn't bad but the lettuce left lots to be desired. Other times had a burger and fries which were decent.

Great food, big servings and helpful and attentive staff!
We were a party of six people. We ordered different starters and different meals and neither of were let down an inch!
Covid of course has it's impact on waiting times, but nothing out of the ordinary.

My wife and I went to this restaurant on July 31,2021 for our wedding anniversary. We waited 25 minutes to be seated. The waiter took our drink order, we again waited fifteen more minutes, no drinks were brought to our table. Then I notice our waiter on the phone, my wife and I got up and left the restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant!

Generous portions and fair price. Vegetable pasta with brocolli, yellow pepper, onion, mushrooms with grilled shrimp for me and classic rueben sandwich and fries for he.

Very friendly staff, abundant take out dishes, and little waiting time (~10 mins) and good quality food (if you like what is in the menu).
I enjoyed the hamburgers, chicken fingers and onion rings are also good.

We went as a group of 19 with the Mustang Outlaws of Nova Scotia. The service was great and the food delicious. I had a 1 piece haddock and poutine, my husband had the Big Al burger with poutine it was all we could do to finish our meals. This was the first time we had ever been there. Definitely will be going back.

WOW! Food was amazing. You need to try the Asian nachos! Also the Cranberry salsa chicken was so tasty and such a surprise, delicious! Everyone at the table raved about the food!

50 minutes wait for food, 5 people. Chicken nuggets pasta a Reuben sandwich seafood and pasta a steak and vegetables everything We ordered was either burnt or overdone not impressed at all. And we'll rate the service out of two as well. First time visit will probably never return

A great local pub. Sweet and attentive service, and a full menu of food beer and wine. If I’m ever in the area again I’ll make it a point to stop by again.

Big Als deserves to be shut down. I don’t care how busy you are, how many issues you’re having, you can explain to an elderly man instead of throwing him out. Shame on you and you should all be embarrassed.

Beautiful place, it has great charm. The food is pub style/family restaurant. It's tasty. The desert is where it's at, they order it in from a supplier so it's quality. Carrot cake cheese cake was absolutely delicious.

Very accommodating venue for our family reunion of 30 people tonight. In spite of the bad rap of earlier this week the staff were friendly, attentive, and served great food to all of us in good time. We will return. Thank you Big Al's.

The recent incident at this food establishment that involved management physically harming an elderly man and laughing at him as he was bleeding on the ground is absolutely inexcusable. There simply is no justifying this behavior as it is so unprofessional and awful. Sadly, as a local, I was not surprised when i heard of the incident as the countless poor experiences I have heard of and personally had with the managers of Big Al's are plentiful. Fortunately, from what I have heard and witnessed It seems this may have been the tipping point, and I think it serves as a lesson to other businesses that if they treat customers like garbage it will eventually catch up to them.

Pretty low of you guys to throw a 73 year old man out on the streets, the way you did. I thought you guys had good food, but unfortunately I won't be back after hearing about that. On his grand daughter's birthday too. Shame on you!

Worst customer service. The staff is rude. Do yourself a favor; go eat somewhere else. This place needs to be shut down.

I've never had a bad experience here, great friendly staff and even better food. I will continue to support this establishment.

Sad to see how badly it declined under the new management and if I could give it 0 or - stars I would. To think a place that can try to justify throwing an elderly man out causing actual physical harm to the poor man is still open terrifies me. The food and service is a complete joke and I don’t think “management” knows what they are doing. It’s a shame to say but it should be closed down and the two grown men who threw the poor gentlemen out should he charged and the restaurant and owners should be sued by the family.

Stopped here onna road trip. Service was subpar. Food wasn't much better. Do not recommend which is a shame because it used to be a great spot.

Bad food, bad service, horribly rude staff, assault their customers when they complain. This place needs to be shut down.

Horrible place, due to management. I would never recommend this place to anyone, unless they wanted to be assaulted and thrown out.

What in the actual hell is wrong with you? Is it standard operating procedure to make people wait an hour for food than to physically assault then when they complain? Shame on you!

To throw an almost 80 year old man out on the ground and causing physical harm and posting lies about him on social media is disgraceful. As someone who worked in a nursing home i can say that by throwing this man out of your business on the ground literally could have broken his bones or worse; killed him. You should be ashamed if yourselves. I think the family should sue you. I also think you need to rethink your management and employees.
