We had one of the winter globes and what a wonderful night it was. There were a few glitches with orders in our large party, but the bar manager and chef were prompt to come to our table to apologize for any delays and we were well taken care of. Would highly recommend!

My family rented a globe for a Christmas celebration after having such a great time in a globe last Christmas. There was a private function taking place at the same time as our reservation and the staff were off to a slow start with our drinks and appetizers but more than made up for it as the night went on. The chef and bartender both showed up in our globe to personally apologize for the delays. The staff had big demands on them that evening and they turned it around and our family had a fantastic time. The food was amazing! We can't wait to go back again.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Upon entering we were welcomed with a friendly greeting and a beautiful smile. This lady, (Keileigh) was also our server. She was professional and made us feel very comfortable. The meal was amazing! (Thank you chef). As Keileigh got busy with a big table, the bartender came to make sure we were still doing well. Really great experience. Thank you.

I had a fantastic experience at Birch and Anchors! The friendly staff created a welcoming atmosphere. The heated dome outside is perfect for private parties, and the diverse menu offers delicious food. The attentive service added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend!

My wife and I were just here for our first and last visit.
My wife had the Jagerschnitzel and I had the Beef Brisket Bolognese.
The Jagershnitzel was pointed out to us as a highlight, which made my wife really excited because she grew up in Germany and was really hoping it would be authentic.

It was not. There was so much batter it was more like KFC than schnitzel. There was hardly any meat in it at all. The artisan greens it came with tasted like pure white vinegar and the cabbage was surprisingly spicy. I actually broke off pieces of the batter and used them like nachos to eat her spicy cabbage.

My beef brisket bolognese tasted good, but honestly it wasn't good enough, or big enough, to justify $29. There are much better bolognese dishes around town for half that price, that taste better, and have better serving size.

Our server didn't bother offering to refill our drinks, and didn't check on us until we were nearly done. When we told her the food was "just okay", she did end up giving us a little discount off the meal, so that was appreciated.

Maybe their strength is in shareable appetizers and drinks (the atmosphere definitely leans that way), which wasn't what we were looking for. We'd heard good things about their brunch from friends, but honestly this was so disappointing we're not willing to go back.

After spending nearly $80 we left hungry and disappointed.

It's not an exaggeration when I say it was so disappointing we're hesitant to eat out anywhere.

Best recommended place in Halifax, on the water, dog friendly, best service and amazing food. As a family of 7 we went to visit and stayed all evening. Food was ok, don't expect to get enough dip for your whole serving of the starter chips and dip. Menu is diminutive. Probably an okay place to go if you have a DD and want to have an office function but don't reccomend for a romantic date or anniversary. Servers were friendly

Cannot say enough good things about this place.
From the minute you enter the property you are greeted immediately as you come to the door with a smile.
Atmosphere is really nice. Our group ordered a variety of cocktails which were to die for… all were amazing.
Shared some salmon dip and nachos as an App. Came fast. Incredible.
Had the steak for dinner and it was mouthwatering.
If there is a place to eat in the HRM it’s here.

Amazing experience at Birch & Anchor. First time visiting with our friends. Staff were very nice and food was incredible. Extremely fresh and well prepared. Live music was great and the actual setup inside is so spacious and beautiful. My husband got his entree during our appetizers and our waitress was extremely apologetic and even got him a drink on the house. Couldn’t ask for more from a restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Great atmosphere and food. They swap out the menu every so often which is nice. Best in the summer time because you can eat outdoors.

I just moved to NS and this is the first place I’ve come to eat out in public alone. The hostess at brunch made me feel so welcome and sat me in such a cute area. Thank you for making my first solo dining experience and good one:)

Service was fine. Location and feel is great. Brisket tacos came out burnt with the most burnt sides served down to try to hide it. I was shocked that it made it out of the kitchen. Risotto lacked flavor and was greasy. Burger was fine but very one note and needed salt. Disappointed to say the least.

Really nice looking place. Outdoor seating only. Had live music and offered blankets as it got cooler. At first we waited a while for our drinks but then Megan came along and made our night much better. She checked on our table regularly and was very pleasant. I think she was management (she wasn't our server). But she was amazing and without her I wouldn't give such a good review. The view from this place is amazing.

Good place overall. Good food (best pizza in HRM), good drink list and mostly good staff (Jason is a standout! Great waiter) but the place seems a bit mismanaged. Once in the summer my wife and I visited and they kept forgetting things and our waitress couldn't find a bottle of wine and we ordered a different one she couldn't find that. It was a brutal dining experience but that's a one-off in light of other visits. However I wouldn't book if they are really busy because they can't manage a high volume. The sheer area of the place, with faraway locations of its bar which is faraway from the kitchen must add a lot of time for the servers.

I really detest when 4 orders are placed at one and 2 orders are brought to the table followed by at least a 5 minute pause for the other 2 orders to arrive. It might also be nice to have an option of a little less heat on the kettle fries, or at least some warning that they are spicy.

The steak was over price and tastes very bad…when the steak comes, it was cold but the waiter told me is normal
I am a chef and I exactly know how to cook the “steak” well. I never have cold steak in my entire life…this is the first time.

More importantly, the steak was too salty and the potato salad tastes terrible, just like you can get in the grocery store. Maybe the grocery store tastes even better…

In terms of the service, the waiter comes very slowly no matter you want to order the food, pay the bill, or ask more water.

I can’t think about one advantage in this restaurant! Never come back here again.

Great location, great atmosphere, great food and fantastic selection of beers. Our server, Kylie was super kind and lovely!

Services are terrible and the food was overcooked and some parts was burned. We asked servers several times different services, but got the response for some of them specially related to the food that some parts are out of their responsibility and its from the kitchen. Recommend to increase the numbers of servers at their pick time, supervise the kitchen better.

Nice view and unbeatable location however, food is a bit over priced, what we ordered here is a nachos and lobster roll and a beer as well as a mocktail. Nothing crazy, nachos were good it can be burnt sometimes but this time they did it right. Lobster roll was just normal and not as what we were expecting. Service however, we were the only two people dinning at that time, server didn't come to take out order for a long time and also forgot to bring us the glass water so imagine how it would be when the resturant is packed. Overall, they got an excellent location, service can be nicer and food can be better and price can be a little bit lower. Or.price can stay the same and just service be a bit better. (Tips were defaulted to start at 18%, that's why I mention about the service)

Atmosphere is perfect here! Being on the 'waterfront' without being at the Waterfront!
Our seared salmon and lobster roll were great, craft beer, live music great, and our server topped it off by being sincere, and making us feel welcomed, (1st time here). Frech press ️ too! Last time a server offered me this, was at Cin Cin's in Vancouver! Will be back! 850metres from my condo

Feels like they don’t really want you as a client.

I went there three times and each time couldn’t get in for a different reason, non of was published on their site or communicate in a different way;
One time we arrived there and they had a private event, the second was “we’re full, but you can’t make reservations, give us your phone and we’ll call you once we have a table”, still waiting for that call…
The third time (and last) was when I arrived the place that supposed to be open until 11pm at 9pm and they told us that they’re closing as it was a slow night with not many customers…

Not going to try again.

Lovely location, food was a bit pricey for what we got. Potato salad was very oniony. Service was okay, server could have been friendlier. Our order was sitting on the bar for a while (I think they were waiting for our pizzas?), so the garden salad was quite wilted in the salad dressing once we got it.

Really enjoyed our evening. Food was great, location is amazing and staff was very friendly and kind. Looking forward to going back.

Beautiful place for the drinks but not so much for food. The food is a little overpriced for what it is. Don’t get me wrong the food is good but not worth the premium price for a nice view. If you want to enjoy a nice view with a drink I definitely suggest this place.

The only thing we enjoyed about our visit was the view. Their outdoor patio is by the water and it’s a great spot to sit at on a hot day. But the food was a big letdown. We got a pizza and Cesar salad. The pizza had no flavour despite all the toppings that sounded good. Cesar salad was ok. Both items weren’t cheap and you’re definitely not getting your moneys worth. The waitress was also very snappy and rude with the entire group and didn’t give us enough cutlery/napkins or cups so we had to keep asking for things. The whole experience was disappointing.

I enjoyed the ambiance and the ocean view. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't have the beer I had seen on their online menu because I was seated indoors.

Nothing like a good view in nice sunny day! Brich&Anchor gives u that! Their coffee is amazing and get served in large quantity. I posted picture to show the size.the food is amazing, creative and good chef quality.the view of ocean and bridge is awesome.also they have boat renting / tour services.highly recommended

My second time here on Friday evening. I was as disappointed as the first. Service is terrible. Both visits my order was forgotten about - other tables who came after me were served way before I was. We had to flag people down. Over an hour after we arrived we finally just got our first drink.

Long wait to get menu, order, than 20min realized they didn't have food ordered. Comped 6 oysters due to wait. Appreciated but don't think was worth wait or price for supper.
Nice outdoor location and view. Don't have much indoor seating.

The venue is good, the service and food we experienced for the most parts was awful, the food due to the distance from the preparation area was nearly cold when served, the salad which was supposed to be Caesar was made with Kale which was hard to eat and did not resemble a Caesar salad at all, the calamari was hard and cold, finally the pizza had burnt hard patches rendering half of it inedible, normally I would have complained about each issue but my daughter was with us and was so disappointed with the experience as she recommended we eat here, we paid our bill and left.
Nova Scotians need to stop accepting second best and poor service.

Been there a few times now. I live in the neighbourhood and the location is lovely but the food i have had so far has been overpriced and underwhelming.

What a cool spot in the winter! We had one of the private outdoor domes, which seated eight of us very comfortably; beautifully decorated, heated seats, blankets (although I would suggest dressing warmly), such an amazing experience. Everyone loved what they ordered, and the service was outstanding. Can't wait to try this place in the summer.

First visit to The Birch and Anchor.it was amazing. Our work Christmas party was held in the Yurt. It was so cozy! All of the food and drinks were fantastic. Prime rib with mashed potato and veg superb and cooked to PERFECTION? Kale caesar salad was yummy and then dessert was an oreo cheese cake. TO DIE FOR! Their staff were friendly, attentive and very well organized for our event. Can not wait to come back for another meal.

Generally love this place, but my last visit disappointed. Expected a typical Birch & Anchor meal. Was surprised with a New Year's Eve menu that ended up costing me 3 times what I would normally spend here. Menu had no prices so I was shocked when the bill came and they had charged $95 for what was clearly no more than a $30 steak and a couple tiny appetizers. Service was mediocre with an overwhelmed waitress. They also more than doubled the listed price for making a drink a double from the usual $2 upcharge to $5.50 without telling me until I got the astronomical bill. Super disappointed in this scuzzy gouging behaviour from a normally wonderful restaurant. In total I spent $400 on a meal that I expected to cost about $160.

Go, but when you have a lot of time, and with company you enjoy. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food, but S. L. O. W. Arrival to departure with a table of four with no appetizers was nearly two hours. The restaurant was far less than half full at the time

Went here on a Thursday for lunch with a friend. It was pretty quiet when we showed up. We were greeted right away and ordered nachos to share, soup and salad, and the scallops and pork belly. The nachos were unique in that they had more like an enchilada sauce on them than traditional salsa and it worked! The toppings were perfect. There could have been a bit more on the chips (lots of “naked” ones leftover), and the chicken topping was a bit disappointing as it they were very small, basically unseasoned diced pieces, and did not match at all the quality of the rest of the plate. The soup was a butternut squash and wonderfully flavourful, as was the side salad. Scallops were some of the best my friend had ever had. We were too full to try dessert. All in all, a great place to visit. Service was super friendly and the views of Bedford Basin were nice. Would definitely return.

Our party of 3 were left waiting for an hour and a half outside on a bench for a table and were not offered drinks or anything while we were waiting. There were many available tables in the other sections and I understand there is only one outdoor waitress, but really? When we were finally seated, we ordered nachos, pretty decent, nothing spectacular. I paid an extra 5$ for adding chicken and they gave us 8 little 1cm by 1cm little slices of chicken. Beautiful patio, but terrible service and super stingy. Not coming back.

Food good and prices reasonable. Service friendly. Very nice setting. Only suggestion is turn up the thermostat - it is winter in Nova Scotia!

They picked out a good location to open a restaurant. The ocean was beautiful. I had a great time with my drinks and food. I had Thai Duck Wings because I had never try this before. It was exotic and something I had never seen before. I loved it! I love duck now. I loved the atmosphere.

Excellent service and great food. Lovely setting, tables are spaced very far apart which was great for my toddler. They also had safe highchairs which doesn't always happen.

Great spot! Both indoor and outdoor seating with great view of Bedford Basin. Efficient checking of COVID-19 vaccine status. Tasty menu. They even had live music on Friday. First time - will be back with larger crowd

The portion sizes are not worth it. The staff is overwhelmed. Asked to speak with a manager multiple times and was told there was no one around. Disappointing …

I went here with my sister and dad for dinner. I got the Mezze platter, the Mexican street corn and the tuna tartare. My sister got the kale caesar and the beef tartar, my dad got the chorizo pizza. We all absolutely loved out food and it arrived very quickly! Of all the places we've eaten for our short trip in Halifax, the Birch & Anchor was by far the best (even better than the 160$ italian dinner we had downtown). The staff have to WALK to get to us (huge open space outside) but the waitress was still very happy to serve us and said she loves what she does. 100% recommend to anyone in the area as it is immaculate food:)

It is all about the water views. They are spectacular. The food was disappointing. Suggest going for drinks only.

I see the Birch and Anchor logo every time I take the Bedford Highway and yes it picked my curiosity. Decided to go have a steak after church today and on getting there at 1pm, we were told they were still serving the brunch menu and would start serving the dinner menu at 5pm.
The brunch menu had lots of salads, teas, eggs and just 1 burger meal. Had to order the burger meal since I was very hungry. The meal was okay, the potato side was nice, environment lovely, waitresses were helpful, band playing serenading music and altogether a good experience.
I will definitely visit to try the dinner menu.

Awesome night, gorgeous place, great food. Our server Lauren (I think that was her name) was fantastic. Will definitely be back and next time bringing my dog with us.

Nothing about this place was less than great. Great service, food, decor outside, washrooms and price. Weather dependent of course as it is an outdoor venue right now.

Well, what to say. My friend and I ordered different beers, young man delivered them to us, but had no clue which was which. Then my friend ordered the mezze plate, and I ordered the chorizo pizza. Well his plate came out, shortly after we got our beer. It took a few minutes for me to get my pizza, by that time, my friend had half eaten his mezze plate, which by the way had very little hummus, a very inexpensive thing to make, it was hidden under his pita bread. The chorizo pizza was very salty and had no hint of spices at all.
All in all, a very disappointing experience. Would I try it again? Unfortunately, not a chance. The view would have been nice on a day with sun, but overall.a big disappointment.

It's a beautiful spot, the service and drinks are great but be very cautious with the food. It's very expensive and I've eaten there three times because I really wanted to give them a chance but everything has been underseasoned and just "ok" to "outright bad". I'll go back for the atmosphere and to have a drink, but not to eat.

Outdoor charcoal BBQ at its finest. Great atmosphere and view. The food was good and service great. Will return.

Lovely venue. Very busy as we went when there was a wedding party. They don't do reservations for parties smaller than 8. Food was lovely.

In one word, overrated.

The pros: Amazing view, drinks were tasty, most of the staff was nice and prompt service.

The cons: the live music was way too loud and considering it tends to be windy by the water, it was very hard to talk and hear other people talk, and not the best musician, the food was alright, specifically the pizza. Toppings were minimal and ingredients did not taste fresh. Wood fired doesn't mean it's a quality pizza. Limited menu and how difficult it is to get a reservation. Website also doesn't mention it is outdoor dining only.

In summary, if you want to go grab a drink by the water by all means this is a really nice place to go but the food and live music really turned us off.

Great outdoors space. Could use a little more lighting and some music would have been nice before and after the band played a few songs. Pizza was amazing, burgers were okay. Would love to come back and try some different food:)

I've been here twice and while the location is really nice and they have set up wonderfully I find the menu limited and overpriced.

Perhaps the best view of the basin that you could hope to find at this point. The service was wonderful and the food was great. I selfishly hope it remains a bit under wraps.

Unexpectedly great spot with tons of outdoor seating. Sat at the bar for drinks while waiting for a table. Ordered way too much for a party of 4 but got to try what felt like everything on the menu. If I had to call something out, the steak tartare was not on par with any of the restaurants I’ve been to that have served it and I’d suggest overlooking it in favour of other items. Everything else was great and would come back without a doubt.

Very slow getting order taken after meal tried to get ice cream for grand daughter. Girl sitting at booth said not taking orders for 20 mins. But she just sat there. Umm
