Bird Island Boat Tours

What a wonderful tour out to Bird Island! The Captain and his mate (his son) are very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. They are great at spotting and pointing out birds and seals, along with telling stories about the area. We saw many kinds of birds, from many puffins to kittiwakes, black Guillemot, Razorbills and more. Lots of gray seals also. A great family business and fantastic experience. We were thrilled with all of the kinds of birds, but if you are just interested in Puffins, you will see LOTS of them!

Absolutely amazing! We went on a tour with these guys in mid August and we got to see an incredible variety of seabirds. The operators are very knowledgeable about the local history and wildlife and are professional and safety oriented. On our trip, a guest was not respecting the safety protocols and the way the operators handled the situation demonstrated incredible professionalism. To top it all off, this is a family run business and everyone involved takes pride in their work. I would not hesitate to book with Bird Island Boat Tours again!

Lots of birds seen on trip. Tons of information from friendly guides. I didn't think i would have enjoyed this as much as I did. Loved the fact it is a family owned and run business. Also loved the dry humor from guides on the trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Keep up the great work gentlemen!

We took the photography tour and it was amazing! We saw so many puffins, cormorants, kittiwakes, razorbills, bald eagles, guillemots and seals! The captain was very knowledgeable and helped us spot many of the birds. S

Amazing tour with very knowledgable and friendly staff. We had an amazing time and were able to see a lot of different birds including puffins and bald eagles and learn about them. We also saw seals and had a great time. I would go back and absolutely recommend them!

We saw many different birds and seal. The Captain did an excellent job explaining the variety of wildlife and their living habitat. Enjoyed seeing the puffin fly over the water.

This tour was a great time, and well worth the experience! We saw tons of birds while on the tour; puffins, gulls, bald eagles, and a lot more than we expected. Also there were hundreds of seals lounging about near the islands which were very cool to see up close. If you have a few hours I'd definitely recommend going on the tour!

Had a wonderful tour and would highly recommend to anyone looking to get lost in the beautiful landscapes and nature this area has to offer. Great value and very educational. The father son duo are personable and go above and beyond to educate and entertain their guests. Also have some great cottages and a great gift shop.

We loved this tour! The crew was highly knowledgeable and funny. There were only about 13 of us on the boat which allowed for us to comfortably move around and get the best views. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our 2-hour bird cruise in July 2022. The operators have many years of experience and provided a lot of information about the birds, seals, history, etc. The boat was comfortable and gave great access to the wildlife. Thank you so much!

The father and son duo are AMAZING! We highly recommend the bird island tour to anyone who has an appreciation for nature and would love to see the beautiful shoreline. Saw countless birds and seals and the captain and son duo are extremely knowledgeable and their passion for conservation is inspiring and contagious. Unlike some other tours who use unethical means to bait birds closer the Captain and Son duo use their knowledge of animal patterns and great steering to get you picture perfect close. Boat is also covered with seating outside on the back should you wish and even has a bathroom which is perfect for the 2: 45 minutes tour. Cannot believe the value as tickets are only 40ish dollars. Also has a super cute gift shop where the affordable merchandise has a way of inspiring gifts for your friends and family you feel sad for not attending. Wish I could give more stars! Also has great cottages on site with shoreline views for anyone looking for a quiet nature cabin lodging.

It was an amazing tour. Highly recommended! We traveled to Nova Scotia specifically to go on this tour, and it was well worth the 3 days of driving.

Amazing tour that way surpassed my expectations. The scenery is breathtaking and the wildlife is abundant. Tour operator shared so much interesting information about the different species of birds and the history of the area. Kids loved it. Boat was clean and roomy. The price is low and more than fair considering how long the trip was. Would go again in a second! One hundred percent recommend trying it.

Family owned bussiness. Nice crew and staff, well kept boat, very knowledgeable. Owner drove my mother down to the boat.

What a great trip! But even better was how the owners kept us on a wait-list and called us when there was availability. They even waited a little extra while we rushed to get there after the call. The trip itself was as promised, full of bird and seal sightings and, of course, oodles of Puffins! Bald Eagles as well. Plus some story telling to boot!

AMAZING FAMILY RUN ETHICAL BIRD TOUR! No tricks or unethical feeding are used to bring these beautiful animals right to our boat side! We saw multiple seals (+ seal pups), bald eagles, multiple puffins, razorbills, cormorant and a lot more! Our boat was run by a father and daughter crew and their banter was so funny and knowledgeable, we learned so much! Boat is not cramped and windows open! *tip: the captain says overcast/ days after a rain is the best time to take a tour because more birds hangout at the islands then*

Loved the trip, great views, saw many of the birds I wanted to see including many puffins, some razorbills and bald eagles. Many I didn’t know about as well. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful evening! Highly recommended. Our group was all locals and we all wanted to go for years but just didn't find the time. We all are so glad we went and will most likely do it again. The tour guides were fantastic, the scenery is beautiful. Very interesting. So many species of birds.

We had a great tour! The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Great value as well, close to three hours and you get to see so much! I would recommend renting binoculars, I wish I had seen the sign for the rental before we left, but next time I will.

Best boat tour I've been on! The father and son crew were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and FUN. They had tons of info about the birds with helpful pictures and explanations. They also knew the history of the area very well. Such a great tour, hoping we get to come back soon!

What a great voyage. Could have spent hours more checking out all the birds/wildlife and incredible scenery. Lots to learn and enjoy! 1 mistake we made was not buying the memory stick of photos. Being on the boat is not as cold as you would think! Will most likely go back.

I went on a lovely tour in late May. We saw lots of puffins, grey seals, and other bird species which the crew was excellent in helping us to identify. Truly a great and educational experience!

This was one of the best boat tours I have ever been on. The captain and crew were extremely knowledgeable and made the tour fun and entertaining. We saw numerous types of birds (Puffins!) and seals, including a seal pup. So cute! No matter where you are in Nova Scotia I highly recommend you make your way to this place.
