I've had the pleasure of two opportunities to enjoy BKS and it was outstanding. Amazing experience, wonderful cocktails and food.

Went on October 20,2033 for a hopefully lovely experience the night before my wedding and instead had a very disappointing experience. My husband arrived a bit before me and grabbed a table, by the time I was waiting and knocking on the door for admittance 20 minutes after he arrived no one had been to the table to take orders or provide any service. I could hear him ordering at the bar as I waited outside, and could hear him asking for someone to let me in as I had been waiting approximately 7 minutes.
He had requested the bartender make a sour drink for me; the drink provided was not sour at all and was a red wine mixed cocktail- the most expensive cocktail on the menu for a single serving. Around this time we started to realize that other tables were having wait staff take their orders, being checked in with and being provided with complimentary olives. We had not had anyone check in on us or any type of wait staff interaction. We ended up moving tables hoping that would increase our service a bit after checking in at the bar to make sure that was okay, and to get out of the path of the kitchen door. Another (new) couple sat down at the table next to us at the same time so we were able to see the drastic difference in service they received. They were promptly greeted, given olives, orders were taken and brought to them all very quickly. By the time we finished our drinks (and the table next to us had finished two each), and no one had checked in on us; we actually had to physically extend our arms and block a wait staff from waking by us to ask if we could order food. We were told that the menu we had wasn’t accurate for the night- provided no other information in that interaction. Five minutes later another member of the wait staff stopped by the table and said “I hear you want to order food. ” Saw our menu, once again stated it was the wrong menu and two minutes later came back with a new menu citing that their chef was out for the evening. The new menu had nothing vegetarian on it, and was a selected offerings of the Drift menu. When I asked if there was anything vegetarian that could be offered I was told “we maybe could try to get you fries but we also have olives, if you want olives”. At this point we let the wait staff know that we’ll just go back to our room and order room service, so we’d take the cheque. About ten minutes later we got a plate of olives and fifteen minutes after that we got our cheque and a third member of wait staff saying “we could see about fries if you want those”. The lovely little touch to the end of the night was seeing an untold required auto gratuity of 20% applied to the bill, with an extra line to add a tip. The grand total for the evening with two drinks, zero service and the privilege of watching attentive service for every other patron was $64.86 charged to our room.

Some of the best cocktails in Halifax! If you get the opportunity, you should seize it however they are inconsistent with their hours. We were disappointed recently.

Had several days of wonderful experiences with Danielle and the team at BKS, who went over and above to make our experience, extra special! Will absolutely be back there, on our next stay in Halifax!

This place is stunning! Everything was so well thought out from the decor right down to the menu design. A very memorable and worthwhile experience!
