A Halifax staple, probably the cutest and most conscious shop East of Montreal. Absolutely love this place! Home decor, incense, clothing, jewelry, all sourced directly from relationships with family businesses in India, Nepal, Thailand, and Bali.

Fair prices, best place in town for earrings. The most expensive items are often clothes which are really well made and good quality. Love their handbags. Also perfect for gifts if you like to give meaningful things. My best friend loved the carving I gifted them. The staff is very friendly, but they can get really busy. You can also check out their instagram! You can shop there and see new, updates on shopping hauls and see prices for some of their items. Hands down amazing store. Does not disappoint!

Every time I walk into this sweet space I’m met with the kindest staff, greeting you in every corner, never too much and all ways just enough! If you’ve never walked into the Black Market in Halifax, you’re missing out on a city staple that shouldn’t be missed!

The owner and staff are just as nasty and trashy as the junk they try to sell. Horrible place. I will never go back there!

This store is an experience. Go in with an open mind to try and NOT buy everything as it's filled with garments, home accessories, jewelry, incense, etc. Everyone can find something to beautify themselves or their home or a gift for someone you like. Found a crochet/macrame pillow there that I've been thinking of for a few days.fingers crossed, it's still there.

Unique experience as soon as you walk in the door. Items you'll find no where else in Halifax. Friendly and well informed staff.

I fell in love with this place when I moved to Halifax for university in the late 80s and it's still awesome. Generations of cool kids have been buying cool stuff like jewelry, clothes, incense, home decor, etc.

A longtime jewel in Downtown Halifax and so unique it's something of a legend here. Be prepared to be dazzled by the colours and selection! Warm, friendly knowledgeable staff, too!

I have been going here as long as I can remember. It is one of the only happy memories of my teenage years/adult life. I always feel so welcome and loved and like I’m home when I come into this store. I love all the effort and hard work the owners put into making this such a special place. The employees are amazing, helpful and so welcoming. I recommend this to anyone who comes into Halifax. I certainly come every single time I’m in the city whether it’s a $10 trip… or a $100 trip. Love love love love this store so much.

This is absolutely my favorite store. Most of my home is decorated from here. Absolutely go check it out if you're downtown

Good products. One thing though: I understand that people steal a lot from here, but the employees very obviously thought I was trying to steal something. I had some items in my hand and was given a basket for them. Then an employee said, “You got her? ” right after. Very subtle. It’s not fun to feel targeted like that.

This place has a good vibe to it, I love it. I can browse this place for hours are not be disappointed, it's actually next to impossible to go in to the store and not walk out with anything, the staff are friendly also.

This is a very special place to me. It has very unique items that make great gifts for yourself and others, it's always a treat to look around. They are very affordable. Always different and it helps supports many less fortunate countries with their different wares.

So many things to find. Love the place, I find it especially great that they sell fair trade items there. Recommend visiting the place even I'd you aren't buying anything. And for people new to Nova Scotia, no this place isn't sketchy or illegal, it's perfectly fine?

Cheap knick knacks (jewelry, insense, sculptures, clothes) presumably sourced mostly from south/south easily Asia. Great destination for inexpensive unique gifts and jewelry including for piercings of all types. Those with environmental sensitivities or claustrophobia stay away. A fixture in Halifax for decades and worth a visit if this is your thing.

Great place to visit with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of interesting items to keep you busy from clothing to large Buddha replicas. Worth the visit, just make sure you keep an eye on the time if you’re in a schedule!

Really cool place with great prices. Lots of fun handmade things from India and other countries. Trinkets and home decor. I was surprised by their clothing selection. They have some really great, unique pieces, for really good prices. I like that you can get the same piece in a variety of colours and patterns.l

The Black Market is perfect for browsing. Beautifully patterned clothing with a wide range of styles and sizes. The jewelry is so unique and lovely. The ornaments are fun and creative and so is the staff!

Purchased A Chakra braclet for 8 dollars along with a henna kit. This store has so many interesting, reasonable priced items. For yourself or gifts great for souvenirs as well.

The Black Market is always one of my favorite spots to stop into when I'm in Halifax. The products are ever changing and I get behind their core beliefs as a business. I have multiple of their shawls, they are of fantastic quality; I use them year round. Staff are kind, knowledgeable and well versed in a products origins. Great place to pick up gifts of all sizes and price points.

One of my favourite places to visit in the city. Definitely a cult classic business for Halifax. The Black Market is full to the brim with such a crazy fun variety of a million things you'll want to buy, all at reasonable prices and ethically sourced. This is absolutely a must-visit for locals and travellers alike.

Small charming shop, with huge variety of products. It's very a good option for gifts or just spend a time searching for pretty or interesting things for yourself.

Whether you are shopping for your mum or friends from work, there's a little something for everyone in the store. The smells and trinkets remind me of being home.

The items are reasonably priced and certainly authentic. On shopping in bazaars in different parts of Asia, you are thrown back there because of the nature how things are arranged inside.

Black Market is one of those stores that is great for a girl's day out, because you could spend a good hour in there looking around for jewelry, incense, decorative pieces for your house or what have you.

A beautiful little shop that is always fun to browse around although it is often super busy. Pro-tip: Take your backpacks off while you're browsing their wares and stop knocking my glasses off.

This place smells amazing! Would highly recommend it if you're into incense, crystals, exotic wares, jewelry, or neat trinkets.

I go here to buy bulk incense, as they have a great deal on for 10 sticks of your choice. My only complaint is that you can't divide your incense by type, you must buy more than one bag and remember which one is which.

Such a lovely array of goods. If you are looking for a stone to fit a certain mood or bring forth something you think you might be lacking, this is a great place to check.

Hidden treasures (and right out in the open ones too) abound for the cool fashion minded ladies and those into mystical and exotic garments and baubles from far away lands. However if your a guy looking for some funky duds then buddy, until they improve their "Mens section" you're outta luck pal.
