Stellar dining experience as always. Cozy atmosphere, mouth watering cuisine, beautiful presentation and awesome service. What else can you ask for? This place is very busy and they do not take reservations during the summer. Still definitely worth the wait and highly recommended for addition to your "Must Dine At List". You will be disappointed!

We had the seafood bake special and it was amazing. Veggie spring rolls tossed in a maple curry sauce for an app and they were also really good. The other plates on the table looked amazing as well. Staff are very friendly and attentive.
My reason for only 4 stars was the comfort level of the booth. I was very uncomfortable with the seat and my back hurt by the end of my meal. My advice is to grab a table and enjoy the food!

Classy, great service and amazing food. I had lobster tortellini that's was creamy with lots of lobster in sauce. First time at the restaurant and was a very nice surprise. Next time in the area it will be out go to!

Very nice place for have quick lunch, perfect creamy soup, and tasty bbq caesar wrap. Recommend.

Great lunch spot while waiting for the ferry. Fast, friendly service. Sandwiches and salads were made with really fresh, delicious ingredients.

We had the steamed mussels, seafood chowder, and cajun seafood (pasta).

Steamed mussels were fresh and cooked to perfection in a white wine sauce! They also gave PLENTY of mussels.

The seafood chowder, again, had plenty of mussels, but also shrimp, and huge scallops! It was wicked tasty and probably the best seafood chowder I had in my entire trip to Nova Scotia (I tried 4 different places).

The cajun seafood was rich and heavily peppery (black pepper) which is EXACTLY how I like my food, but I could see why someone might be a bit put off by it. Not me though, I was loving every bite.

Service was exceptional thanks to Collette (?), I hope I spelled her name correctly.

Only caveat is that this establishment is cash-only, but isn't a huge deal as it's 30 feet from a bank.

Visiting from Winnipeg, MB. The seafood chowder is the best I ever had in my life! Great combo with the grilled cheese with bacon.

Delicious Cajun seafood medley and bacon wrapped scallop carbonara. Loved the seafood assortment in the Cajun dish. The lemon cake and skor cheesecake were extremely delicious as well. Will happily go back:) they were cash only and required reservation

The wife and I had dinner here. It is a reservation and cash only restaurant. The cash only is recent and I am not sure why.

I had the pork tenderloin with garlic mash and the wife had the maple chicken curry. Both meals were very flavourful and the portions were larger than expected. We both felt full at the end of the meal without a starter or a dessert. Both were about 25 dollars which in this day and age is reasonable price.

The staff were pleasant and quick. The tables were fairly well spaced out and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

My God. BSB has got it going on people. The chowder? I would give anything for. Every bite tastes like the ocean is having a party in your mouth. A subtle kiss from a lobster, a friendly hug from a scallop. Nothing beats it. Staff is so friendly I felt like handing in a resume and asking to join the BSB fam. But I'm busy and I've got more food to eat. Until we meet again black spoon bistro

Seriously one of the best restaurants on the island. It was a breath of fresh air, coming from Vancouver, where good food is really hard to find! Take it from this foodie: you don't want to miss the Black Spoon!

This restaurant is the best restaurant in the North Sydney area! The feature was blackened salmon and it was delicious with the roasted potatoes! We also had the chicken scalopini with garlic mashed - a must try! The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. All the staff was super friendly and accommodating with the menu.

My Dad said it was the best gluten free bun he's ever had.and it did look amazing! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals: Seafood chowder, chicken panini with garden salad (x2, awesome dressing), grilled cheese (not just any old grilled cheese!)

Stopped in while waiting for the Ferry and I was grateful I did. Great food thats delivered quickly with large portions. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

They also introduced me to Island Folk Cider House (I had the Rebel Rosé) which was exceptionally delicious.

It was wonderful. Our server, Jeremy, was very friendly, efficient and helpful. My Lobster Linguini was awesome.

Exceptional food. Great service. What the special is get it. We had the sea food special. Haddock, scallops, shrimp with a Basil cream sauce. Vegetable was, shredded carrots, zucchini, onion sauteed with garlic. Roasted potatoes and the garlic mashed ones, delicious. The Chef came out and asked how everything was, since first to order this. Stellar was our reply. Had a couple drinks and the spring roll app. I highly recommend this place.

This food was AMAZING! I had thier "trio" for lunch which changes daily. (Mine was garden salad, butternut squash soup and a grilled pulled pork sandwich)

Thier signage is not great, but from the pizza place on the corner you pass a subway and another pizza joint then you are there!

They have different menus for lunch and dinner and all seafood is delivered fresh each morning.

My mom had the grilled cheese and bacon sandwich with the seafood chowder. The chowder was flavourful and loaded with seafood, the sandwich was cheesy awesomeness (I stole bites.).

Delicious food here and friendly staff. John Ratchford and I had the veggie salad which was amazing, it had cooked onions and other root vegetables. I added scallops and shrimp but John Ratchford didn’t add meat.

My good friend Liz and he daughter both had wraps. The girl absolutely loved her wrap, and Liz loved the side chowder which had real chunks of big lobster and other seafood.

The child had a Perrier with lemon to drink, and we all had teas and coffees.

Wonderful food, great staff.

Everything about Black Spoon Bistro was wonderful! Our server Tori was funny, attentive and warm and every single dish the 4 of us ordered was delicious. I had the seafood chowder that had a ridiculous amount of seafood in it and the pan fried haddock was done perfectly. We misunderstood the special and thought it was vegetarian, but had chicken when it arrived. They jumped into action and hurried a vegetarian version out and packed up the chicken dish for the meat eaters in the group to take home. Many places will cut corners and just pick out ingredients or toss the mistake, but to fix it immediately and try to minimize food waste is amazing. Some of the best food and service we had on a long trip through Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, worth the stop by far!

Excellent food and service with local seafood and craft brews. Loved my grilled vegetable salad and Cajun seafood pasta. A great spot in North Sydney.

Wonderful sea food restaurant in north Nova Scotia. Good food and polite staff. Portions are just right in relation with the price. I would recommend Black Spoon.

Fantastic dinner, great service! Make a reservation. All 4 dinners were delicious. Artichoke dip was piping hot, bread was fresh. The drizzle on the toasted bread for the artichoke dip was so tasty. Will 100% go again.
