Bras d'Or Lakes Inn

Although my stay here was unplanned and last minute, this inn was a pleasant surprise. The king bed was extremely comfortable. The room was very clean, has all you need, and is modestly quaint. Desk attendant was friendly and very helpful.

This place is a diamond in the rough.
Seems like a hometown restaurant but with BIG CITY tastes.

The dining area has quaint tables outfitted with elegant black and white tablecloth’s with wine glasses, water goblets, and cutlery, all laid out for you and waiting. The view overlooking the entrance to the Bras d’Or Lake is breathtaking from where you sit.

The staff were very attentive, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu.

The bread basket (with EPIC tea biscuits) were hugged in a black napkin with pats of real butter softening in the basket. These were the best biscuits I’ve ever had and if they put fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream on them in season -I’d pay good money for that!

The main meal presentations were mouthwatering. When I say it made my mouth water it is an understatement!
The flavour burst in my mouth and made my eyes close.
Soooo good.

I’d say with out a doubt the chef (Jason) knows what he is doing and has equally talented staff behind the scene.

The portions were perfect and filling enough but when you peek at the dessert menu you’ll find the room.
(Hollow-leg-anyone? - yep right here!)

The in house made ice-cream is melt-in-your-mouth-amazingly-delicious and with the home made warm brownies with hot fudge sauce made me (well Ya-know)

All in all this is a stop I will go out of my way for and YOU should do the same.

I've driven passed this unassuming spot countless times. But a couple of weekends ago I Finally stopped in and was blown away!
Gorgeous space!
Beautifully appointed!

Service was top notch!
Food was delicious!
Prices were incredibly reasonable.

Word to the wise, do yourself a favour on your next drive through Saint Peter's, leave early and stop here for a bite of Great food, and a view you'll never forget. Say "Hi! " to Wendy and the staff. They'll take great care of you.

A wonderful recent experience at Bras d'Or Lakes Inn! The staff were all very cordial and friendly, always accommodating. The food at the restaurant was amazing and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Highly recommended to anyone travelling through Cape Breton!

We came in for brunch a few minutes after they opened and were asked if we had a reservation—we didnt. They said one was highly recommended and we would have to wait a moment, no problem. But when we were seated there were only three other tables of people in the entire restaurant (two of three and one of eight). A couple of tables came in after us. The service was slow, although the complimentary biscuits were nice. We ended up waiting an hour and twenty minutes for our food and only got it then because we told them we had to cancel our order to go checkout of our cottage. They said they were behind because of the big table ahead of us… They brought out our food in takeout containers with barely an apology and no discount. We ate the soggy hollandaise-soaked food in our car with no napkins or cutlery since none were provided.

Very clean room, the hallways smelt clean, very friendly staff, pleasant respectful guests, pretty stars at night, few wild life visitors (deer and birds)

Good customer service, very kind down to earth people I found here. Just genuine nice. Cute cabin look to the rooms made it feel very cozy! Would definitely stay again!

A lot of us popped in for a bite and a couple of pints. Haha, this place's food and beverages will definitely add a bit of a belly to you but everything in me says to heck with that nonsense because everything was so tasty.

What an amazing little gem this is. The food was top notch (I was there with a friend who is a chef who agreed) and the staff went over the top to keep us happy.

Wonderful little Inn, well kept rooms, friendly staff, reasonable prices, even let me stay a bit longer than check out time, when I was running late!

Wonderful stay and the breakfast was so savory! The home made brown butter was to die for. Loved the lodge/cabin feel off the place.

Amazing spot. The staff were so sweet, with hot tub already bubbling and a super clean cosy cabin waiting for our arrival. Make sure to play around on the paddleboards and kayaks and to take in the beautiful view of the lake. Would 100% stay here again! Thanks ️

The chowder was first rate.my family enjoyed our supper very much.service excellent.

Don’t believe the marketing - this place is grim and shabby, with no redeeming charm or quaintness. Be sure the avoid the sad “tourist attractions” nearby as well.

Wow! Been here 2 weeks and kicking myself for not eating here sooner. Menu's problem was everything looked DELICIOUS. Everything I tried was as good as it looked.
Smoked brisket sandwich with the warm goat cheese salad on the side was spectacular, and not even among the recommendations from staff.
Also tried a bite of the house made lobster ravioli.fresh and scrumptious.
My only complaint is the hours are only from 4-8pm.
There was live music inside, but the view from the outside patio was too nice to pass up.

The manager was in the mood one night at the servers. They were slow took 2 hours to get a meal. My wife looked at me and said this is the worst hotel we ever been at. I said to her will never come back here again they have no respect they don't know what they're doing.it was like you couldn't do nothing but I guess couldn't believe it and witnessed that night how movie the manager was towards her servers.

Rooms were very clean with coffee, soaps and shampoos. Restaurant was amazing food. We were a group of 3 couples on motorcycles. Accommodated parking around back. My friend and I did Yoga on the back deck and went kayaking on the beautiful Bras D’Or Lakes.

Great spot to visit for that special occasion or if you just want to stop in for a cold beer!
The food is A+ and with good size portions.

We were a large group of couples on motorcycles pitched to use the restaurant on site. Reservation was at 7: 45. Our table of 10 and another of 7 quickly became the only tables occupied. Apparently they had a dine and doc boat at the launch which was much more important. The table of 7 finally got served and was out in 2 hours. Many of the table of 10 left upset after 2 hours without even being served appetizers yet, let alone a meal. My wife was asked to pay our drinks anyways which she did. I wouldn’t have as I had beers back in the room that I could have drank for free (no room on bikes to bring home)

This was our first vacation to Cape Breton and what a way to end it we rented the cottage and it was so nice and the staff are so friendly we can't wait to comeback

I haven't stayed in the hotel but i have eaten in the restaurant and ordered delivery during the Covid crisis! What can i say? Nick is the best - just ask him for his opinion on what to have and he will make the best suggestions for you! Wendy manages the place and she is like a drill Sgt! Keith is the chef and he works wonders! So whether you are staying in the hotel, going to the restaurant or ordering in - those 3 will do everything to make certain that you are happy! The Bras D'or Lakes Inn is a magical place and you will love it - trust me!

Nice and charming restaurant with ample space. Excellent food with the freshest mussels you can find in Nova Scotia and delectable snow crab stuffed sole. Highly recommend.

Always DELICIOUS food.service is slow or would have been 5 stars. Took over 1 hour to get 6 meals!

We came to cape breton for a romantic weekend and went to the restaurant for supper and nick was awesome but we had the food she had lobster and I had lamb ribs.the wife has been sick for past 2 hours and not in mood to even leave cottage for a fire and the lamb had no flavor it wasn't worth the 100.00 dollars I payed and won't go back to this restaurant how do you have a good weekend if your sick.

This is a very beautiful wooden style Motel and one cottage. The interior is a fine example of great wooden workmanship and the warm feeling you get when inside, recently changed ownership has not done anything but better the environment. One small cabin behind where you can go out on the deck and slide Into a warm cozy hot tub just waiting to accommodate someone sipping a drink and watching the sunrise, or rent one of the clean interior rooms. Fine food menu to cater to all appetites.
