Budget Car Rental

Recently rented at the Halifax Airport. I booked through Costco car rental for the best price. All staff from pick-up return were so pleasant and knowledgable. In a world where customer service is lacking, most of the time, i could not have received better service and friendlier people, so thank you. My rental was the KIA seltos and i loved it. It did great with the windy, up and down roads of Cape Breton!

The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and efficient at her job. Although the vehicle I had reserved wasn't available she had another for replacement. No extra charge and even an upgrade. The gas mileage on upgrade was as expected for the type of vehicle. Returning was quick and easy. Would go back again for another rental.

The service here was friendly even though the flight was late and it was getting close to closing time for Budget. The car was spotlessly clean even with 69000 kms. The return process was quick and accurate.

Horrible value for money. $1,300 for a tiny, boxy, noisy Hyundai Venue for 5.5 days. It was a base model.

One month prior I rented a fully loaded Jeep Wagoneer at Enterprise at the same airport for six days and paid the same price!

Huge disappointment! No thanks Budget Halifax Airport!

Quite possibly the worst rental experience I've ever had, especially after the novelty of choosing a 'mystery rental' vehicle. I was actually pondering the kind of vehicle I might get to drive. Sure, I was hoping for a Tesla or Jaguar, but I would have found a Prius, Polestar or Civic just as interesting (if not as much fun). I got a Nissan Altima, which looked the goods, and had plenty of space and grunt for the driving I needed to do in Nova Scotia. I asked about the potential to extend the rental, in case I ended up changing my plans, and was told that all I needed to do was call. What I wasn't told was that an extension would cost a lot more per day than the original rental. Further, despite both calling the agent (and leaving a voicemail), and following-up with an email using the address on the business card I was given, I did not receive a response from either, even when I explained that the car was experiencing a number of electrical faults. So when a tire pressure fault showed up on the morning of the required return, I stopped to check the tires, and then at a gas station confirmed that the pressures were within a psi or two of recommended on the car. When returning the car, an agent was already busy with another returner, so to have gone through all this, explained to the returning agent, and to have then also been charged 80% of a daily, full-sized vehicle fee for returning the car 3 minutes late - for checking their faulty vehicle. Wow! To say that I'm incensed is an understatement.

From pick up to drop off, we had a great experience with Budget. Our car was clean and filled with gas. It got us where we needed/wanted to go so all good!

Wasn’t going to use Budget but they were the only agency with cars available. Not the cheapest rates, but I showed up and after discussing classes of cars they had, they kicked in an upgrade to a Camry. At the end of my reservation I returned the car but forgot an item in the trunk- a set of Bose headphones! I had low hopes of getting them back, but the staff turned it in and I was easily able to find and leave a message for the lost and found department while I continued to travel for the rest of the evening. I left a message and the lost and found staff member gave me a call with the good news as soon as they were open the next day. I asked them how they normally handle forgetful idiots and they said I could pick up the item in person or they could mail it to me. Since I have colleagues travelling through Halifax regularly I just gave the name and number of the person doing the picking up and the counter staff made it happen. Charles at the Halifax Airport Budget Rental desk was professional, polite, and so helpful. He helped me choose a car that suited my driving preference (and even joked that he didn't have a BMW for me), and he just made the renting process simple and fast. I felt the price was more reasonable than others I checked for comparable cars and durations. I will definitely use Budget again and will probably switch my business account there.

The desk personnel was very efficient, while at the same time they were very conversational carrying on witty banter. This made the experience of picking up my rental quick and enjoyable. The ease of dropping off the vehicle is extraordinary, since within 15 seconds of exiting my vehicle I was met with a representative, handed over the keys and was on my way to meet my flight. Had I been running late, this level of service would have been invaluable!

Easy booking on line. Quick pickup and drop off. Staff was refreshingly friendly and very helpful!

The staff was welcoming, worked quickly to find us a car after another rental agency lost our reservation. We were stranded and they solved our problem quickly and at a reasonable price

Pick up & drop off process was very quick. Hyundai Sonata was a surprise "mystery" car win. All push button with great safety features. Pleasure to drive in city & highway traffic.

Was provided a Malibu. Great car but the heated seats and remote start dis not work. That was disappointing in the cold morning. Fantastic service.

They switched cars when a pressure crack suddenly showed on windshield without any problems. The return was fast, convenient and efficient. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Price charged for the vehicle was fair.

Excellent customer service at the Halifax airport location. Received the vehicle we reserved, on time, clean & ready to go. Check-in to drive away time took a total of 20 minutes.
Had to return it early (Hurricane Fiona), and everyone went out of their way to help us out.

Beware hidden costs for Budget Car Rentals that can almost double rental fees. Beware of "complimentary" offers which may not be as they appear. Pay close attention when renting from Budget.

Our rental experience with Budget was in a word.easy. Person who dealt with us on pickup was concise with information, helpful with explaining options, did not feel pushed into purchasing anything we did not want or need. Returning car was just as easy and quick. Really liked the option of not having to refill tank and that the gas was 3 cents less than at the pumps.

Great experience renting car at Halifax airport. I got BMW X3 with no questions asked. Return was easy as well. Will recommend to all.

I was very disappointed with my service at this location. I arrived in around 9pm with still 3 hours of travel on my trip. The car I was given had many dents and scratches on the side and I was uncomfortable taking it - worried about having issues with my return as my drop off was to a different budget location (and I have had similar issues in the past). I asked for a different car and while there were no more in that class I asked if I could pay more for a different vehicle (which they did have available). The woman at the service desk was difficult and rude and made me feel as though this was a ridiculous request. It ended up taking me more than 35 minutes to get my vehicle and with that kind of service I wouldn't be likely to use this budget location again.

Excellent service and vehicle! Seamless pick up and drop off. Mystery car turned out to be an Audi Q5 and very good on gas! Recommend booking your vehicle for any of the Atlantic Provinces 6-12 months in advance in order to secure one.

Flying from Vancouver for driving vacation in the maritimes. Had reserved toyata corolla, was given gas guzzling mustang gt. Which, as it turned out, had extremely unsafe front tires.no rubber at all on the insides where you couldn't see it. One Tire blew on remote hwy, Budget was absolutely no help, had to pay out of pocket tow charge, new Tire, 5 days stranded and lost holiday time. Tire shop advised not to drive further on other bad tire, but had to, slowly drove back to airport drop-off. Budget said too bad, tires met regulations, so we pay everything. Tire shop testified otherwise, it's not over yet.but beware.you're expected to crawl under the car to inspect when you rent it. Thankfully we didn't blow the tire and go over a cliff.

Highly recommend. The rental process was easy and very good customer service. The staff has answered all the questions and released without any trouble. The dropoff was even better.

Be cautious!
This location had very poorly maintained vehicles… after inspecting multiple, we finally found one safe to drive. The paperwork was “re-done” and they ended up sneaking in a $15/day up charge AND pushed my return time up to 0730 without me noticing (or signing the final paperwork for that matter). I’m left with an additional $400 of charges I did not ask for. Renter beware!

We rented a Hyundai Santa Fe for a week of travel in Nova Scotia. Upon receiving the vehicle we noticed that the interior was filthy. I vacuumed the rental before we left the parking garage. An older attendant took pictures and made a note. He asked if we wanted to change vehicles. Out of our own convenience and time spent vacuuming we kept the vehicle. It was a great experience with the staff member at the Budget counter and the car itself met expectations beyond the interior. Will use Budget again.

We had an excellent experience with our rental from Budget at the Halifax Airport in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. We were pleasantly surprised with the vehicle, it was larger than what we thought we would get, but more impressed with the staff at the Halifax Airport. The young lady who checked us in was amazing. We were vacationing from Houston, Texas and our flight was delayed 3 times from Toronto to Halifax and she offered to stay late for us so we could pick up our car. The car was great with no issues at all and when we dropped off the car at the airport again the attendant was super nice and talked with us about our vacation. Budget's staff at the Halifax Airport are awesome and all deserve a raise! Highly recommend this Budget car rental location.

Extremely bad customer service at drop off. Misinformed regarding costs ie was never told it would cost same for 5 or 7 day rental until i dropped off vehicle early. Was told fee for different drop off would be removed from bill and was not. Over $1309. For 6 days! That was the most economical option

Amazing experience! The staff at this location were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They went out of their way to help me and my two kids. I would recommend booking with them.

Quick and painless pick-up and drop-off of vehicle. The vehicle was clean and in excellent shape with up-to-date technologies. Charles was an excellent customer service representative and gave some great suggestions for our trip. Overall a great experience.

We used Budget car Rental twice in the past two weeks. Picked up a car in Orlando had long wait for car pick up ~1.5 hours. Drop off was very easy and convenient. No unexpected charges. Had great customer service in Halifax upon pick up with Stephen. Car was great, got upgraded to a 4x4 when we arrived in a snowstorm and were trying to get home after missing a flight connection.

The staff helped us to install the car seat and shoued us how to drive the ca r. The card offered was excellent for our trip very reliable and great for nova scotia roads.

Charles at the front desk was awesome - fantastic customer service. The price was reasonable and the vehicle was reliable and clean (and had apple carplay: D).

Awesome vehicle for a great price! I reserved a midsize and walked away with a new, fully loaded Ram 1500 Laramie. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Asked for satellite radio and didn’t get it over 4 days. Called the next morning and was told it sometimes doesn’t connect and would have it connected in 15-20 minutes; never happened. My own vehicle has satellite radio and I do enjoy that feature.

Especially when we have some minor problems in original car, they immediately upgrade my car, which provides us with wonderful driving across the Atlantic Canada during 22 days. Very competitive pricing, easy online booking system, and always manage to get our first car type preference. The gentleman that assisted us at Halifax Airport was incredibly helpful, friendly and went out of his way to get us the car we wanted.
