Buta ramen

The place was nice but i don’t recommended for the food. Too oily and no salt at all. And customer service is not good. No much variations if you have good ramen before this place. Not recommending

Fond memories here from my time at SMU. Weekly Ramen with friends with excellent dishes. Tantanmen and Tonkutsu are among my favorite healthy dishes at this location. Some of their appetizers are great too!

My one of the favorite place for veg ramen noodles. I also tried two more veg options. Outstanding flavours. On each table in dinning area, they have a chilli oil, dry garlic flacks and pickled ginger. You can also ask for extra chilli if you like spicy kick.

There are much better Ramen places in Halifax.

The Octopus wasn't worth at all for the price.
The Ramen Had more stuffed noodles than anything else, and it was very sticky, low quality noodles. The broth wasn't that impressive for both the Ramens either.

Overall, Not worth the price.

The ramen was good. It lacks umami though. It needs more soul; it was kind of two dimensional. I'm not mad, I'm just a little disappointed. I did appreciate that it wasn't ridiculously salty like traditional ramen is.

Buta Ramen is my favorite spot for ramen in Halifax. They are consistent, food is always good. No matter if you eat in or get take out. Parking is challenging but it's downtown; it's always a challenge. I love their veggie ramen because they put so many vegetables. It's delicious every time.

Very Good Food, the Seafood Ramen Bowl is Delicious. The Service is excellent, it's a place we always come to and recommend when Visiting Halifax.

After my experience at Noodle War Room here in Halifax, I went into this place to have another ramen experience. Totally different - for me a clear winner: clean place, very good ramen (hot and spicy)! Hmmm!

Great portion sizes, but "extra spicy" needs to be waaaayyyy more spicy. Didn't taste a bit of spice when I ordered the tantamen extra spicy. I would still recommend dining at this restaurant.

Customer service is amazing. Called to double check my order because my husband has an allergy. Really appreciate the kind staff!

Came here hoping I could get some food similar to back home, it was nice but isn't the same taste (atleast for the tantanmen) so all in all it's a solid restaurant and semi fills your craving for japanese food.
Prices are a bit high but nothing insanely high, keep in mind that if you like your food on the spicy side the provided chili oil probably won't be enough so ask for the food to be made spicy.
Atmosphere is really nice and comfortable came here with a vegetarian friend who had quite a few options to pick from.

I loved absolutely everything here. Their take on edamame was heckin good, the spicy ramen was fantastic, and the staff super friendly. Wish I could take this restaurant back home with me?

I used to LOVE this place. Particularly the Nagasaki Champon ramen. Its used to have squid, shrimp and mussels, with a bit of pork belly. The new version no longer has any shellfish, the squid was replaced by a cheap imitation (pork intestines- and not even really good intestines) and the pork belly is no longer seasoned/ seared, just boiled. And because of the short cuts the broth has lost a lot of its richness and texture.

The toko yaki was under done leaving the centre wet under cooked batter.yes, I've had toko yaki many times, I know the center is not supposed to be dry- but this was a very raw/ wet batter.

Whats surprising is when it was "good" was during the take-only / lock down phase.
Very disappointed. This was mall food court level AT BEST.

I’ve tried local noodle bistros on my trips to Japan and Korea. The noodle bowls here taste more sliding on the Korean side IMAO. Don’t get me wrong; it’s still good for the flavours and portions. It’s spicy yum and ramen’s chewy in texture. Just may flip the experience slightly if you’re expecting something more Japanese.

You know a place is good when you find yourself on the regular day dreaming about the place/their food, I love their ramen and appetizers. They keep the menu simple which makes it easy to order/not overwhelmed with choices! The servers are so friendly and the food comes so fast every time, love this place and their yummy food. You will be stuffed after a bowl of ramen here, and the price is great for how full you feel after!

One of the best ramen restaurants I’ve been too, I got the spicy ground pork ramen with medium spice, the chicken karage and the matcha cheese cake with tea. Was amazing, spice level was perfect and the flavor was amazing. Will recommend to anyone who wants good ramen in Halifax!

Tonkotsu ramen! It tasted close enough to original tonkotsu ramen from Japan, it was really good

Amazing ramen. The focus is in the name, several options for ramen, all delicious. Food was fresh and spicy!

Ordered two bowls on ramen and two cokes. Only revived one and two cokes. When I called in the girl working said I was wrong and there was two in the bag. Then she said she would call me back because she’s to busy to take care of this. Very unprofessional way to handle customers.

Great little ramen place!
Friendly staff, good food (tako yaki had nice amount of octopus, tonkotsu ramen had good flavour, not too salty), quaint atmosphere.
Definitely recommend if you’re downtown!

This is my favorite ramen and I'd like to go back to check out more of their menu. The service is excellent. They explain everything and are really fast.

Had the Tantanmen ramen. Picked it up for takeout while in Halifax and it was one of the best I had. I don’t have high expectations when doing ramen for takeout as it has to endure some travel time but they packaged it fantastic and the egg was still perfectly runny. I was very impressed. Will definitely order when I’m in Halifax again.

On my third meal from them! Some of the best food I've ever had, would definitely reccomend! Servers are always kind and food stays nice and hot for takeout! Beautiful atmosphere inside. 10/10!

I really liked the staff were attentive and quick service was provided. Had great meal loved the ramen and sweet edamame beans. They have limited menu but still have gluten free options. Although I find it's bit pricy, I would still visit again.

Great ramen place! The noodles are absolutely lovely, just the right amount of chew with lovely broth and inclusions. Clean stylish, affordable, and great quality food. I loved the selection of vegetarian options.

Great for a quick lunch or a lovely date night. Warms the heart in the cold weather.

Fantastic vegetarian Ramen! Its so flavourful! My only issue is, I wanted more when I had finished haha. I would recommend!

The staff are friendly! I used to frequent here more often before Covid.

They are very accommodating. I had inquired about taking something out of the Ramen, (nothing serious) and I didn’t want to be disrespectful to the chefs. The staff were kind and assured me they wanted to make sure I was happy with my food.

First time dining at Buta Ramen, and first time ever having Ramen. I ordered the Nagasaki Champion, and my partner had the Tantanmen. To start we had the Chicken Karaage. All of it was amazing, so good! The atmosphere was cute and cozy. All of the staff members who served us were friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. The food came out lightening quick and it was busy! Will definitely be back again!

I went to Buta the other day and the waiter accidentally gave us the wrong order but it was still delicious so no complaints at all. Then the manager gave us 35% off the bill for the mixup which was more than I ever expected.

Good portion, different appetizer options, and availability to choose noodle type and spice level. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, the vegetable croquette, and the chicken karrage. The tonkatsu in the ramen is so soft and melt in your mouth. The karrage had a different coating than we were familiar with, but it was still good. The veggie croquette was cooked perfectly with a slight crispiness on the outside and really soft and warm centre. The service was prompt and the server checked up on us and topped off our water frequently. Definitely my go-to place for ramen in the city.

Interesting experience this evening. First off the food was good. The karaage was over battered. The ramen was delicious. It was what happened after we were done that was off putting. I noticed a mouse running around the dining room. I informed the staff which resulted in absolutely no reaction. I guess the mouse is a regular there and I need to get over it. My SO is terrified of mice so we had to leave with her drink half finished. No apology no nothing.
I guess if you’re not comfortable eating your food with a mouse running around you don’t eat here.

Did not enjoy the food. The ramen was not well executed. Flavors bland and not true to the dishes.
Might be passable if you haven't had much experience with ramen, but it will disappoint otherwise. You could probably make better at home with a little research and quality ingredients.

Strike one: Nagasaki Champon here is actually a “jjampong”, which is entirely misleading, but not surprising since there are Korean items on the menu, and even the server said “here’s your jjampong”. Strike two: service questionable. Ordered cold sake, server forgot and was reminded, and was brought to us hot. House sake: good value. Avoid outrageously priced bottled sake.

As I asin culture lover I really like this place, Food is good, the places is very nice and I really like the short menu. The main plate on buta ramen is (of course) ramen, I will recommend you to try the spicy one.

Great food and even better service! Staff noticed me as soon as I came in and promptly got me a table (glad to see they implement contact tracing if you choose to eat in). The server was very polite and always came around every 10 minutes or so to check up on everyone and refill water glasses - I never had to ask for anything or stand up to get her attention. Really appreciated that.

My meal arrived quickly and was also really good. If you wish, you can request your dish to be made spicy (even if the menu doesn't say so). The background music is pretty cool too. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back if I had the chance.

Everything was awesome, side dishes and all. I had fabulous kimchi, great spicy and sweet edamame, takoyaki as it should be and a bowl of yaki udon with a bit of spice. You have to go there!

Came here while visiting from Toronto. Honestly incredible ramen, comparable quality to Japan, broth was very flavourful without being overly salty/oily. I had the tonkatsu and the miso (a bit spicy). Highly recommend! Also super sweet and attentive staff!

Came here with last minute reservation. Even though they were busy, they were doing their best to accomodate us, which i found really lovely. Great service.

The food was great, the soup got a bitter after-taste after a while, but nothing serious. I liked the vibe of the place. Great experience overall:) perfect if you have a sudden urge of ramen
