Cole Harbour Canadian tire. Back in December 2022 I brought my Dodge Charger and my mother’s Kia Soul in for tire install, balance, wheel alignment and transmission flush on the Charger. Heading home I noticed a shake in the Charger and it was pulling to one side. I checked the air pressure when I got home and they were all different and none were correct. So just had an alignment and tires installed and air pressure wasn’t set. One of the first things you do is set the air pressure in tires before doing your alignment. Car had to go back and they said the tire guy must have figured the alignment guy was going to set the air pressure. (They both should have) Glad they weren’t working on my brakes. They then tried to say there was no way the alignment and tire balance were off but once they rechecked it after I insisted they found the balance and alignment were both off and had to correct it. I picked up the Soul and the exact same thing happened. Had to bring the car back the alignment was off and the tire balance which they refused to fix because they weren’t new tires. They blamed the shake on the tires. I took the car elsewhere and had the front tires rebalanced and the shake was gone. Both times I complained I was treated very rudely by the Service Writer and Service Manager, both very unprofessional and definitely shouldn’t be in those roles. I can say this because not only am I a Service Manager for a Volvo Dealer (heavy equipment) dealing with customers with 1/2 million dollar machines and I would never or allow my staff to speak to customers in the manner the Canadian tire service staff does to its customers. I’m also a 20 year licensed automotive technician myself, owned and operated 3 automotive shops for 13 years and opened my first shop at 18 years old so I have a few years experience. I found the level of service and repairs to be grossly subpar.
Jan. 2024 a year later, I hit a rock in my driveway and it put a crack in my Charger’s transmission pan and the fluid started leaking. I pulled the car in my garage at home and found the transmission fluid leaking out of the car wasn’t clean red fluid but the old dirty original amber fluid that comes in the car from factory on the 8speed transmission. I took a sample of the fluid to Canadian tire and showed the Service Writer who said so what that doesn’t mean anything. Then the Service Manager came out and looked at the fluid and said oh that’s because there is left over fluid on the walls of the transmission and that could have turned 12 litres of bright red fluid to amber. They clearly didn’t remember a year prior I told them I was a technician myself and I then told them I’ve done probably 200 transmission flushes back when I was a tech at a local Ford dealer for 5 years and I have never seen new red fluid turn any color after a flush except red. A flush expels all old fluid and replace with new. At this point the Service Writer extremely rudely said well if you are a technician why didn’t you do the flush yourself. Don’t know too many techs with a transmission flush machine in their basement. I then tried to explain to the Service Manager that they probably didn’t let the transmission warm up to open the thermostatic valve in the transmission and all they flushed was the transmission cooler. I told
Him I just need to know what your going to do it needs to be corrected. He said they are going to do nothing for me and when I asked to speak to his boss or the owner he told me to call the 1800 customer support line. He even wrote the number down wrong for me. They said there was nothing they could do so if they could have the owner give me a call, never called. My next step is small claims court where I will show the video of the old amber fluid coming out of the car and is not the 12 litres of expensive transmission fluid I brought for them to do the flush.
Short of it is the staff and techs there are either incompetent or they charged for a flush and kept the fluid and that would be theft. Either way I definitely do not recommend this Canadian tire

Bought a battery for my car and it was defective, brought it back and even the service department checked it and agreed it was defective, i asked for my money back because I had bought another battery for my vehicle due to canadian tire being closed when I tried to return the battery and they told me they can only do an exchange for another battery and when I explained to them I would have no use for another battery and I would just like my money back the excuse was because it was put on the terminals of the vehicle they can't do it. If that is the case then they should check the batteries before it's being sold, I can understand if I damaged the product but if it is defective then a full return should be made. I will no longer shop at that or any Canadian tire, it is sad that small companies have more respect for their customers then these multi million dollar companies very disappointed

Poor assistance from staff, unorganized items, misleading placement of sale prices. Poor store layout, poor cart quality.
25 July 2023 2:26
Wasted my time running to different stores trying to get work boots. If they says there 1-3 at another store don’t just take their word. Phone the other store before wasting time driving around the city

I believe the costumer service woman (short black hair and glasses around 50 to 60) apparently she is a manager and is an absolute idiot we were chase out the store by the customer service lady screaming about having to pay for something she was talking about purse decor that was on my girlfriends purse for over a year and then tried to request a receipt even tho it’s from another store and wouldn’t obviously have a receipt not the most professional customer service department and definitely not a professional manager (we called head person and found out manager was making her own policies)

Canadian Tire is great. Also dog friendly which is fantastic for our fur babies.
However, 4 stars because the annoying people that don't easily take "no" for an answer that try to get you to sign up for a membership. Other than that, great.

Lastly, out of many places, the only one that sells butane lighter fluid refill.

Good staff.plubic washrooms are messy, staff does try to keep it clean. Store is layout really well.

I needed something in a case. The first person I asked didn't have keys, sent me to the service desk, the person there asked someone working there to help me out and then walked away. That person didn't even acknowledge me. I was going to go to customer service but and try a 4th staff member but at that point I just took my business elsewhere.

I've had issues all throughout the summer, I could never find air/oil filters they said they had in stock.

I wanted to buy an item. Unfortunately it was locked in a case, and there was no one I could find to access it for me.
08 January 2023 15:57
On a whole, I like Canadian Tire. This Canadian Tire however, has anything you could even think of stealing either out back or locked up. So half the time you cannot buy it because the young staff do not know where it is located.or you cannot find someone to open the case the thing you want is locked in. I for one, do not enjoy being walked to the front counter because they think I will steal the 5 dollar 12volt splitter they opened the case to give me. I recommend going to any other Canadian Tire in the city. Maybe the theft levels are very high in Cole harbour, but I hate shopping here. Also, the older staff in this store may be the crankiest bunch of people I have ever had to deal with.even before Covid.

Worst Canadian Tire in the HRM. Front cashier sees you paying at car parts. Demands to see receipt. Well you were watching the whole time so obviously you don't trust your employees on cash because you feel you are superior to everyone. Most associates in this location are unable to help you find anything. Better to take the drive to Sackville. Don't waste your time going here. Don't bother calling corporate number as they don't want to hear anything. If an employee charges towards you and demands a receipt even though she watched the whole transaction.there is a major problem. Suggestion.get employees you can trust.
28 December 2022 3:43
I don't understand why employees have to sit there in the mornings and watch their watches for that exact time of 8am not 7: 59.
Management if you want to up sell open doors earlier and bring it to the customers attention that cash does not open until 8am. Think of what else I might buy if I have extra time on hand.

Service was great. Wish I could give a 5 for that
However, I purchased an item for in-store pick up. I was unable to link my points card at time of purchase. I was planning on using points to pay for the order. When I went to pick it up, I requested a refund and to repurchase with points. I let them know my intentios before the refund. When the price rang up to purchase it was almost double the price. They refused to sell it at the price I had just paid. So I ended up leaving with nothing, an utter waste of time.

Terrible service, every staff I spoke to was rude and not helpful. My baby fell sideways in the cart seat because I couldn’t find a cart that had working straps/ buckle. The aisles were too small for the cart to turn properly, which had me rolling on 3 wheels with my baby sitting in there every time we turned a corner. And overall the store was nasty.

Absolutely terrible experience. Needed some help from customer service but employees not trained to do a simple search in their system. Wasted an hour of my time because they couldn't figure it out, but then closing time came and they were not willing to take one extra minute to help. Told me there was nothing they could do and that it wasn't their fault, acted like I was a big inconvenience asking them to do their job. I called another store and they were able to find the needed info in 5 minutes over the phone. I had to waste another hour of driving to another store, but at least they were friendly, trained and wanted to help. Big thanks to customer service at Clayton Park Canadian tire. Avoid Cole Harbour Canadian Tire at all cost!

I made my very first online order with Canadian Tire in Cole Harbour. When I went to pick it up I was told to go to the automotive section to get my online order. It wasn't there but the employee was very helpful and took me to where the bins were and he also helped me find my particular order. Now that I have the hang of it I will order online from them more frequently. It was a good experience and the employee was extremely helpful and patient with me.

A familiar place in a new city. Very different from the Thunder Bay store but well laid out with friendly staff.

Zero stars! My wife took her Vehicle to Canadian tire service department to have a motor vehicle inspection done. Once they had a look at it they called with a list of things it needed a couple of the things were Break shoes a caliber and the emergency break replaced. After they said it was done she picked it up and The Canadian tire mechanics did more damage to the vehicle than fix it. They broke bolts and left them, they put seized parts back in, they even left the emergency break cables and abs censers hanging and not hooked up. The mechanics who work there shouldn’t call themselves mechanics there a joke! I wouldn’t trust Canadian tire with any vehicle and we will never use them again. I absolutely unequivocally do not recommend sending your vehicle to Canadian tire. Canadian tire mechanics and their service manager are a joke.

Can’t speak for other locations but this one. I’ve taken all three of my vehicles and (Toyota sienna, Rav 4 and Kia soul) there for general maintenance brakes/suspension/exhaust. The works always done fast. It’s always done professionally, and the price has always been fair. Cars cost money to own and repair. I’ve had some of the repairs crossed referenced with a separate garage on price and repair requested and have never been told anything different at this garage that the other garage was telling me. Excellent place to have your car fixed/maintained.

Exactly what you would expect from Canadian Tire! Had what I needed in the isle it said it was in
03 October 2022 18:05
Was just ok. The place felt barren of staff and some product. I knew what I was coming in for and got a deal on what I did obtain so all good.
12 July 2021 5:02
If what tou want is sitting out for you to grab it's just like any other Canadian Tire. If you go there for anything that is locked up you may as well drive to the crossing because there's very few floor associates and the ones you find will just page the 1 person working that department.

They'll never show up and you'll leave save yourself the trouble and get your socket from another store

This evening, 17 April 2021, I checked online for tires, they were in stock.

I had a family member attend the Forrest Hills Canadian Tire to pay for the tires.

I called the Forrest Hills Canadian Tire at 5: 38pm and the voice message advised the store was open until 6pm on this day, 17 Apr 2021.

Family member arrived at the store at 5: 40pm, while in was on the phone.

I was told that the shop workers had left and went home, no one could get the tires. The phone call I was on finished at 5: 47pm. The people who were working at this store left and went home when the store was open for business until 6pm.

As a customer I relied on the service this store provides, in this situation I was let down by the staff who decided they did not need to provide a service that was during the stores operating hours.

I would expect that the managers, manage their departments to provide customers with substantial customer service. In this situation someone should be held responsible for the decision to stop providing customer service because it's close to the end of their shift. It disappointing to say the least. I would understand if the store closed at 5: 45pm but 20 minutes is more than enough time to complete the transaction they were there for.

Canadian Tire in Cole Harbour, has some good merchandise.
Right now the store seems untidy, with merchandise in the isles, but this is due to the lack of staff.
Covid-19 has played a role in the shortage of staff, but the staff they have are friendly and very helpful.

I have been dealing with this store off and on
Every time I ask for customer service, it fails every time The store manager doesn't return calls. The only person. Alex's service dept was very helpful. Here is my story I ran into a problem with a female older lady about a year ago and
Just two weeks I call then to order a set of rims
for my 2008 Saab 93. I was told by the same rude lady in front store manager that I would get a call about them. Now keep in mind this is the same Lady I had an issue with so. I called today, April 2 service, and there was no rims order. I ask for the store manager to call me no callback
For now on I will be dealing with Dartmouth Crossing Canadian Tire. I will call head office later today poor service very poor

Has always been hard to find staff there when needing assistance. Though when I can find someone they are helpful and nice.
29 January 2021 11:51
Canada Tire had upped their game so much. They have more staff: who are very helpful. The website tells you what aisle & #in store. Wish they provided better directions in store, a sign you could see saying 50-70 over here. Keep up good work.
18 January 2021 21:38
Worst service. Booked appointments 3 weeks before. Suddenly they called me on appointment day just to day we don’t have tools to fix the alignment for your car.
25 December 2020 4:16
The store was large and clean and the staff were able to direct me to the correct location of what I was looking for. Parking was good. Can't say anything bad about this visit. Only giving 4 stars because I basically ran in and out for 1 item so don't have enough to go on to give full 5 stars.
02 December 2020 9:53
Close to my home. Smaller than some of the other stores, but always seems to have what I need. Have found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
27 November 2020 19:53
One item wouldn't scan and instead of asking me where I got the item, they made me wait while they tried to find where it came from. After almost 30 mins they then asked where I got it and I had to go take a picture of the tag. At the same time they called to the warehouse about another item we wondered if they had in the back. Warehouse didn't call them back. When we asked for a manager, we were directed to go to customer service who them told us we had to go see the greeter. Manager took her sweet time coming out, and then ignored us for a while. She the went to the back to find said item and took 10+ minutes for her to come back. She offered no apology. Worst Canadian Tire ever.
23 November 2020 14:45
Came up to the cash with an over filled cart of large and heavy items.

I held up the one light item to be scanned and the young man just looked at me with a blank expression. I asked if he wanted me to hold all the other items up.

He responded with an exasperated look and a quiet "yes. " So I just walked out.
19 October 2020 13:43
Probably the worst Canadian tire there is. Terrible inventory and the customer service to match. I keep returning and leaving empty handed and unhappy every time. Make the drive out to Dartmouth crossing or even better yet, spend your money at Home Depot or the new home hardware in cole harbour.
19 October 2020 5:56
Strongly recommend calling in to check stock before going in to pick up anything. Constantly I will see “10 in stock aisle 75” on their website. Only to make the trip in and get told by employees that they have been missing those for weeks and don’t have any. Leaves me wondering, if they have been missing for weeks, why hasn’t anyone taken the time to update the stock on the website to 0?

Staff are generally very nice and helpful, but they need to start updating their stock to reflect what they actually have.
29 September 2020 13:21
This was the third time that I had been back to get the same tires fixed on the rims, and there is only one leaking now. At least it is still under warranty, so I don't have to pay them to keep doing the same job. Also, even though masks are mandatory, about 10% of staff, and 10% of customers are still not wearing them.
24 September 2020 16:34
Great sales and usually well stocked with most of what you are likely to be looking for. Qualitycsn be very good but is not always top notch, but savvy customers know what to buy and what to avoid- ask a friend or Google their products. I'm only rsting of the retail portion. I do not use their automotive services, which would get a different rating from me.
